general problems of the 2017 Ford Fusion

Coolant leaking into cylinder, causing sudden rough driving, engine overheating warnings that don’t match temperature readings and distract driving.

Have had to replace the same 2 coil pacs in last three months. Car will not accelerate properly will not shift into gears properly took to have information test done keeps coming back fouled 2 & 4 coils.

Engine has cylinders flooding with coolant due to the design of the ecoboost engine.

The temp gauge suddenly jumped up and alert said coolant was low. Driving on freeway, car shut down before I could get into a shoulder. Big rigs swerving around me, could have been killed. No leaks under car. Cap off the coolant reservoir and the coolant level bubbles up back to normal. After that, even driving one mile makes the temp gauge jump up and drop down erratically. Quoted more thank $8,000 to repair because it requires a new engine? Ford dealership said this is very common issue for Ford Fusions, that it is a design flaw and many of their clients have had similar safety scares.

Just got my car I’m financing (used) it’s been giving me problems since I got it slow acceleration, overheat . , engine stalling start and go option isn’t working . Can I have a professional assist me with a recall maintenance please.

I believe my 2017 Ford Fusion should be included in the recall for the becm for the 2019-2020 because my charging port has a sticker with qr code and ( cd391 phev ) and I keep having intermittent problems with the battery energy control module.

There is a recall on 2017 Ford Fusion's torque converter. I currently have a 2017 Ford Fusion. After inspection at a Ford service dealership, the "torque converter clutch internally failed filling the transmission filter with metal debris and starving the pump for fluid causing debris to go throughout the transmission. " the problem with this, is that even though it's list as a recall for ,y specific car, the recall is not listed under my VIN number. This inspection was done on December 17, 2024. The safety of myself and children were put at risk when my car hesitated to accelerate on multiple occurrences on busy roads and intersections. The problem has been reproduced by a Ford dealer and has also been inspected by a Ford service dealership. There were no warning lights on indicating that there was a problem.

Stopped at red light. When removing pedal from brake car would not move forward. Made revving noise when has applied. Car would not move but was still running. Could not drive car afterwards. .

I am having a lot of problems with my transmission and torque converter and after some research I’ve seen those are both commonly recalled parts on the 2017 Ford Fusion. My car only has 67,000 miles on it and I believe it’s too soon for this to be a problem. When I try to accelerate from 2nd to 3rd gear my tachometer shoots up and my car will start doing a jerking motion and won’t accelerate.

Evap system leak causes car to not start after putting gas in the car. Engine light stays on causing the key fob not to auto start the car. Loud knocking noise coming from the gas tank.

According to repair shop check engine light will remain on as anti freeze leaks due to a malfunction in my car. Repair shop states this is not a recall as it is not a safety issue and yet when I put on gas peddle car doesn't auto engage to proper speed. I also don't see how coolant leaking on engine wouldn't be safety issue.

My brakes are grinding squealing/rattling and I have pads replaced, no rotor wear, not sure what’s wrong. I’ve brought my car in to be serviced 3+ times and have left with no fixed car and worse brakes. When I bring up issues with my car that are related to the recalls the car has, they tell me those recalls don’t apply to my car although im having the same problems. My brakes have progressively gotten worse/louder and the pressure on my pedals is not the same. I’m scared to drive my car and I have been trying to get it fixed for months. This is not the only problem im having, my gas tank “farts” constantly and my car will stall and shut off unless I turn off auto start stop. There is no recall on this yet it’s a known problem. It makes the car undriveable.

My vehicle is displaying severe symptoms as well as throwing code of the already noted recall for other trims of this car but my car isn’t on recall list. I’ve had to replace the canister purge valve 3 times in less than 2 years, the vacuum seal is affecting fuel tank and honking every 15-20 seconds…when canister gets stuck open, I can’t start my car which happened yesterday in a busy intersection. It’s dangerous and I’m afraid to transport my kids in my car.

The antifreeze leaks into the engine due to a known manufacturer design flaw, is available to inspection upon request and appointment made. Mine and others safety are at risk due to the fact that if the engine seizes up while driving, could lead to a sudden crash. Problem confirmed by a local mechanic. Not been inspected by anyone else other than a different independent mechanic. The first sign of a problem is a check engine light, followed by a sputter in the engine and lack of consistent speed control, first appeared in February, and lead to 2 sets of spark plugs being replaced.

I went to my dealership because of a check engine light. After many hours of searching, I was told that a coolant leak had been found. I was informed that the head gasket was damaged and causing a leak into the engine. The cheapest repair would cost nearly $8000. The extended warranty that I purchased for the car has expired. Searching google, I see that Ford is aware of the problem, and has known about it for some time. Ford should not be able to get away with this.

Per Ford recall 23v-440, current interrupt device causes excess voltage, fire risk, toxic gas exposure. Dtcs: u1027 (abs/ecm loss), p2450/p2451 (evap stuck open/closed), p0dd2/p0dd6/p0dde (battery cell balancing circuits h/j/k/m stuck off). Vehicle available for inspection. Safety risks sudden power loss, fire risk, CO/hf toxic gas exposure from damaged cells. Hf idlh 0. 025 g/m³. Symptoms: headaches, cognitive issues, respiratory problems requiring brain mri. Ford documented 7 fires, 2 while driving. Gas events recur when changing charging amperage; CO detector alarmed repeatedly; hospitalized for symptoms. Dealer confirmation not investigated. No Ford dealer conducted required post-collision battery diagnostics despite dtcs proving multiple system failures. United insurance claims ignored [legal demand] for hybrid-specific inspections. No CO/hf assessment. Battery cell balancing failures indicate physical collision damage to high-voltage system. Inspections insurance: standard only, ignored dtcs requiring hybrid testing. Ford service (tempe, az) and Ford collision center (mesa, az): no inspection; reasons given a) lack capability b) we just scan the vehicle; we don't thoroughly inspect for gas leaks". Recall 23v-440 documents identical failures. Police: no report (real-time audio capture of admission of at-fault driver), no hazmat assessment. Multiple permanent dtcs prove need for Ford-certified diagnostics. Warning symptoms pre-collision: intermittent issues, check engine light, reduced range. Post-collision: reduced range, gas exposure symptoms plus dtcs u1027, p2450/p2451, p0dd2/p0dd6/p0dde showing communication/battery cell failures. Medical documentation available. Pattern confirms becm/battery damage per documented defect.

1). 3 days after purchasing the vehicle I wasn't sure but I could tell that something was wrong so I called my husband and told him while driving the car that something was wrong and he needs to notify the dealership. 2). 5 days after purchasing the vehicle I went into a grocery store. When I came out the car was on/running, all by itself. 3). Additional problems occurring on a daily basis with the vehicle which lets me know that it's electrical problems are as follows: a. The vehicle randomly turns on and off all by itself, this is very hazardous. B). The headlights also randomly do not work while driving the car, day or night, which is very hazardous for both me and my clientele, as I am a lyft driver. C). The interior lighting on the console and dashboard become dim or do not turn on at all, day or night. D). While driving the vehicle it does not always accelerate properly, which is very hazardous in traffic. E). The bluetooth system connects and disconnects itself randomly. F). The air and heating system randomly turn on and off without being touched. G). Charging my phone in the vehicle is also challenging as it does not always work. H). Bluetooth radio stereo system is continuously problematic, volume randomly increases and decreases and turns on and off by itself, even with the vehicle completely shut down. I). After locking the doors, everything inside the car does not completely turn off. Interior lighting sometimes turns off and on separately, and it can take up to 30 minutes for the dashboard lighting to go off. J). The instrument panel often makes some sort of sound/noise and the gear shifter dial will aluminate even though the car is off/completely shut down. K). While driving, front windshield defogger will randomly turns on, causing the windshield to fog up, distorting vision, which is very hazardous. L). Dashboard vents emit an extreme amount of heat even though both heater and air conditioner are completely off.

Humming sounds from gas tank. Car stalls and difficult to crank when getting fuel. Car has a horrible smell from gas fumes.

Car dies and fuel tank honks all the time even while putting gas in it won’t start or will die it happens at red lights all the time I have a hard time grit to start back up it’s very dangerous.

Vehicle started making noises from the gas cap like vacuum noises. After refueling, car seem like it was having problems starting. After letting it sit for a couple minutes at the gas station, the car cranked but started putting like it wanted to turn off. Got to a red light and car suddenly turned off. Message shown on dash : auto startstop disabled. Manual start required. Car still wouldn’t crank. Got a scanner hooked up to the car and it said evap purge solenoid valve. There were recalls on this type of problem but not the same engine size. This could have caused a fatal accident had traffic been moving.

All right, so I have a little bit of bad news for you, so we hooked up a code reader to the car. And there were a couple of misfires. So there's a cylinder to misfire a cylinder or a random misfire detected, a cylinder 3, misfire a cylinder one misfire. So our service advisor thinks that it's probably not an issue with a coolant. An issue with the head gasket, and he would recommend that that gets replaced. And he said, at some point, you might need to replace the entire engine.

Canister purge valve (cpv)” in this vehicle malfunctioned before reaching 75k, becoming stuck in an open position, which could create an excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system. Resulting in check engine low speed stalling and gas tank vacuum.

My gas tank does this sucking noise and it's been fixed once but it keeps having this same issue and cuts my car off. It takes 15 to 30 minutes before it starts up again. When I looked up the issue I noticed other for Fusions had been having the same problems.

Back in 2018, 1. 3 million Ford focus vehicles were recalled due to a fuel purge valve. Who's to say the same issue is starting to occur again, but to the Ford Fusions? my 2017 Ford Fusion that I purchased 6 months ago has this issue. It is a major safety concern! on my way to work in the middle of the highway, during morning traffic, my car decides to turn off causing a accident, but luckily nobody got hurt! while I was sitting there waiting for the police to arrive, I tried turning it back on, and luckily it did, but surprise surprise now with the service engine light on. When I got off of work my car turned back on (still with the service engine light on) and the same issue happened again 4 times on my way back home. I drove all the way back on the right hand passing lane because this is a safety hazard, and could easily cause a accident again! what it did exactly is it starts like a humming/vibrating noise that comes from the dashboard, I couldn't push on my gas, turn my steering wheel, and automatically goes down to 0 mph, and on the dashboard it asked me to put the car in p, and then turns off. Of course the warranty that I purchased didn't want to cover it, and now I have to pay $425 to have this fixed! Ford motor company needs to issue a recall before someone seriously gets injured!.

The owner/myself driving vehicle home my 2017 Ford Fusion se 1. 5l on the interstate when white smoke billowed out from the exhaust leading to a seized engine on a high traffic density highway. The car started to sputter, clunk and the check engine light kept flashing as I pulled off the side of the road. This car had issues before the failure of the engine with cylinders misfiring, spark plugs being fouled at low mileage and engine losing coolant. Per my vehicles breakdown I brought it to a local mechanic who worked for Ford and stated my engine locked up and needs to be replaced, after bringing my car to another shop for a second diagnosis, it was the same answer after a full look at it. I tried calling Ford in michigan they gave me the run around, my dealer fred beans of Ford gave me the run around saying I have to cover this repair due to it being out of my warranty. I did the program 19b37 recall from Ford which reset the computer system for antifreeze and coolant entering the engine. Clearly, that issue that Ford tried to patch up didn't work. My mechanic & Ford determined that a new engine was needed and have found bulletins stating this is due to a manufacturing defect known by Ford as Ford had released the bulletins. This defect leads to engine failure and is nothing caused by the driver but solely due to the fact that when certain engines were manufactured they were manufactured incorrectly. Ford is unwilling to pay for engine replacement even though they have admitted this is fault during the manufacturing processes if the engine is to stall or seize during driving this could lead to serious injury, accident, and even death. Ford is not recalling this engine at this time. Please - recall this issue. 1. 5 & 2. 0 engines are very problematic. The cost for my repair is $4,800. 00 that I don't have.

I / the owner of my 2017 Ford Fusion se 1. 5l had a seized engine occur on my commute home from work. White smoke billowed and brewed out my exhaust as I was in the right lane. I immediately pulled over to see what was going wrong and almost caused a collision for the person behind me. . After getting it towed the next day off the side of the highway I brought it to a reputable mechanic stating that this is a problematic issue with this vehicle and my engine block failed & cracked. Proceeding this, I went to another mechanic to get a second thought, just in case. Same response to the issue. Apparently, this is a huge issue with the 1. 5l. I was quoted $4,800 to fix this issue, money I don't have laying around, my warranty recently expired and both fred beans of langhorne & Ford motor company both told me to "pound sand" because of this issue. That this whole issue is on me to be fixed. Even though I brought my car in for the program 19b37 recall - which fixes the computer system to "prevent" this issue. My 2017 Ford Fusion was going to dealer for its 75,000 service and to update the software which was included in the recall. I told them engine light had just come on . . They diagnosed it as coolant in the engine and it had ruined the engine $6200 to fix it I have repeatedly called Ford for assistance for the damage related to this recall and now they tell me they cannot help me out . . It is my problem this is a three year old car that I wish I had not had fixed as I was confident that Ford being the good old american company that it is would do the right thing and be truthful and stand up and help me out with a problem that is clearly theirs please help me out I cannot afford this and it's plain wrong and unfair that I as a law abiding citizen has to cover this mistake by Ford t.

Car kept giving us a flat code for gears. . . . Saying transmission wasnt in park. Car wouldnt start or shift gears. . . This happened as we were driving the car.

Car stalled after accelerating moderately hard into traffic from a stop and then quickly turning left into parking lot.

As I was driving on the highway my car engine started cutting out and check engine light came on. Replaced spark plugs, fuel filter and coil pack. Problem did not resolve. Took car to chapman Ford in scottsdale az. They found that the fuel injector in cylinder 2 had stuck open flooding the cylinder with gasoline and compromising lubrication in that cylinder. Repair requires removing engine and rebuilding it. Vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it of which 95% is highway miles. If I wouldn't have known to switch it to sport mode and keep the rpm up until I could get to a safe location it could have stalled on the highway causing a collision. After doing research online found that this is a common problem with the ecoboost 4 cylinder motor and should be a recall item. Ford refusing to pay for repairs on a car that's just over 2 years old. With previous Ford vehicles I have always been offered an extended warranty but was not on this vehicle.

The windows go up and down by themselves and you can't put them up all the way or they will go back down by themselves and their is some kind of interference in the electrical system that comes through the stereo and lights. And this same problems happened 2 time's before this date below so it happened 3 times.

In may 2017 my Ford Fusion sport lost power to the wheels while accelerating, I was able to brake and coast to a stop on the side of the road. Turned vehicle off and issue went away. Took car to bob rorhman dealership in schaumburg IL, Ford and dealership states ntf, no trouble found, Ford corporate service managers also said ntf, case file 12313619-n2s9x3. On August 7th, 2018 the issue happened again as I was leaving work, I accelerated and car went into limp mode. I proceeded to the side of the road as I was getting honked at by other drivers, turned car off and on and the issue went away. I opened a new case file with Ford cas15469320 on 8/9/2018. The etb has been an issue in the past, reference �customer satisfaction program (13n03)�. I deem this a critical safety concern, if I was a Ford engineer on my fmea this failure mode severity is a 10, I work in automotive. I have photos and videos of the incident.

Brake are not working.

Engine stalled while driving. . Steering locked. Could not restart the car. Narrowly avoided an accident.

While driving my car there is an odor that smells like gas. I am not sure where it is coming from sometimes it's very strong others not so bad.
