21 problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2006 Ford Fusion. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2006 Ford Fusion based on all problems reported for the 2006 Fusion.
My car slips out fo gear, slows down on the highway, revvs at high rpm's, and won't accelerate again unless I slam the gas pedal down. It only does this sometimes. Also, I have been experiencing intermittent brake failure. I apply my foot onto the break, and it goes straight to the floor. Delays stop time substantially.
Fusion has issues accelerating while in motion. The issue has happened on the highway and city streets. When the gas pedal is pushed, the car will not accelerate and the rpm will jump. This causes safety concerns because while driving, car will suddenly not accelerate in traffic and I have to pull to the side of the road while the traffic around is going at a higher speed and has potential to cause an accident. The car appears to have trouble switching between gears and car jerks in the shift.
2006 Ford Fusion: when driving after the car gets warm up it is starts slipping and shifting someone harshly like it just got kicked. I was on the freeway and couldn't speed up almost got rear ended. I see others have the same issue after doing a search I found different answer as what could be wrong. Found out what the issue is with the aisin transmissions slipping which were used in the 2006 Fusion. It is due to valve bore wear in the main control. If the trans fluid isnt burnt (meaning there is internal trans clutch damage) then you are looking at $800-$1000 to replace the main control. If the clutches are burnt the whole trans will have to be replaced cost??? something like $4000-$5000. The problem is that when Ford bought the aisin trans, Ford did not buy the service rights. So there are no service parts available or training avail on how to service this trans. The issue with the main control has been so common that aisin has agreed to supply Ford with service main controls. There has been a technical service bulletin out there. See below TSB bulletin date: Feb 2007 various driveability/transmission symptoms - pcm/tcm calibration updates 3. 0l - aisin f21 auto trans. ( NHTSA item number - 10021277 ) as one person posted. Ford needs to make this right!!! very unsafe*** our car is parked in the garage we can not afford to fix it or sell it with a bad transmission . Ammco said needs new transmission.
The throttle body malfunctions and loses complete power while drivig.
-steering-the steering wheel shakes eveytime I slow down the vehicle. -speed control-the vehicle skids/swerves as I'm driving. -brakes-the brakes are faulty as well. -electrical system- the charging system needs to be checked. (shown on indicator) -**vehicle is making a loud humming noise when accelerating/driving (front of vehicle) *there is already a recall for the airbags as well. -didnt pass safety inspection.
While driving the car on the highway at typical highway speeds (60mph-70mph) the wrench indicator light comes on in the dashboard and the car looses the ability to accelerate any faster than about 10 miles an hour. We pull over, turn the car off and start it back up again and it appears to run fine. This can happen randomly one day and then not happen again for a few weeks or even a month or two then it does it again. Based on my research comparing other drivers posting about the same problem I believe this problem is due to a defective throttle body or what is sometimes called the etb = electronic throttle body. The problem is the result of the computer and sensors sending bad signals to the throttle body mechanism which then affects the air/gas mixture and adversely affects acceleration, this is dangerous and a safety issue. There was a recall on defective throttle bodies for Ford Fusions but it only included 2009 models and later models, but it did not include 2006 models. I have read of other people in earlier model cars from as early as 2005 posting on forums that they had the same issue, so I believe this wasn't only a problem on 2009's and later. Ford issues an extended warranty on the Fusion of ten years or 150,000 miles. I don't know the name of the specific recall other than a reference to consumer satisfaction program 13n03. The problem sometimes is referred as the "limp home" mode. In conclusion, I would like our 2006 Ford Fusion to be included or qualified in the recall so I can fix this problem or at least get reimbursed once I get it fixed since it is a defect with the car.
Vehicle after warming up and put in gear will only move forward very slowly takes several minutes before I can get a acceptable forward motion. Can not go in traffic as car only moves at a very small rate of speed. Eventually it will go into the normal mode for driving car forward. .
While reversing out of my parking spot at work the other day, the car completely stalled while my foot was on the gas pedal. I was thankful that no one was behind me because the car completely shut down. I put it in park and restarted it easily, but I was too nervous to drive on a highway after the incident, as there was no indication the first time that the car was going to shut down. I drove down a country road with my flashers on until I got to a safe place where I could call my husband. While I waited for him to come get me, I kept the car in idle and ran the heater. The car shut down again, and this time I was able to take a picture of the warning lights that accompanied the failure. (see attached. ) the dash said "check charging system" and the oil, emissions, and battery lights came on. We called and had it towed to a local shop but man there has no idea what the problem is and told us to tow it to the dealership. My car has over 100,000 miles, but I have had trouble with it since I bought it. I have had mechanics tell me that the electrical system does not work well. I have also had them tell me that it is normal for the air-conditioner in these cars to just turn on randomly to cool the engine, which mine does frequently. Moreover, the battery in the car now is the third one I've had. Brake lights burn out constantly, and the transmission makes terrible noises when I start the car and particularly when I reverse. This new problem of stopping unexpectedly is simply unacceptable. I hate to give up my Fusion because when it's running correctly, it's a great car; however, this last instance is just too dangerous. If I were on the highway, I could have been killed. This same thing has happened to friends of mine who owned Fords. I will be calling Ford and asking them about throttle body and pcm problems that others have noted in their complaints.
Airbags did not deploy during car accident. Airbags recalled by takata are far more dangerous, basically dead airbags. The vehicle was in motion, another recall with the carpets being recalled as well, resulting in excessive speed from the carpet pressing on the gas peddle, causing the accident.
Driving at 55 mph, the car lost power, I pulled to the side of the road the wrench light came on, the engine made some rattleing sounds. Then I shut the engine off and had it towed to my mechanics shop.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while traveling 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the throttle actuator needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 134,000 and the current mileage was 137,000.
Cut stops running. . All different speeds . , any given time. Almost had three different accidents. Glad to be here. . Still found out its very common problem since it took a week to get the back ordered part. Throttle body. Seems to be a serious problem. Dangerous to say the least.
My Ford Fusion v6 sel has been slipping since 50,000 miles. I have had 2 minor transmission changes within the past 3 years. Today me and my kids were driving about 20-35 mph around town when the transmission slipped. The car would not respond to accelerating on the gas pedal. I tried placing the car into low gear, reverse with nothing happening. This was on a busy intersection, the car final after forcing me and my kids to jerk forward started to work again. Each time I stopped at a stop light the car took 1-2 minutes to rise above 20 mph. I finally made it to my house which has a small slant on the drive way and the car struggled just to make it in the garage. This was the most embarrassing day of my life!!!! the car clearly is out of warranty and each time I look up TSB's I see more and more 2006-11 Ford Fusion postings. Being a Ford fan my whole life I must say if nothing is done with this complaint I will no longer support Ford and will encourage other not to as well. The next steps are to go to the Ford dealership and do a diagnostic. I may also try a major transmission change, my fear would be to do a transmission change with zero confidence that this will fix the problem!!! Ford must keep quality and safety in mind with every car they sell especially a 1st generation model.
Vehicle losses propulsion at very inconvenient times ( I. E. Driving down the interstate, stopped at a stop light, and pulling out into traffic). I have attempt two fix the problem because mechanic said that it was my throttle body. I even called Ford, and they said "if the wrench light is on it was the throttle body. " I just want this problem to stop happing because I have done everything to fix it. Changed the spark plugs, battery, throttle body (twice), and even did the oil. Nothing works. Please help me find out about this recall because Ford is asking me for large amounts of money which I don't have. I bought this car brand new and has been well maintained.
Car engine started sounding rough and when I stepped on gas nothing happened and car would not pick up speed. It would not go more than 20 miles per hour. The wrench light up in the car showing a problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph independently. The wrench warning icon illuminated after the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the throttle. The throttle was not replaced. In addition, the door locks on the rear driver¿s side door and the front passenger¿s side door failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the traction control warning light illuminated. The contact coasted onto the shoulder and was able to restart the engine and resume normally. The dealer performed a diagnostic which located the failure at the throttle. The vehicle was repaired. The computer system and the throttle body was replaced. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,189 and the current mileage was 97,000.
My transmission is slipping a lot. I will be accelerating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in neutral. I have read a lot of complaints from other Ford Fusion owners stating the same problem. This needs to be recalled. This is very unsafe. Driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all.
Thetransmission slips and jerks hard, really hard when changing gear. The car lose power while driving. Then it will kick back in hard. I will not buy another Ford!!! now I see why people buy foriegn.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. On June 4, 2010, the contact stated that when he turned on the vehicle, the rpms increased rapidly. The rpms increased to 3,500 when it was normally on 900. The vehicle behaved that way for about sixteen miles so the contact parked it and let it sit for two hours. When he restarted it, the vehicle behaved normal. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were 27,635.
This vehicle lose power and slows down, it happened on the express way more than 5 times. I was almost rear ended by a semi truck. I only drive it on side streets now. It pops into gear very hard, the wrench light and the check engine light is on. It gets stuck in second gear and burns a lot of gas. It started soon after the warranty ran out. I had a lot of repairs done and the power train and engine is not working right as of yet, something is wrong with this Ford Fusion 06 and a lot of people are having the same problems with it. Why does it take the deaths of many innocent people first before there's a recall?.
