Appearlly Ford motor company knew about apim system malfunctioning that they extended the warrant starting from 2014 for 5 years and didn't notify to the customers so after your warranty is gone the apim system will no longer work and by law all manufacturing need to notify of any abnormal situation on your vehicle. Their understanding is that this does not fall under a safety recall, but without having the speakers or sound working you will not hear your seatbelt chime you will not hear your motor senses chime when crossing a-line, you will not hear your vehicles chime reversing nor will you see your camera. I have seen 1000ths of people having the same problem and Ford will not fix it because "their warranty has expired" they are requesting $1000 to fix it. Hopefully this can be announced for another customers before their warranty expires and they don't have to pay 1000 dollars like myself.
When the engine gets to a warm temperature and then shut off and left for 10 or so minutes, when the engine is restarted, put it drive, within several seconds (15 seconds to 120 seconds) it will begin shuttering and die while driving. Restarting the engine after it quits (which takes about 2 seconds, longer than normal) will start and will again die when beginning to drive. I have been experiencing this issue for about 5-6 months on my Ford with +/- 66k miles. The issue is getting worse and much more frequent. No check engine light or diagnostic codes are present. I have experienced this issue multiple times when turning onto a busy road and it is becoming more and more of a safety concern. I do not experience this issue following a cold engine start.
The notification appears as power steering assist fault service required, this happens during the drive, which poses a serious risk, I think this has to be dealt with. And Ford wants to charge customers 1800$ for this.
The steering gear bolts and inner steering gearbox on my 2014 Ford Fusion are visibly corroded. The corrosion on the steering your bolts cause the bolts to snap and health in caused the steering gearbox two separate. There should be no corrosion on the inside of the steering gearbox since the steering gearbox is supposed to be a sealed in it. I contacted Ford motor company on may 20, 2020 to ask them to add my vehicle to the recall list for the steering gearbox the Ford motor company representative who I was speaking with told me my car has been serviced for the recall in October 2018 however my car still have the original bolts to ask them to add my vehicle to the recall list for the steering gear bolt the Ford motor company representative who I was speaking with told me my car had been serviced for the recall in October 2018 however my car still has the original aluminum torque bit head bolts when the bolts snapped in March 2020, I was informed that the recall should have replace the bolts with hex head bolts. I took a lot of pictures and I have videos stored on my mobile phone showing the damages to my vehicles steering gearbox and the steering gear bolts. Ford motor company said that all they can do is note that the bolts have snapped but would not take further responsibility in the matter of issuing recall or repairing the current broken parts in my steering gear motor box unit. Please investigate these issues or add my car to the recall list so that the necessary repairs can be done without costing myself thousands of dollars for something that seems to me to be clearly a recall issue.
Vehicle was stationary foot on brakes in reverse. My sister touched the back of the car with her hand I heard a loud beeeeeeep then never heard any sound again. Not even when the keys are left in the ignition or when I'm unbuckled. Not a single sound. Then 3 months later the brakes were stalling so I got new rotors and pads and they still stall/ shake. As if that wasn't enough now it just doesn't start: I've googled all these problems and I'm not the only one. Ford should not be allowed to keep selling the same broken cars.
Steering wheels looks while on drive and all track control lights light up making it hard to control the wheel. It also slows the car down.
The climate control system shuts off and stays off for long periods of time, meaning there is no functioning air conditioning in vehicle. It's been off for almost a week now for me. It's off when it's stationary or in motion. The problem isn't with the air conditioner itself as it'll sometime come on and remain on for a long duration. The volume knob also becomes inoperable. Some drivers of this vehicle weren't able to operate their windows as well when the climate system shut off so I believe it's faulty wiring somewhere. We already know why this is dangerous. We can die of heat exhaustion especially since I'm experiencing 100 degree weather right now. Secondly, when it rains, the interior fogs up making it nearly impossible to drive. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership for this very issue and the problem has not been fixed. Here is a video on youtube showing what this looks like. . Read more...
takata recall I have a 2014 Ford Fusion. One day while driving service advance trac and power steering failure warning come on and my steering wheel tighten up almost causing me to crash I took my vehicle to the shop and they told me that this oroblem happento a lot of Ford vehicles and that it would cost me 2600 dollars to fix I was in total disbelief because I can't afford that when reaching out to Ford they weren't any help as well they stated that being that I was out of my warranty there's nothing they can do I'm unable to drive my car now get my kids to school or even go to work because of this issue.
Steering assist fault light on. Power steering went out while driving on city street . Traction control and hill start fault light came. Service advance trac light came on as well.
Vehicle was in motion and overheating lights for coolant came in and dropped right back down. Warning message came right back on 5 minutes later. If the car moves for more then 1. 5 hours straight it comes on. The warning light flickers up and down because of the temperature. The temperature gage in the car will go all the way to the top and drop back down real quick.
My power steering went and my traction control and hill start assist have went on at the same time as the power steering it was parked in a parking lot got in stunned it on everything stopped working.
While driving my 2014 Ford Fusion on the freeway two warnings popped up onto my screen saying, power assist steering failure and hill climb assist failure, which resulted in a failure of my power steering which left it very difficult for me to control the vehicle and avoid any injury to myself or others. After having to drive it to the Ford dealership in this condition, I am told that they cannot help me out since there is no direct recall under my VIN number to match this car although there are multiple steering recalls on top of the class action lawsuit opened for this exact claim I am having. I have been passed back and forth from their management to customer service with no care or sympathy whatsoever for something that could have resulted in death or injury of myself or anyone else on the road at the time. I have only had the car for a year and it is at 91,000 miles so it has surpassed its warranty on miles and I have no coverage for the repairs whatsoever.
Car was attempting to park when this happened: 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion and 2013-14 Ford escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. On affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission. A degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime. If the parking brake is not applied, a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. Contacted Ford dealership with VIN and was tols VIN # does not match recall even though recall was made in the fourth year of ownership July 2018 and recall matches my vehicle Ford Fusion 2014 year make and model unable to contact Ford 800 numbee due to weekend business hours please review assist and offer remedy. Recall number is #18s20 thanks.
Takata recall- steering wheel controls are not working, including turn signals and windshield wipers; bluetooth not functioning properly. Phone connects, but there is no connection when playing music from device.
My abs, power steering, traction control, rear view assist, airbag light all went off at the same time. I live in michigan, so there is salt on the road during the winter. It seems there is a Ford recall 15s14 that seems to address this but the dealership refused to fix stating that there is no recall for my Fusion. This is a safety issue as the loss of power steering is extremely dangerous in the winter. I am concerned for my safety. I am disturbed at Ford and the dealerships response to this safety issue.
Well first off the traction no hill assist indicator came on out of nowhere and 2 days later my power steering having problems and thing it went out as soon as I made it home because that would of been a bad situation. And to think it's an easy fix when you getting charge an arm and a leg just not right at all this is an serious problem that should have a recall.
Started car and noticed warning lights for abs, airbag and stability control illuminated also noted system check warnings for service advance trac, check rear park air and hill start not available. As I drove car I noticed power steering was not working as it should, turning vehicle required more effort and steering was stiff. When coming to a stop I noted the brakes seemed to lock.
Making a right turn, going 5-10 miles per hour and all of the sudden I get a "service advancetrac" message along with "hill assist check" "check rear parking sensor" and it appeared an abs light and no air bags.
While wife was driving to work she lost power steering, thank goodness she was off the highway.
I was driving on I-95 at about 70 mph, I received steering fault service now message and it went away after I hit ok. The car was still controllable as I didn't have hard time steering left and right. I didn't notice any unusual activity of the car. About an hour after I got that caution message, I stop to gas the car. When I started the engine backup, I received the same message plus three new ones. They are, steering loss stop for safety, hill start assist unavailable, and something about the advanctrac. I ended up towing it all the way back to norfolk from emporio. I was lucky enough to have that happened when my car wasn't on the highway. But the the towing cost is really hurtful. Sad part is, I just got my car serviced plus multi-point inspection by Ford dealer on Dec 20th, 2017. Everything was reported as good, apparently not.
Power steering stops suddenly after advance trac warning appears making car dangerous to drive. Occurs both stationary and while driving. Power steering and advance trac stop working.
Complaint attached as pdf.
I was driving in the highway and notice something wrong in the vehicle and then in the front window a message appear saying steering fault service now almost crash in the side concrete wall. Then when I got to the house and I turn off the car, and turn it back on again the steering was hard and I couldn't move the car no more and then three messages appear talking about the electronic steering failure.
When driving, warning lights came on and said that steering assist failure pull over safely. The power steering clearly went out and the wheel was significantly heavier. Luckily I had enough space on the road, and the strength to move the wheel. After doing so, I turned the car off then back on to see if it would clear, then it said the service advancetrac, and steering loss stop safely twice as it starts up, and no power steering. Vehicle is at in the 83,000 miles round about. Waiting for my appointment at Ford to run a $150 diagnostic so the can tell me the epas is out which I was reading about in the manual, when I was look for the power steering fluid which I was looking for during the onset of the problem to check, and couldn't find. Vehicle was in motion, turning on a bend in the high way. Speed was roughly 30 mph. On a separate note, the right suspension/spring thing, makes a clinking sound at slow speeds when turning or tuning the wheel. Has been happening for about 6 months before I figured out the source of the noise. I haven't brought it up to Ford service dept yet.
While starting my car, the following warning messages appeared: hill assist, service advancetrac, steering assist fault service required. I turned the car off and the warning messages disappeared. I have taken the car in for these problems, but it was not fixed. It has been documented numerous times. It is now out of warranty. Now, the following messages have appeared: steering assist fault service required, service advancetrac, & hill assist. The steering is very difficult. These messages appeared while driving at a slow speed on a city street. . I pulled the car over, turned it off, & restarted the car. The warning messages disappeared. The car was restarted & driven a few more times last night. The messages did not come on again. This was August 14,2017.
I pulled out of my driveway and decided to check my mail. I drove up onto the curb to access my mailbox. As I was about to pull away a vehicle approached causing me to suddenly stop as the wheel was descending the curb. Warning lights flashed & bells sounded. I received messages that my advancetrac had failed & that the hillside assist had failed. I now have 2 warning lights still illuminated on my dash regarding traction control. The power steering is not longer functional. I checked things out superficially and saw no fluid leaks, no parts hanging off, and no obvious signs of problems.
"suspension knock while turning the wheel; the wheels sticks during sharp turn ins to the left and right while in motion. " "the knock is also happening while the car is stationary turning the wheels to either side left or right; the wheels stick. " "at highway speeds the sound can not be heard but the car does handle oddly as a result from the suspension issues. " "at low speeds the sound can be heard when truing the wheel all the way to the left and right, the wheels will stick during this process. " "also, the steering is loose and has some play; stability control may need to be inspected due to the odd driving habits at low to highway speeds. This all took place today 6 Jan 2017, due to the customers fear the vehicle was unsafe, it was inspected by a near by mechanic "tire engineers" the car is at 31,200+ miles and having mechanical issues with the suspension. "this is one of many times the car has had a "front end suspension issue"; attempts to fix the vehicle at a dealer (opelika Ford) have ended in failure to provide warranty parts to replace faulty parts in the past. Since opelika Ford did not inspect the vehicle, 2014 Ford Fusion awd sedan, on 6 Jan 2017 an appoint was made for 11 Jan 2017 to inspect the vehicle at that dealer, no walk-ins allowed; unclear if the car was safe the customer drove the vehicle to another dealer in columbus, GA. Another appointment was set for Saturday 7 Jan 2017 to diagnoses suspension issues. There is a 36,000 miles manufacture warranty. This issue has been on going with no resolution but a back and forth between the dealer (opelika Ford) and customer's home, placing 40 miles to drive to the dealer and from dealer's location, as a result the mechanical issues have worsen. " "the drive is placing the car out of manufacturers warranty soon. " "part cost assessment is $2226. 37 to replace if out of warranty. ".
I had leased a 2014 Ford Fusion back in 2014, had every intention in purchasing the vehicle, a couple weeks before my lease was to end I was experiencing electrical/defect issues in September 2016, all my locks, air/heat, windows would shut off as I was driving and it was slowly draining my battery. I made dozens and dozens of phone calls to Ford corporation/customer service asking for help, and informing them the vehicle was not safe to drive (mailed them evidence of my issues). Took it to the dealership at tom holzer Ford, after many attempts made to repair my vehicle they still could not repair my vehicle properly, I spent $400. 00 to repair my vehicle and I was still left with the same issues listed above. When I arrived at the dealership for the third time they tried to change their story and claim I had a new problem to avoid paying to have my vehicle fixed and avoid using the "good will warranty". Instead I was left draining my savings to repair my vehicle and miss work since my vehicle was unsafe to drive. I also noticed other customers who had a 2014 Ford Fusion had the same issues as I did, and instead of contacting national highway traffic safety administration , they went on carcomplaints. Com. Please view my attached documents relating to the issues that I had with my 2014 Ford Fusion. If possible I would like a investigation made for a possible recall, and fines and penalties imposed if needed. Lastly, Ford had sold my 2014 Ford Fusion to another buyer, I had no idea if the buyer was disclosed of my issues that I had. On myvehiclehistory. Com, it states that "no problems" were reported which is false, since I submitted all my evidence to Ford corporation and nothing was done.
Vehicle stationary, engine idling when "power steering assist" failure message appears, with subsequent loss of power steering. This has happened twice within 3 day, separate occasions, after driving on interstate for approx. 1 hr, same setting. Ford dealership was informed about it on the first occasion during a scheduled 80,000 mile maintenance, however they stated vehicle was ok, and ready to drive. Mileage at the time of first incident was approx. 80,947. Arrival mileage at Ford dealership was 81,043. On 7/13/16.
I keep getting a series of warning indicators; up hill assist is not available, service advance trak , no power steering, no traction control, no abs, and the no air bag lights come on. This comes on while driving at normal, low speed on regular roads, when turning and also at higher speeds when driving on expressways. This is dangerous especially because my power steering does not work! there needs to be a recall!.
I avoided another vehicle that cut me off on the expressway by honking the horn, slamming on the brakes and quickly changing lanes. As soon as I maneuvered into an empty lane, my vehicles instrument panel went dark, the horn stopped sounding, all gauges went to zero and the car lost all electric power (including steering assist) and the engine stumbled. After a second or two everything on the instrument panel reset. Once everything came back on, the engine was on a reduced power mode and pushing the accelerator to the floor did not make the car accelerate. With the vehicle rapidly loosing speed, I was able to steer the vehicle into the shoulder of the expressway. I shifted the vehicle into neutral and turned the car off by moving the key to "accessory" and then restarted the vehicle. Once restarted, I shifted back into drive and depressed the accelerator. The car accelerated normally and all electronic functions were working. The instrument panel displayed everything normally. There was no "check engine" or other warning lights illuminated and no warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel screen. I drove my car another 6 miles to the dealership with no further issues.
Difficult to control at highway speeds; the car seems to wobble/over correct frequently. The car is difficult to keep between the lines when it encounters even minor bumps in the road. I've brought these concerns to Ford and have been met with highly antagonistic responses. Ford neglects to acknowledge the issue and told me they test drove the car and were unable to replicate the issue. I don't feel safe driving my new car on the highway. Please help!.
I bought this car brand new. . It's been a nightmare from the first week. . . It has a oil leak. . The car jerks when your driving but yet they say it has to get use to my driving well September will be 5 years it should be use to my driving. . The car acted like it didn't want to crank, went and got it checked, said there is nothing wrong with starter or alternator needs to battery, ok got new battery and it still drags to start. . . This is the worse car I have ever owned . . Now you can be driving and some message comes up transmission not in park, I don't understand I think this car was a lemon right off the car lot.
