The car will not shift. The bushing or shift cable is broken.
Known issue with flex plate: rattle noise that gets progressively worse over time and especially when in colder weather, the cold start & when idling causes the rattle noise to be worse, over the past two years the rattle noise is still there but now with some vibration as well. In 2023, took in to Ford dealership & told rattle noise was normal & not significant enough to replace (mentioned the Ford csp notice of the issue), progressively over the last two years rattling has been getting worse (especially when idling), took it to different Ford dealer and they confirmed it has been the flex plate (but now is outside of the csp coverage). No engine warning lights were on, which is more concerning as the rattling and vibrations worsen over time. Was told that if not fixed the whole car could stop & break down, which poses a safety risk. Multiple other customer complaints about safety issues and concerns with this known issue of flex plates cracking that Ford is not taking responsibility for as the csp doesn’t cover vehicles over 10yrs old or over 100,000 miles— leaving drivers with unsafe vehicles with crack flex plates.
Sunroof is leaking and maybe other areas. But it’s getting the ceiling wet around front are of the sunroof and starting to effect the radio playing and eventually probably the buttons on the ceiling.
First, we will start with every time I turn my car to the left the steering wheel box and the brakes skid then the abs sensor comes on then we will start with the car every time I put it into a gear. It automatically goes back to park, and I cannot move the car in any direction. When the issue first started, I could reverse then when I put the car and drive in the middle of the street it would automatically go back to park which could cause a crash I only have video proof of this.
My car is at 119,000 miles and 2019 Ford Fusion. I was driving on a local street when my cars warning popped up with a notice that my cars coolant was overheated. I immediately pulled over and turned off the car. My cars coolant tank was completely depleted. The problem was determined to be a coolant leak into cylinder 2. The check engine code of p0302 misfire on #2 cylinder. This issue had the potential to result in an engine fire and severe injury.
My daughters’s 2019 Ford Fusion/4dr sdn/sel/fwd began to run hot and my son checked and notice low on coolant. He filled back up and vehicle ran with no problems. A day or so later noticed again and my husband checked again and realized again and low again and checked all and no apparant leak in lines or hoses but short drive again to check it began to overheat and check engine light came on and he read up and becoming aware of issue with this coolant leak into cylinder. He took to sullivan Ford dealership and confirmed pressure test of coolant in cylinder # 1 and had to replace engine assembly. No offer by Ford to assist. Total cost 10,115. 66 for know issue per faulty engine design that was risk for fire and safety issue.
The rear backup camera when in reverse shows a blank screen. When switched to park or drive, a message appears on the screen that says camera unavailable with a warning sign. This began early June 2025. It does not happen every time but it is more often than not. I have had this looked at by a Ford authorized dealer however the problem would not arise for them to see it in action. Yes I can use my mirrors but it is useless to have a safety tool on a vehicle that is defective.
When I put my car in reverse, the backup camera freezes and stays on when driving down the road. Sometimes the backup camera turns blue and stays blue when driving down the road. This increases a chance of a crash risk. My 2019 Ford Fusion is not on the recall list and should be. Mountain view Ford in chattanooga, TN has confirmed my backup camera freezes and turns blue. This backup camera issue began approximately April 2025.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? answer: the hybrid system/battery caught fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company allstate, I believe should be available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? answer: the vehicle caught fire after just dropping my kid in to his school, the school has to be evacuated as the vehicle burned near the building. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? answer: there is an existing recall "phev battery cell degragation" from Ford. Here is the campaign/NHTSA#: 23s33/23v440 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? answer: the fire marshall and the police was present and we had police report(case num: [xxx]) and fire marshall report(case num: [xxx]) 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: I did notice an unusual behavior, like minutes before the fire the ac fan suddenly turned up blowing a non cold air, I attempted to turn off the vehicle 2 or 3 times until the fan and the vehicle completely turned off. I turned it back on to have ac again and it was good, after like less than 5 minutes I turned off the vehicle to get out of the car with my kid to drop him in his school. Minutes after I returned to the car, there was already smoke, had to call 911 after that. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Trunk is opening and car unlocks on it's on. Random also, display screen frequently goes black or freezes. Sometimes it will freeze on the rear camera when I'm driving down the road.
Cable shift bushings keeps coming off.
Shifter cable bushing fell out causing the vehicle to not go into park. Vehicle rolled into a garage door.
Rattling/clunking noise. When to an auto repair shop and was told it’s the flexplate. Was told of it wasn’t fixed car would eventually stop working. No lights came on. I see 2019 Ford Fusion do have a recall for my specific issue.
Was driving car to dealership for check signal that was appearing on my dashboard when suddenly the car stopped in the middle of the road with a knocking sound from the back and smoke filled the car and the trunk. At that point I exited the car in fear of getting caught in fire or getting struck by another vehicle. Had the car towed to a Ford dealership in watsonville California.
We have had to replace the shifter cable bushing 2 times in the past 2 years. This seems to be an issue with the Fusions.
My 2019 Ford Fusion while driving, the trunk opens by itself. It blocks the rear view of the vehicle. I had to pull over and close it several times while driving for this. I had to put a bungee cord around the trunk to keep it from opening. The trunk opening by itself is a safety hazard and the contents of what is in the trunk it exposed. I already spent over $210 in repairs with the dealer estimating the cost would be over $1100 including the wire harness from the body control module and including the body control module if the harness does not fix this.
My Fusion wont start and I have to let it sit for hours before it will start. I thought it was battery but had that replaced and had whole car checked and the firestone could find no reason why it wasnt starting. The engine light and battery showed up when it doesnt start but sends no error codes. Today I had to tow my car because me and my family pulled over to eat and got back in the car and it didnt start. This is the first time but what made it worse was having my kids in the car stuck in a part of town. I have exhausted every resource to try to figure out this problem but there is nothing. I think the cars ecu is faulty or something because it wont start again but if I wait for hours it will maybe start back up but thats not for sure. Im afraid to take this car on the highway because I think it may die while me and my family are in it and that is a big concern of safety. My car was bought brand new and under 60000 miles. There is no reason this car should be having these kind of problems. This puts alot of strain on my family and military career not saying im more important then anyone else just saying no one should have ot go through this. Yes vehicle is available for inspection if it starts.
This has happened multiple times now. Always happens at high speeds (greater than 45 mph). I will be driving on a highway when I unexpectedly lose the ability to accelerate. First noticed in correlation with the collision detection feature showing on the display as not functioning. That does not happen anymore, but I still lose the ability to accelerate periodically. Once I can safely remove myself from the flow of traffic and stop/restart my car the issue is resolved. Makes me believe this is electrical/computer origin. The vehicle was taken to the dealership twice where they claim “cannot duplicate” but are willing to replace any item that I will pay for out of pocket. The dealership does not want to honor my extended warranty. The vehicle was purchased new in 2019. Within one year they had to replace half my engine (which they decided to do without warning when I dropped off for an oil change). The vehicle was stolen in 2023 (recovered by me in under 24 hours). Multiple cosmetic issues were repaired by a Ford authorized service team. This issue presented about 1. 5 months ago 4+ months after the vehicle was repaired.
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious matter regarding the delayed resolution of a safety recall for my plug-in hybrid vehicle, a 2019 Ford Fusion energi, with the vehicle identification number (VIN) 3fa6p0su9kr169108. The recall in question was issued by Ford motor company in June 2023. As a responsible vehicle owner, I promptly responded to the recall notice and attempted to address the safety concern with my vehicle. Unfortunately, Ford has been unable to remedy the issue in a timely manner, and this situation is causing considerable inconvenience, financial losses, and most importantly, concerns about my safety and the safety of others on the road. My plug-in hybrid vehicle, which typically boasts an electric-only range of 26 miles when fully charged, has been rendered unable to charge due to the safety recall. Given that I charge my vehicle daily, this has resulted in 154 days, or 4,004 miles, of forced reliance on the gasoline engine. This not only contradicts the purpose and efficiency of a plug-in hybrid but has also led to approximately $300 worth of wasted gasoline, calculated using the irs mileage reimbursement rate. Furthermore, the anxiety and stress associated with driving a vehicle under recall are substantial. I am worried each time I get into my car that it may catch fire or suddenly stall while I am on the road. This not only impacts my daily life but also compromises the safety of myself, passengers, and fellow motorists. I kindly request the national highway traffic safety administration's intervention to ensure a swift and effective resolution to this matter. The delay in remedying the safety recall not only undermines the purpose of owning a plug-in hybrid but also places the safety of consumers at risk. I trust that the NHTSA will investigate this matter thoroughly and take the necessary steps to ensure a timely and satisfactory resolution.
I was notified in July of 2023 of a recall on the battery energy recall module for this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle to charge and have a gas backup. As a result of reading reports of the potential fire due to charging the vehicle and the notice to not charge the vehicle for safety reasons, I have not been able to use the battery and fuel efficiency part of this vehicle. Again, this is the reason for purchasing the vehicle and paying more for the car. I have contacted Ford and there is no fix in the near future. I am only told to continue to use the vehicle in gas mode. This is not an acceptable response and remedy for their issue. The vehicle value has now drastically reduced as no one wants to purchase a hybrid they cannot charge.
Remedy not yet available on your vehicle, the battery energy control module becm may become damaged as a result of excess voltage and current flow. Safety risk excess voltage and current flow through the becm can result in a loss of motive power which increases the risk of a crash, or a vehicle fire in the trunk area iam not able to charge my vehicle since July 2023 recall notice. I now have to purchase an extra $140 month in gas because I cannot use my charging system on the vehicle. I contacted Ford 1/20/24 1. 800. 392. 3673 spoke to customer recall service and they stated there is not date on a remedy. I requested compensation and requested them to open a case number for me to escalate a supervisor to speak to me and they stated there is nothing they can do.
Manufacturer recall number 23s33 NHTSA recall number 23v-440 Ford denied my buyback claim due to the vehicle being pre-owned, but with the open recall, I believe this vehicle to be a significant safety risk. My vehicle has limited functionality and reduced fuel economy in a model for which I specifically paid extra money. There is no fix in sight until the end of 2024 at the earliest, and there are other accounts of people's vehicles leaving them stranded or catching on fire! Ford does not have a fix for this vehicle, and a fix will not be available within a reasonable timeframe.
The current unresolved recall has impacted me numbered 23s33. This issue has impacted me since June 16 2023 and I have received minimal compensation. Due to rising gas prices in California, my inability to charge my car for my typical usage which was covered by the battery, and the higher purchase price I paid for this car, this recall has significantly impacted me.
My trunk continues to open when the release button is not being employed. This morning, on my way to work, it happened about 8 times. I had to bungee the trunk latch to my license plate so I could drive. I found a forum online that this has been an issue w/ several other Fusions.
Rear trunk lid opened on its own during the night. The car was locked.
Not sure what system is causing it but my trunk keeps opening and it’s done it many while I was driving. I understand a lot of other Ford Fusion owners are having the same problem and I urge you to look into the problem as it can cause accidents and deaths.
Wheel axle no good give out every 1-2 years have to replace.
Yesterday I parked my car and about 45 minutes later when I returned my trunk was open. This makes a few times now where I have parked my car and left, then when I returned my trunk was open. The first couple of times I dismissed it because the trunk was only open slightly. In one of the early instances I was standing there when the trunk opened by itself and thought it was because I hadn't closed it all the way. But yesterday the trunk was open halfway with the taillight flashing bringing further attention to it. There were no error messages or warnings (other than the taillight flashing). Yesterday when this happened, my car was charging at a public charging station. I suspect the taillight was flashing because the car was plugged in and charging. The other times this happened, it was not charging. This morning I googled Ford Fusion trunk opening by itself and saw multiple online forums with other Ford Fusion owners, who going back years, have been experiencing their trunks opening for no apparent reason. Some of them said it happens while driving. If my trunk were to open while I was driving the distraction would put myself and other drivers at risk. There would also be a danger if items started to fly out of my trunk. One of the forums suggested notifying the NHTSA about this issue. I also messaged Ford about this issue asking about a fix.
3 weeks after I leased the vehicle new, the windshield shattered without anything hitting it. It is now 3 months later and I above 7500 miles on the car and while sitting in stopped traffic the back glass exploded on its own. Ford corporate only accepted photos taken and submitted by the dealership to review the claim after telling me a technician will determine what happened. Ford said glass is not covered under warranty. I explained to them that I understand but I am mode concerned of the overall safety of the car after this happened. 2 phone reps and their supervisor repeatedly said there is nothing they can do, told me it is normal wear and tear, and there is no other phone number or department I can contact to further pursue this issue.
I was driving a avis rental car - Ford Fusion 2019 in an interstate from chattanooga, tennessee to dalton, georgia on 5/1/2019 Wednesday. I saw an error message on the screen all of a sudden (like communication error) and the engine just shut off, all lights turned off and seat started moving back. It was almost 15 - 20 seconds and I was terrified to just keep the car on middle lane and not to be hit by someone from behind. The guy who was in the passenger seat pushed the start button and it started and I managed to drive last 5 miles to reach hotel. I called avis roadside assistance and ask d them to register a complaint . I also informed the attendant when I returned the car at atlanta airport today.
