Body Door Handle Interior problems of the 2012 Ford Fusion

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver's side door failed to open using the interior door handle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the driver’s side interior door handle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred three years later. The contact stated that on the second occasion, the driver’s and front passenger’s side windows were rolled down and the door was opened using both outside door handles. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,945.

Driver side door handle from interior failed and no longer works. Live in south florida and believe heat caused plastic component to break. Unable to exit vehicle unless use 2 hands. . . One to pull back on locking mechanism and other hand on door handle. Internet search shows common issue with 2006-2012 Ford Fusion models. Many state they roll down window and pull exterior door handle to exit vehicle. Seems like safety hazard if one needs to exit vehicle in a hurry.

The driver side door handle suddenly failed to open the door from the interior. In order to exit the vehicle, the window has to be rolled down and the external handle needs to be utilized.
