2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

I noticed this issue a few different times and thought nothing major of it, but for whatever reason my transmission would continue to propel the vehicle forward regardless of the vehicle was in neutral and also noticed the vehicle would often times continue to accelerate and fail to engine brake after my foot had let off the accelerator. The latter of which I was more concerned about and was going to have a mechanic look at it next time I took the vehicle in to get serviced. However, before I was able to do that I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that totaled the vehicle. I was driving in a rural area and approached a set of train tracks. I went to slow down to cross the tracks via engine braking, but the vehicle continued to accelerate. I attempted to use the brakes to slow down before I reached the tracks, but the delayed response and the gravel on the roadway proved no avail at slowing the vehicle and I hit the tracks going much faster than I would have liked, around 40 miles per hour. The roughness of the tracks caused my front axle to snap, yanking me to the right off the roadway, through someone's yard and into some timber. What I thought was also concerning was the airbags failed to deploy at all during the accident.

3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

4 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

Airbag light came on. Asked dealer to check. They said it looked like a wire had been cut. So they said wouldn't fall under warranty. This makes no sense. It should be covered. I have only had my car to Ford dealerships for regular maintenance under their plan since purchased new. Airbags have never deployed. I have no idea where these wires are even located. So is this faulty from day one or done while other work regular maintenance or recall work done? why do I need to pay for almost $500 for repair? should be warranty work.

13 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident, in which I was first hit by another car and then collided with a lamp post. The initial blow rendered my vehicle without brake power and the airbags did not deploy. I was wearing a seatbelt. My car headed toward the street lamp. I tried to press my brake, but it would not work. I turned my steering wheel to the left to avoid a head-on with the light post. Unfortunately, I hit the post and it broke (later a policeman pushed it over and it fell to the ground). The car finally stopped at about 200 feet away from the site of the accident, as I drove it onto the median strip. My car was damaged on the left and right front lower area and the right tire was pushed way back. The sway bar and knuckle broke, among other things. The right front door was unable to open. After all these repairs were done, they couldn't start the car because the crankshaft sensor also had to be replaced. In total, these repairs took more than two months to complete. I spoke to the regional manager of Ford motor company to see if they wanted to investigate this particular car, as it operated poorly during the accident. They were not interested, and said to allow geico to handle things and have geico call them if they found anything amiss. My back was injured and I cannot safely lift more than 5 lbs at a time. My neurosurgeon advised that I have surgery soon, otherwise I risk becoming paralyzed from the waist down. I have a thumb injury and the accident also re-activated an old concussion. My nose must have hit the steering wheel, as it was sore for a week. I can walk around and function right now, I just can't lift anything. My car is ready in the shop, but I am afraid to drive it, and I have five years of payments left on it. I never would have hit the lamp post if my brakes had worked, and my airbags did not deploy for either impact.

14 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

I own a 2013 Ford Fusion, I have had a very serious mechanical malfunction over the past 3 weeks. The vehicle will completely shut down while operating the vehicle causing the steering wheel to lock, brakes not to work, emergency brake not work and finally the air bags do not deploy. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership where I purchased it from on 2 occasions. The first time was March 28th and after having the car for 7 hours I was told that they didn’t have time to look at it and that I should bring it back next week. I asked them what I was supposed to do if it happened again and I was told “keep trying to restart the car” and bring it back next week. The week of the 31st thru the 4th I had two more occasions where the car shut down. I took the car in on April 4th and was told that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. I asked for a rental or a loaner car and was told that they didn’t have any. I didn’t drive the car that weekend because I didn’t feel safe putting my family in it. On April 7th I was driving home from work when the car shut down and as a result I went through a 6 foot tall stone wall that was reinforced by rebar. I was luckily not injured, I hit the wall between 20-25 mph and had no airbag deployment. I have talked to the dealership where I purchased the car and was told that this is something that Ford motor company takes care off. I have contacted Ford and spoke with divana in the legal department and was told that this is a product liability with the car. This was on April 8th . On April 11th I was contacted by Ford and told that there is nothing that they can do and that I should call them back if it happens again. I posed the question if I were driving at 75 mph a hit a 18 wheeler what was I supposed to do. I guess they wouldn’t have to worry about a complaint.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2007

Isuzu trooper told me that airbags do not deploy in rollover accidents because studies showed there isn't a higher survival rate when they do deploy in rollovers. That may be true, but I as a physician do declare that a survivor of a rollover may have better survival when airbags deploy. This is especially true with survival after severe brain injuries. I am permanently disabled now. I find it unconsciouble that airbags don't deploy in rollovers. I mean why not? the date of my accident wouldn't enter properly but was 02/22/1995.
