2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2020

My car was in motion while driving in NY city traffic; the power steering went out and we received the advanctrac / service power steering now message. It was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed replaced. My mechanic told me it was going to cost 400 dollars alone for the part. I looked at this issue online and countless people seem to he having the same issue the 2010 Ford Fusion but Ford has not have a recall for it yet. I'm still driving it, times are hard I cant afford this expense.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2019

Fusion brakes became very spongy last year called the dealer, took car in they reported "resetting the brake sensor", and brakes were functioning satisfactory. 2 weeks ago, problem returned on a trip of 500 miles, thought brakes were loosing fluid, checked fluid was fine. Pumped brakes in park very hard x 5-10 reps x 3 sets , brake partially returned. Arriving home brakes functioned fair. Now past 2 days unable to reset brakes and they are very spongy, very risky for travel and performing unexpected stopping. Ford service reports some of these vehicles are under recall some are not?? I will redress this with dealer this week. Now steering fault is showing up, looses assist while driving , makes parking and avoidance maneuvering difficult and dangerous. Again some vehicles under recall not mine ??.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2017

Takata recall, I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. I have only 62,000 miles on my vehicle. I left work was crossing a busy bridge and lost my power steering and advanced tracking at the same time. As I was turning left onto the bridge in traffic I lost control and almost went into the side of another vehicle. I began getting service power steering and service advance tracking alerts. I have researched this since it happened November 28th 2017. I find there was a recall for the year after 2011. I can not believe my safety was in jeopardy and I am responsible for paying for a defect that has affected many vehicles of the same year. I need help.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2017

My car was having multiple issues. First the epas system went out as I was driving. There was a recall for previous versions but when I looked up the 2010 Ford Fusion 3. 0lv6 awd it was not included even though it was one of the pioneer vehicles of Fords to have the system. Once I got the power steering repaired I started hearing a grinding. As I drove the car to my house to get a safe look all of a sudden there was a jerking and crunching sound as I drove on a straight road with slight grading. Luckily I was only going 35mph and was able to control the vehicle. I took it to the mechanic and found out that it was the power transfer unit and the rear drive shaft. After talking to the mechanic he said that the ptu is one of the most commonly replaced parts in the awd Ford vehicles. It is obvious after more research that Ford is well aware that they are providing a faulty product and are placing them in all of their awd systems. My understanding is that the ptu unit in the Ford Fusion 2010 is the same as in all other Ford awd vehicles. Since I spent so much money to get the power steering fixed I had to put my car in a garage for the winter so I could save up to fix the now funked ptu. My car hasn't even cracked 89k miles.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2017

Just paid $1658. 00 for the removal and replacement of the rack & pinion in our 2010 Ford Fusion due to an inherent defect of the steering system that occurs around 90,0000 -100,000 miles.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

Driving at about 15 mph straight ahead, went over a very small bump, a big noise and the front end on the drivers side suddenly dropped. Inspection revealed the driver's side front spring had rusted out and broken near the bottom causing the spring to slip out and putting all the weight on the strut causing the front end to collapse on that side. Turns out the front passenger front spring was also rusted extensively at the bottom although it had not yet broken. Ended up having to replace both front spring/strut assemblies. Concerned that if this had broken at highway speeds or going around a sharp curve, could of caused the vehicle to lose control. Thinking that this problem would be limited to northern states where road salt is used more heavily.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Delayed exclamation when I press the gas pedal and slowing down for no reason while driving on the highway. The tie rod breaks over and over again. I've had it fixed 5 times in one year.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving 60 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering service and traction warning indicators illuminated. The contact called sheridan Ford sales (4001 kirkwood hwy, wilmington, DE 19808 (302) 999-0261) for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the failure continued and the vehicle pulled to the right and left while driving various speeds. The contact had to turn off the ignition, wait a few moments, and restart the vehicle in order for the power steering to return to normal. The contact attempted to add power steering fluid, but discovered that the steering was electric. Several months later, while driving out of the driveway, the vehicle began to bounce. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger side tire was turned inward. The vehicle was driven back to the contact's home and, while inspecting the front wheels, she noticed that the front driver side tie rod was fractured. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2016

While driving into a moderate left curve on a narrow two lane city street there was a loss of power steering. This resulted in loss of control allowing the car to jump the curb and into a fire hydrant. No airbags deployed one minor injury to a passenger. Car was totaled. No tickets were issued. The car was under a recall 15s34for some problem with the ptcm and fuel tank and canister purge valve and was scheduled to repaired 04/27/16. Recall was first recevied on 01//2016 but the repair ok was received in 04/16. There is also a preliminary evaluation by the office of defects investigation on the loss of power steering on this yr Ford Fusion.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Car lost power steering as I was turning, pulled hard right, causing car to hit a small tree. Minor damage; cracked headlight lens and front nose piece detached from fenders. The car was restarted and the steering appeared to be fine. However, since this happened, the steering appears to be harder to control and the car has a hard pull when accelerating similar to torque steering. The car never had a problem with torque steering prior to this incident. The car also developed a sway when hitting the smallest road bumps, such as coming off a bridge.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph over a bump, the transmission failed to operate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the joint and stub assembly, axle bushing and seal kit were replaced. Two weeks later, the failure recurred. The dealer informed that the axle retaining clip was faulty. The dealer replaced the joint and stub assembly, axle bushing and seal kit were replaced for the second time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,862. Js.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2014

I was driving at about 25-30 miles per hour and got a flat tire. I stopped the car and changed the tire, but once I started driving the caution alarm came on and started flashing that the "electric power assisted steering" malfunctioned. It became difficult to steer the car. I almost ran off the road into a drainage canal trying to make a turn.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

I parked my car on a slight incline. I got out and like I have done many times, put my car in park. I left the engine running and was out getting my dog some water, placed the water on the deck and turned to get in my car, I heard this pop of a sound and my car started rolling backward. It stayed on this good road I had into my garden, going backward, I tried to get in the car and stop it, but the angle of entry and speed kept me from doing that. It then took a path off the road and I watched as it vanished into a gully, about 8 to 12 feet deep. It cost me approx $3800. 00 to repair, plus rental, plus wrecker, plus checking the under body and tires, wheels. I was told that the gears had jumped loose. It was a horror show, plus costly, and I was very lucky that it went in the gully, instead of the yard next to my property where 3 kids were playing. I have heard other similar stories, what has or is being done to correct this problem?.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2014

I was driving 45mph then suddenly my steering wheel started going all over car lost control and steering was uncontrollable and really hard. I had to drive really slow to get back home.

21 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2013

I went to pick up my car from the Ford dealership after dropping it off, again, on Friday, 12/27 to fix the same exact issue I brought it in for the day before. The steering got incredibly stiff and the "service power steering now" light came on as well as the "service advancetrac" light. The first time they replaced the steering rack. Second time they blamed the wiring. I brought the car in today 12/31 but they were closed so I can't wait to see what they are going to try to fix when they open back up on Jan 2nd. I have not been able to drive this car for almost a week now and I wont be able to any time soon I feel.

22 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2013

I own a 2010 Ford Fusion se. Six weeks prior to November 13, 2013, the vehicle would sporadically shake or sometimes jerk! on the evening of November 13th, I was driving a short distance from home in the dark. I came to complete stop at a very busy intersection and the vehicle began to shake violently three times and then the engine stalled! I was stuck at a right turn lane with no place to pull over or to let any cars go by! in fact many drivers behind me were very impatient honking their horns and squeezing by around the corner! as I was panicking I noticed the battery and oil light on and did not noticed any other idiot lights on. I pressed on the accelerator and could not move, I noticed I could put the car in gear and luckily I was able to start the vehicle! I was able drive around the corner into the gas station, and all of a sudden the vehicle's transmission jerked and made a loud "clunk" noise while accelerating lightly, the vehicle "surged" thru the gas station, finding myself at a fast speed I had to slam on the brakes! that evening I went onto the internet and saw hundreds of complaints on the "electronic throttle body!" all of these customers had the same experience or very similar to mine! I was very scared to drive the car twenty miles to a local dealership. Fortunately the vehicle made it there without stalling. The technicians ran a test on the "electronic throttle body"and to my surprise the vehicle passed with flying colors. Also one of the technicians took the car home to see if it would happen again so the extended warranty would cover this expense with a rental car! for the safety of myself and others the "electronic throttle body" was replaced at my expense of $430. 00. I knew the problem would not disappear or go away or improve and nobody's life is worth a few hundred dollars!.

23 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2013

I lost my power stering in my 2010 Fusion. I took it to the dealer (thinking I had a warrenty on it) to get it fixed. They told me that they flashed the computer and it came back with a hard fault and the whole rack need to be replace. Not having the money I picked up the car and it worked fine. Drove it for a week then at the same spot in the road it went out again. Called another dealer closer to work too see if I could have it reflashed to hopefully reset it again but they told me once it was flashed that they couldnt do it again. I really hope this gets resolved. Now I replaced it with a used one and have not had a problem since.

24 Suspension problem

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2013

While driving home on highway at 50 mph the car suddenly alarmed servive advancetrac and power steeringg now. My steering wheel locked on me. Thank god it didnt cause an accident. I called a Ford dealer they suggested I pull over try turning the car off and starting it again to see if message would dissappear it didnt. They told me I would have to bring it in to be serviced. Just for them to look at it it's $130. When I looked on internet I seen that there has been multiple complaints about this but no recalls. I also seen that it is very costly and the problem reoccurs. Why no recalls yet?.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2012

I had not had any issues with my car, but I left my house to drive my daughter to tumbling which was 7 miles from my house. I was about 3 miles from my home when a warning sound and the lights on my dashboard stated check power steering. I assumed that I needed power steering. I arrived at tumbling, parked for an hour. When I started the car a new message was on the dash stating service power steering now and service advance autotrac. I put the car in reverse and backed up, but when I turned the steering wheel it was locked, I could barely move the wheel. I was blocking the traffic in the parking lot and had to pull forward and park. I turned the car off and on and received the same message. Therefore I was stranded in the parking lot. We took the car to a Ford service dept. They told us that this is an issue that they have been having with Ford Fusions as well as other Fords but there was no recall. I paid for them to perform a diagnostic test the results were that they would have to replace the steering panel for $1500 and the part was on back order, but first they reset the codes, and the power steering warning was gone the car test drove and drove home fine. The next morning I left to take my daughters to school and the same cycle of events happened I was afraid to turn the car off when I dropped them off at school so that I would not be stranded. I kept the car on and drove the car to the dealership where I purchased the car paid again for a test and was told the same thing. I told them to repair the car. I called Ford CO. And they told me that they were not aware of this issue and although I saw numerous complaints on the internet they were not true. Meanwhile my car is ready and I have to come up with 1500 for an issue that Ford knows they are having problems with. I am afraid my car will have problems again, this is a safety issue when it comes to steering.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2011

The transmission would seem like it would go into neutral between 1-2 shifts and also on the highway it would sometimes act the same in gear 6. The transmission was changed once by Ford. Reprogrammed 4-5 times, and multiple parts changed and still poor performance exist. This vehicle was purchased new from the same dealer that has serviced it and I would like to claim this as a lemon in the state of FL while still under the factory power train warranty.

29 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While traveling 35 mph, the contact heard a banging noise from outside the vehicle; suddenly the front drivers side tire locked up, causing a loss of control of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000 and the current mileage was approximately 17,000. Updated 01/04/lj updated 01/07/11.

30 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2010

2010 Ford Fusion sel. Customer writes in regards to continued transmission problems. The consumer stated the transmission would slip harshly and hesitate on acceleration. The recall repair did not correct the transmission problems. It was determined that the valve body and solenoid body were defective. Also, one of the tires was leaking air, there was an issue with the traction and brakes. There were noises coming from the front of the vehicle. The steering wheel would not lock into place, the cd player did not work at times, the driver side visor did not stay in place, the gas over flow tube was inoperative, the vehicle would pull hard when the brake was applied. The rear driver's side door had to be slammed extremely hard, in order to close it. The driver's side seat belt was backwards. The passenger side windshield wiper dragged on the windshield and the vehicle would sometimes surge on its own. Each time the consumer went to the dealer about certain problems, she was told no problems were found.
