36 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2014

While driving, the car began to shake and jerk like the engine wanted to die. Then I lost engine power. The car still had power and was on, but there was no throttle when I pushed the gas. The engine light and a little wrench came on. I put it in park, turned it off, restarted it, and it still had no engine throttle to it. But the car had a small amount of power, like I was coasting along, so that I could get through the stop light and make it to the side of the road. Every time I tried the gas pedal though, there was no response; it went to the floor. I was at the light by my neighborhood, right by the train tracks. Thank god I had enough power to get through that!.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

I was driving on interstate 70 at approximately 65 mph when I suddenly lost all engine power. I was almost hit by a semi traveling behind me because my vehicle had absolutely zero acceleration. The "wrench" light on my car came on at the same time this happened. The semi behind me swerved to miss me and I was able to get my car off to the side of the road. Lights, climate control (a/c), radio, etc. Worked fine. Engine still ran but would not move forward. I turned the car off to call for assistance. Upon seeing if the car would re-start, it did and no "wrench" light appeared. I was able to then get the car to my local Ford dealership, but being a holiday they were closed. I could have been killed when this happened on the interstate with the semi behind me!! sounds like some kind of fuel injector or throttle problem. My vehicle is not even 3 years old and I bought it brand new in Dec. 2011.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

While driving on a major highway at a set rate of speed the car acted as if it was trying to shift gears and bucked, rpm's went up and then back to normal. It went to the dealer and throttle body was replaced, a week or so afterwards the car started to do the same thing, but this time also in reverse. I took it back to the dealer where they stated that nothing was wrong but they only put 4 miles of a test drive on the car. Last week the Fusion left me on a major highway just shutting down with no warning and I happened to have my 2 year old. I left it sit about 30 minutes and turned over the ignition and it started like normal. I was just thankful to get home without and accident. It's not safe. . . The car looks great but its like you take your life into your own hands driving it.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2014

Bought a 2012 Ford Fusion brand new from a dealership. First incident occurred within first 2 yrs of ownership while driving 45 mph down an incline - sudden loss of power. It felt as if it lost power steering and thought engine shut off. Dash alarms rang and briefly saw 'power steering fault' light up. Took all my power to pull car off road and to a safe complete stop. Turned off ignition. After a few minutes restarted ignition and drove directly to a dealership without further incident. Dealership stated water pump was defective and sent a signal to the engine to shut down. Pump was replaced second incident occurred months later while at a complete stop at a traffic light. Steering wheel suddenly locked, and felt engine power reduce. Dash warning sounded and saw 'power steering fault, service powertrac' light up. Turned ignition off and back on and was able to drive to dealership without further incident. Was told a chip replacement was issued. Replaced chip and was told that would extend the warranty and resolve issue. Continue to have additional incidents (4 to date ) both while moving and at a stand still where the dash warning sounded and felt a reduction or loss of power, each time having to shut off ignition and restart to clear the fault. Dealership continues to attempt to service with no resolve as yet.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

Received a letter extending the warranty of the throttle body, but I feel this is a safety issue, especially at high speeds on interstate highways, and should be a recall issue not a warranty extension.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2014

When passing another vehicle at 45 mph in 2012 Ford Fusion sel v6 (36,000 miles) car suddenly and without warning lost power but quickly regained it. A few minutes later, while turning corner, car suddenly and dangerously lost power again and didn't regain it. I managed to roll to curb; warning lights were on including wrench. I stepped on gas but car wouldn't move. Turned off engine and ten minutes into waiting for tow truck, I tried to start vehicle. It started and I was able to drive it two blocks to my home. Based on their experience with Fusions, mechanics at Ford dealership suspected throttle body problem and I was told there was nothing they could do because code for throttle body didn't appear during diagnostic check. I was told that when it happens again to bring it back to see if they could catch code and get authorization for repair. The sudden loss of power in this car while driving it is very dangerous and the series should be recalled and throttle body repair done by Ford because of this serious safety issue.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

I have had numerous problems with stalling, loss of acceleration, dying with my Fusion. It hesitates when driving and stalls when driving and stopped. The wrench and engine light are on again. I am very concerned for my safety due to these issues as there is never any warning of when it's going to occur. I have previously had my throttle body repaired/replaced but the same problems continue.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

While driving on interstate 30 in traffic at about 70 to 75 mph the car just stopped accelerating and I had to coast off the roadway and kill the car and restart it. This is a dangerous situation in heavy traffic and has occurred on two different occasions in the past two weeks. I have researched this problem with other Fusion owners from 2010 to 2012 and this seems to be a common problem nationwide. This problem should be on a recall before people get hurt or killed.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Car gas pedal stopped responding on the highway. Had to pull over and turn off and on again to fix it. Turns out it's a defective throttle body, a widespread issue. Had to get it replaced.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2013

Was driving on interstate in heavy traffic. Car immediately-without warning- lost power to accelerate. Went to a limp driving mode. Warning light (wrench) came on. Was very dangerous situation. Had to maneuver to side of road. Almost was hit from behind. Car shook and stuttered. Turned off ignition and waited a couple minutes. Started car, all warning lights cleared. Was able to make it home without any other in incident. Few days later same malfunction happened again. Car lost acceleration and had to limp to safe place in heavy traffic. Turned off car and restarted. Took car to Ford dealership and was told car is out of warranty and diagnosis was throttle body. A common problem but not a recall. Wow.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2013

The car would not accelerate after stopping at a stop sign. I coasted into the intersection and stopped. The car would not accelerate so I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. Traffic was light so I was not in danger, but this is the second time this has happened and it is concerning that Ford is aware of the problem and has not made an effort to repair. I was informed that the throttle body was faulty. I am concerned that Ford has many vehicles that have this defect and are not making an effort to correct the problem.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2012

We were driving on the highway at approximately 40mph when the car lost power and began to shake. We were fortunate to be able to pull off on the shoulder out of traffic and turn off the motor. After waiting approximately 15 minutes, we were able to restart the car and drive safely to a reliable automotive shop we have used for over 20 years. Finally after a week of testing, they were able to replicate the problem we had experienced. They replaced the alternator,at our considerable expense, and we brought the car home more than a week later. We drove the car without incident until Tuesday,october16th when the same problem happened again. This time at about 30mph. Again, after waiting 10-15 minutes, the car started again and was driven safely to the automotive repair shop where it remains 5days later. This is a great inconvenience since we live in an area where a car is a necessity but it is also a serious safety hazard since this problem could easily happen when accelerating into traffic or on a busy multilane, high speed highway. From reading this site, we have become aware that there are many complaints of this nature for this make and model year and we question why there has been no recall or,at very least, a consumer alert.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem
