1 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2020

The vehicle was stationary in my garage. I was attempting to leave for work and the vehicle wouldn't start. I checked the fluids and checked battery cable and finally the vehicle started with hesitation. Warning lights 'sterring asist fault' 'low battery feature' an 'service advance trac' appeared. Could not turned the sterring wheel at all to back out of garage. Battery is 1year old should not be low.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2020

There was electrical malfunctioning taking place and the power steering was malfunctioning and the car would just stall and like lock up everything in it and everything would be flashing on and on inside on and off.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

When pushing the start button, the car struggles to start. The battery was checked and no problems were found. Sometimes the car does not detect when the drivers seatbelt is not on while driving or sitting still. The beeping sounds the car typically makes when backing, alerting the driver is a completely different sound now. Other beeping noises are also different sounds and pitches. The engine light turns on and off. Faint scratching noise under the hood. Windows will go down by themselves.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2020

When the steering wheel is turned all the way to either side, multiple alarm sounds go off in the vehicle including loss of power steering, loss of reverse sensors, loss of hill assist and loss of stability control. This occurs anytime the wheel is fully turned, either stationary or moving. This occurred 2 years ago in the same vehicle and they replaced the computer, after not finding any other issue. Now it is occurring again, same symptoms, same cause. A video can easily be sent if requested.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2020

I was driving down the road about approx 40 mph when my light went off saying that my traction controls were both on and in use. It was like my power steering went completely out, out of no where. I was driving straight and it also popped up that my steering and hill assist was not working. I was afraid to pull over and shut my car off and be stuck, so I drove it down the road a few miles more and turned it off in my parking lot. When I turned it back on, everything seemed fine. Also, after fueling my vehicle up, it has been rough idling for a dew and then will even out. When stopping at a light, it will also rough idle and even back out as well. I am at approx 65,000 miles, 2016 awd Ford Fusion turbo. I am due for an inspection and oil change next week and hopefully get some answers as to what it could be. It makes me completely scared now because I am a single mother with kids. After reading several other complaints that are just like mine, this doesn't seem like an isolated incident.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, when the steering wheel seized and unable to turn. The contact was able to park on the side of the road. The contact stated steering power assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to local dealer hennessy Ford Lincoln atlanta located at 5675 peachtree industrial blvd, atlanta, GA 30341, (470) 602-2073, where it was diagnosed with needing steering racking and parking sensor to be replaced. The contact VIN number wa associated to NHTSA campaign number: 18v167000 (steering). The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 93,000. Dp.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2019

All of a sudden when I was driving the power steering went out. The traction control also went off and will not come back on. I was on the highway when this happened and it will not come back on.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2019

While driving the car on both the highway and on city streets the steering locked and the power assist quit. The mil traction control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. The mil steering assist control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. In both driving instances the steering wheel was being turned from moderate (interstate highway speed) turning to sharp turning (city street speed). In both instances I was able to avoid hitting close, surrounding vehicles and in the case of the city occurrence, pedestrians. In both instances I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and shut off the engine and accessories. I waited about a minute and performed an engine re-start. The mil's were not lit and the power steering assist returned. In both instances the same condition appeared about 20 minutes later, and a engine stop/re-start had to be performed. I have included photos of the dashboard information center. This is a 2016 Fusion with 65,000 miles and I believe there is an electrical problem with the steering rack.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

Throttle body/fuel rail pressure sensor failure. I believe that there was a recall on this part for the earlier Fusion models, but not the 2016 models, and that recall should be updated. While either driving under 40mph or sitting idle, the car's engine would shut off while the electrics would remain on. This can cause other vehicles to crash into me and cause serious injury or worse.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle was at stand still on the outside of the garage, when changing gears from park to drive, the gear would go to reverse. The contact stated when shifting to park, the gear would show as in park but would still be on reverse. The contact stated the transition not on park warning message was illuminated on the dashboard. The contact stated her brother (independent mechanic) was able to repaired the vehicle by manually moved the gears to park. The contact stated later that day, while driving intersection she experienced the failure again. The contact called local dealer paul miller Ford located at 975 e new circle rd, lexington, ky 40505, (859) 317-2061, where made aware of the failure. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 78,000. Dp.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2019

I drive a 2016 Ford Fusion se awd with the 2. 0l ecoboost/gtdi motor. I was at a gas station refueling my vehicle, with the 87 octane fuel the oem calls for on the vehicle. I was about 1/4 tank before refueling and I filled my tank until full. Upon starting my car, I always turn the key right before ignition and wait for the fuel pumps to draw gas to the motor, then start it. Started seemingly fine, however, while I was resetting my mileage trip counters, I noticed, and felt my rpm's drop down into the 300-400 area and my motor shook my car. I kind of was surprised as my car had never done this, so I figured maybe it was just an engine stutter. But then upon waiting a few more seconds, it did it again, 4 more times and felt like my motor was ready to stall out. I was still parked/stationary beside a gas pump so I put the car in drive to go park myself in an actual spot so I wasn't in the way of other vehicles. I kept my car running in park to see if the rpm's would drop again, but upon waiting five minutes, it did not. The rpm's were a bit wobbly though on the tachometer but did not significantly drop. No lights on the dash came on. I wasn't taking any chances, I immediately called the dealership to have my car serviced. Turns out, my canister purge valve was stuck in the open position. Sounds all too familiar, accounting that Ford issued a recall for the exact same issue with many Ford focus models, with the exact same motor. This is a serious issue that can result in crash/injury or even death. No light came on for me and I only caught it because I was superstitious enough to bring it in regardless. This should be investigated, it is literally the same issue and I'm baffled as to how his hasn't been made into a recall by now. I know I'm not the only one who has faced this issue, so please, I ask for this to be investigated and deemed a recall as it's a big issue.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

While driving on the highway to work my steering suddenly locked up and jerked and then I got multiple alerts and lost power steering. The alerts were "service advancetrac" "steering assist fault service required" "hill assist not working" "service battery charging system" and there were two traction control lights. After work the traction control lights and alerts were still on and I did not have power steering on the drive home.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Poser steering will randomly quit along with hill assist and turn the airbag light on. Have been to the dealership where we were charged $140 to be told nothing was wrong now the pose steering is completely gone and will not reset.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2019

On Friday I was backing into a parking space and put the gear shift in park. The gear was in park but the car was still reversing! I immediately applied the emergency brake to avoid reversing down the hill into the tree at the bottom. I then turned the car off to see if that will assist but was not able to restart the vehicle. The dashboard continuously flashed transmission not in park! I contacted Ford which stated there was a recall on the car and to bring it in. I called Ford towing for a tow truck at 11 am and was not picked up until 7 pm by the time I reached the dealer the service department was closed. The next morning the mechanic reached out to me and stated he was going to be able to fix the issue and I would have to pay for it! which none of the problems stemming from the car was from something I did I do not feel as though I should pay especially when I received a recall letter stating the expenses will be covered when the parts become available. I spoke with someone from Ford and she told me to not pay anything to the dealer because the parts have not been approved. Yes they gave me a loner for the time being but it frustrates me that I have to deal with this and keep getting the run around on my vehicle. I am fed up with Ford at this point they should give me a new car since they do not even have an estimate as to when the part will become available!.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2019

On going! dealership here in florida states okay? stearing is a problematic , electrical systems need to be checked, turning needs to checked. They have my car listed as a hybrid? it is not. Multiple complaints.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

Transmission slipping despite car only being 2 years old. It has also had electrical issues. Must replace entire transmission.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

All off a sudden, it will take off then. I have to stop and reset all the safety issues.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

Ford Fusion recall: driving on the way home from the store and my check engine light came on along with a wrench symbol and a note on my dash to see manual while I was making a right turn I to my apartment complex. I took it to auto zone and they started it was the throttle body and it needed to be replaced, I took it to Ford after where they said it was covered and to bring it in on the 6th of Feb to have it fix. But then was told after they confirmed it was the throttle body that it was not covered. I only had the car 2 years and its problem after problem which nothing is covered under the warranty that I'm paying for.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

Driving on highway 60 miles warning lights come on check steering traction . Then the steering wheel tightened up in the middle of me driving.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2018

Vehicle in motion. After 40mph, service advancetrac lights on dash. Abs is activated even though on dry ground. Brake pedal becomes hard and drops about 50%. Stopping distance dramatically increased. Pedal pulsates under my foot. Traction control turned off. Hill assist turned off. This continues to happen every time I drive the car since mid November, 2018. The defective part is the tone ring, which is part of the wheel bearing and is very expensive to repair. Ford will do nothing about it even though there is no problem at all with the tone ring. The electrical problem is the harness that the wheel speed sensor plugs into on the left front wheel. The yellow wire has a hole in it and corrodes. Ford is also aware of this problem but refuses to do anything about it.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2018

I was driving on the highway and the main screen in the center of the dashboard turned off and had the message 'turning off system to save battery'. This was not an accurate projection by the car system being that I just recently installed a brand new battery a couple of days prior. As the car system continued to shut down, the alert of 'system charging service now' showed up on the dash. Following that message the power steering completely shut down. Shortly there after, the entire electrical system shut down in my car. Lights, steering, dashboard, electronic seats, doors, gear shift, everything! this all happened in the span of 1 minute or so on a highway at 11pm at night. I almost got into an inescapable acccident trying to find somewhere to get the car off the highway. Shortly there after the engine also cut off due to not getting any power from the car system. This is very unfortunate because this car is only 2 years old and I bought the car brand new off the lot.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2018

When I started the car multiple alarms sounded and the display showed the following errors: steering assist fault service required, service advancetrac, pre-collission assist not available, hill start assist not available. The car has 13514. 1 miles on the odometer at the time of this occurrence. The car had been driven less than 10 miles earlier in the day but had been parked with the engine off for nearly 8 hours. I did not attempt to drive the vehicle due to the difficult, if not impossible, chore of turning the steering wheel. I shut the vehicle off and restarted it several times attempting to see if the faults would clear on their own. No luck.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2018

My car was purchased may of 2017. August 13, 2018 I got ready to park my car, as I put my car in park the car was still moving forward as it was in drive. Confused I looked down at the handle and it was literally in park position, but as I looked at the dashboard it stated it was in drive. I could not get the handle to position back in any other position except for park. And at this point the car would not turn on at all. I contacted aaa they informed there was a recall on all 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion to replace shifter cable bushings. He took the middle console apart and showed me a pink strip and explained this is where the shifter cable disconnected from the transmission. He said the recall was recent and to contact my local Ford dealership where they are to replace it at no charge. I towed my car to my local Ford dealership after explaining in detail what happened to my car. They ran my VIN and told me to bring it in as it qualified for the repair. My car is indeed a 2016 Ford Fusion not even a year old and the bushing disconnected from my transmission. Everything was fine, until a technician called and at first informed me they were back up and had about 15 recalls before me. He said he had to replace the whole shifter bushing and it was going to be over a week. After I told him fine I will wait. . He then changes his story and says my car is not qualified to be repaired under the recall and that I was "misinformed" by their representative. I do not understand this. How is my car being the same make and model of the recall, and having the same issues as the recall not considered qualified all of a sudden because your too backed up? my children was in the car when this happened. I put my car in park and it kept rolling, if I had not thought quickly my car would have ran into the wall in park.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2018

It will not shift in to gear.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2018

This vehicle is at 48800 miles and I started to receive the following warnings/errors on my dashboard when the problems began: "hill hold assist not available", "service advancetrack", abs fault and airbag failure sign lights remain while I was driving the car. After these warnings I lost power steering assist and pulled over and restarted the car. However the warning signs did not clear and I lost abs, traction control and airbags. I have contacted with a Ford dealer to diagnose the problem. Error codes they got from the car were c0031 and u0401. The first one is related to a short wire in the abs wheel speed sensor at the driver side front wheel and this part was replaced at the dealer. However, after replacement all the mentioned warnings/errors remain and u0401 code remained. Dealer does not know whether these are just from communication error from the computer or these parts are actually defective. I am not able to use the car right now. In any case, all of the affected systems are not related with drivers driving habits, storage conditions and other things related to the usage of the car and seems like a manufacturing problem, even if it is a communication error or wiring problem. And the affected components are vital so if there is a production error, this should be resolved as soon as possible.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2017

Car sold at 30917 miles as certified. Engine light on at 41357 with codes for emission system and engine lights. Codes p0420 due to defective catalytic converter, engine misfire, vacuum leak, or engine oil leakage into exhaust. Very high gas consumption. Driving vehicle in normal acceleration on highway.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2017

Vehicle jerks when reversing.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

Madison, WI,west beltline hwy, headed west bound in middle lane, Jan 21, 2017, 11:00am: at 60 mph on 6 lane hwy car suddenly slowed to a crawl. A wrench icon appeared on the driver's dash panel with statement "check owner manual". As car slowed to a crawl (but did not shut off) was able to maneuver in traffic safely to the breakdown lane w/o control of car other than steering (auto steering continued to function). I pressed the accelerator but no response. This was repeat of a similar incident on Jan 11. Turn off car, waited 1 minute and did a re-start (much like my desk top pc. Immediately drove to middleton (WI) Ford dealer who had worked on car previous week (Jan 13-17) for same failure (a bent wire found). During the Jan 13-17 period the dealer in a road test experienced the same failure. Left car with dealer for a 8 days while out of town. Dealer could not repeat failure. Apparently discussed with Ford hq. Was told the file would be kept open and the bring it in again if it failed. My wife now calls car the "death trap" and refuses to ride in it!.
