The contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced, the vehicle was dropped off at the contact's residence. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called the dealer, and the dealer picked up the vehicle. The contact was informed that the vehicle displayed a fuel pressure and ambient air temperature sensor issue. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The vehicle was at the residence. The contact parked and stopped driving the vehicle due to the safety concern. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,383.

2 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the upon filling up the vehicle with gasoline, the vehicle would fail to start up after multiple attempts without warning. After a few minutes, the vehicle's engine would eventually start up and resume normal operation. The contact also stated that the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they have yet to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

3 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2022

The contact's wife owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact previously had the canister purge valve replaced on three separate occasions. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a cracked fuel tank. The mechanic informed the contact that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

4 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that his daughter was unable to start the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the purge valve to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the failure a second time in 2022. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the purge valve to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the failure a third time on July 26, 2023. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the purge valve to be replaced a third time. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
