1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2019

Car warning light please pull over safely and then car looses all power has happed a total of 19 times in 4 months. Stopped me in middle if intersection today. Twice. Happens when driving or starting to drive from still position.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2018

The vehicle will no longer operate in electric mode. This is a major safety concern since there is no assist from the high-voltage battery powered electric drive motor. Upon accelerating from a dead stop, there is a significant lag before the ice kicks in and provides enough power to move the vehicle.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2018

The vehicle no longer operates in electric mode, using the high voltage battery to power the electric motor. This is a major safety concern since there is no assist from the electric drive motor. When accelerating from a dead stop, there is a significant lag before the gasoline motor engages and provides enough power to move the car. This is especially pronounced when making a left turn against traffic.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2018

The vehicle no longer accelerates under battery power. Time delay in acceleration due to decreased battery power, causing a safety issue.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2018

My car lost power while traversing a busy intersection and I had to pull over. Could restart, but then it happened again. Towed to dealers, $500 to replace throttle body and purge valve. Drove 1 day and similar events occurred. Dealer unable to get help from Ford company. Very dangerous to have a car just quit while driving. On a highway this could have been catastrophic. There are many complaints on line of a similar nature with Ford fusions from multiple years and I am very frustrated that Ford has not addressed a potentially disastrous safety issue. And I still don't have a car!.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2018

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid keeps going into "limp" mode even on the highway. This causes power loss and loss of acceleration. This can be at anytime. This keeps happening more and more and Ford does not know the cause or resolve.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2018

Throttle body defect. Vehicle lost power on highway and would not go over 50 mph. The vehicle went into safety mode, also known as "limp home mode". Dealer replaced throttle body, which solved the problem. The Ford "customer satisfaction program" involving the defective throttle body does not cover hybrid vehicles like mine, even though it has the same defective part. I complained to Ford and they created case #cas15334188.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2018

The car stopped while driving through the free way@55 mph. Do not accelerate. The engine vibrate and car shaking. After turn off and turned on the engine few times, the car was performing fine. The dealer checked. No malfunction code was detected. They told that 95% it is due to the clogging of electronic throttle valve. So replaced. I asked and they showed the old one. I observed no clogging or grease on the valve. It was clean. This parts/or throttle valve system was functioning. The car has 85,000 mile. I spoke to Ford about this safety issue. They don't do any because the warranty expire.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

Steering wheel recall. Constant stop safely now prompt causing the car to be unsafe on the highway. If I drive for an hour or more this begins happening at speeds over 60 miles per hour.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2017

Starting July 2017 I noticed that my the gasoline engine of Fusion Hybrid had developed a noticeably "rough" idle when it came on. It also ran "rough" and had an uneven throttle response. A yellow wrench would also appear occasionally on the display panel. The owners manual indicated a "throttle control/powertrain malfunction"and recommended contacting the authorized dealer. Bill collins Ford in louisville ,ky checked and ran diagnostics but could not find anything wrong. On September 25, while driving to work in the morning the car experienced a sudden drastic drop in speed going from about 65mph to about 30mph. The car become unresponsive to the throttle. The gasoline engine had completely shut down and the car was limping along powered by the electric engine. Both the wrench and the check engine indicators lit up on the display and stayed on. Luckily I made it off the expressway and got to work. This was very scary and I was lucky to not be rear ended or crashing the car. When I attempted to restart after about three hours the the gasoline engine came back on but with a very "rough" idle. I was able to drive the car to the dealership. This time they diagnosed a problem with the electronic throttle body and for about $600 replaced the etb, cleaned the "mass air flow sensor" and "reprogrammed the computer". However, the the car continues to idle "rough" and has poor throttle response, which were issues the car had leading into the loss of power on the expressway. The dealership does not know how to fix this problem and claims to be in touch the Ford factory engineers to find a solution. There is no response so far. Searching on the internet, I understand this is a known issue with Ford fusions particularly the 2010 model year. Nhtsa mandated a recall problem for 2010 fusions gasoline engines but not hybrid models!.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2017

The car was moving at 40 mph in a straight line on a flat road and the rtt light and two wrenches came on and speed dropped to 30 mph and no matter what, speed would not increase. Stopping and turning the key on and off solved problem for a short time then happen again. Ford has recall for throttle body except for hybrids why? car has 83,000 miles.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2017

Had to replace front wheel bearings 1000+ after only 80,000 miles. Additionally, had to replace a speaker for the back up system. What kind of idiots are they. Safety issue: I also to have throttle body work done 2 years ago and the last 10 days, 31 July to 9 Aug, have had 6 episodes of the wrench light coming on with two of them resulting in sudden deceleration on the freeway.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

While driving down the expressway (475) there was a loss on power and the car went into what is call the "limp home mode" while traffic surged around we making it very dangerous to travel at this slow speed. "wench" codes were displayed on the screen. After finding the nearest exit I restarted the car which put it back into normal driving mode and drove home. During the drive home the "check engine " came on but continued normally. Same thing happened the next day with loss of power and wrench codes.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

Engine light warning for the canister purge valve received. Ford news site (11/23/15) stated a safety recall to be issue for 2010-11 fusions for this issue and I believe we should have received one as our car falls in the dates stated. Our VIN is not listing this as a recall and we are having to pay out of pocket for a noted recall repair. Car was stationary when the engine light came on.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2016

On June 7, 2016, my wife was driving our 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid on a major highway when the wrench light came up and the car lost power and would not accelerate. The car was towed to north central Ford where it was repaired by replacing the electronic throttle body and reprogramming the pcm. The car has less than 58,000 miles on the odometer. Why does Ford exclude hybrids from this known problem and its associated customer satisfaction program 13n03, population of hybrids too small? it makes no sense. The part, failure symptoms and fix are the same as those in the Ford cars covered by 13n03. And why did the NHTSA allow Ford not to have a recall for the defective part, politics? cannot understand why this is not a safety issue.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

When driving on the highway at approximately 70 mph, the wrench indicator light ("limp home" mode) suddenly started flashing, and the gas pedal abruptly became unresponsive—the vehicle would no longer accelerate and could only coast. The abruptly decelerating vehicle was maneuvered across multiple lanes of traffic to the shoulder and turned off. Upon restarting the vehicle after a minute, it was able to resume normal operation for about 15 minutes, when the problem reoccurred, and the same steps were taken. It occurred again 90 minutes later. Symptoms correspond to other accounts of electronic throttle body issues, but Ford says that the vehicle is not covered under any recalls, extended warranties, or customer safety programs.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2015

While driving at speed car suddenly slows with a jerk. A wrench light comes on the dash. Throttle control/powertrain malfunction light and engine light illuminates. Car goes into "limp mode". Can't go over low speeds. Car is unsafe to drive.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

During normal driving, wrench light came one. Soon after the light came on the vehicle lost engine power. The car was taken to a Ford dealer and it turned out to be a defective electronic throttle body. After a bit of research I found out that Ford has a customer satisfaction program on this for certain vehicles but I was very upset when I found out my vehicle was not included on this program.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

I've experienced the "limp home mode" problem described in Ford's consumer satisfaction program 13n03. This has occurred 4 times now and is a very scary and very unsafe problem. I took my car to the local Ford dealer (david mcdavid) in fort worth. They determined the problem is a defect in the throttle body however they will not fix it under the terms of 13n03 as Ford believes it does not apply to the hybrid. I can assure you it applies. Perhaps due to the low number of fusion hyrid's on the road this has not yet received much attention. Please add the Fusion Hybrid to the list of models experiencing the limp home mode issue and urge Ford to correct it as part of 13n03.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2014

Car lost power while traveling down the highway. Car was towed to the dealer, who has told me the throttle body needs to be replaced. This will cost me roughly $500. The throttle body issue is well documented. It has been investigated by the NHTSA (action number pe13003). Ford doesn't want to call it a recall and the NHTSA does not call it a recall. Ford has agreed to fix about 1. 6 million cars under "consumer satisfaction program" 13n03. Unfortunately for me, the consumer satisfaction program is VIN specific. While many 2010 Ford fusions are covered, my vehicle is not.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

Intermittently lose response from throttle. Happens on start up as well as while driving. Car will not go over 45 mph. You have to pull over shut off the car for 5 seconds turn it back on and it will work until it happens again. May go days between incident but has happened 5 times in one day. I would not feel safe with the family in the car. The wrench does come one right before this happens. Dealership confirmed bad throttle body. Will not cover the cost of repair. Currently disputing with Ford.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2014

My hybrid experienced loss of power on 2 occasions. 1st was at approximately 33,000 mi on Sep 6, 2014. Driving 35mph on a parkwy wrenches appeared on the dashboard display & then sudden & immediate loss of power followed. No response to full accelerator push. Motor power shut down & only electric power allowed us to limp off the road, headed uphill at max speed of 10 mph. Vehic taken to dealer who could not replicate the conditions or "get it to act up" in the week+ a half the car was there. Odometer reading shows 700 mi put on presumably in effort to make diagnosis. Their suggestion was to pick up the vehicle since no diagnosis could be made, despite our protest that the car was unsafe to drive. Called Ford cust. Relationship ctr 800# on sep15 to seek assistance. Case was opened but no action taken. They concurred with dealer that no repairs were to be made without diagnosis. Again,we voiced concern that the car was unsafe. Dealer suspectd throttle body issue but without diagnosis insist that repairs would be at our cost $400-$500. 2nd occurrence was oct 2 2014. While driving in traffic experienced immed & sudden loss of power,no response to acceleration attempts, electric powered limp off uphill road at max speed of 10 mph. Was advised by dealer not to attempt starting the car once it died in effort to maintain error report in systm. We adhered to this advice and had vehicle towed to dealer a 2nd time without starting it. Dealer was at the ready with the phrase "throttle body" and asked if we had received any letters in regards to such. Vehicle was diagnosed as having carbon buildup that caused throttle body to short out. Repairs made at our expense $709. Numerous complaints are documented on the NHTSA website of throttle body issues! hybrid owners have reported as well. Ownrs who have had to pay for repairs of defective parts out of their own pocket deserve compensation by Ford.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

I was driving at about 30 mph when a yellow wrench light icon came on. The car stopped accelerating, and it seemed like only the electrical power from the battery was keeping it going. I had just exited a busy freeway where people were going 65 mph and higher, and if I had not just happened to exit I fear I would have had an accident.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2013

Vehicle suddenly lost power and was unresponsive. Dashboard indicated "double wrench" warning. Upon coasting to the side of the road, vehicle was able to be reactivated and drove normally from this point.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

When driving on the highway at 65 miles an hour, a wrench light went on in the car and within seconds the car lost power and I was only able to go 20-30 miles per hour. Got off the highway, pulled over at a gas station and turned the car off. After about 15 minutes I turned the car back on (thinking it might have been an issue with my hybrid battery), the car seemed to working okay but just to be safe I drove the car 10 miles to the local Ford dealer. The service advisor took a quick look at it and agreed that it was the battery (said it had probably gotten too hot) and told me the car was okay to drive. Went to grab lunch and then 45 minutes later got back on the highway and as soon as the car got to about 60 miles, the same thing happened. So again I got off the highway and going about 10 miles per hour went to another Ford dealer to have them look at it. They determined it was a failed throttle body and replaced it the next day.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2013

Why has nothing been done yet? I'm a fairly poor upstanding member of society, and I was trying to be green. Now I'm stuck with a $16,000 go cart that I cant drive on a highway because it can't go over 35mph. I had 2 yellow wrenches on my dash. I was stuck in a one lane rode with no place to pull over and about 100 people honking at me. I have been a faithful Ford owner for over 13 years; I've been telling my friends and CO-workers how great they are. Now I have to beg for them to fix my car, or I can go get ripped off by my local dealer. Please help. I thought you people were better than this.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2013

I was on the left lane going 55mph on a freeway up a slight incline when I noticed I was losing speed. Pressed the gas pedal a little harder thinking I needed to compensate for the incline, but the car would not accelerate. I noticed a yellow wrench appear on the left side of the dash display. I had the gas pedal to the ground and car still would not accelerate but decelerated all the way down to 30mph where it stopped decelerating and maintained this speed. I had to maneuver at 30mph off the freeway to get into the right shoulder lane. Turned the car off, then back on. Yellow wrench no longer visible and car operated normally. This poses a very dangerous situation. Luckily it was not during rush hour traffic and the cars behind me yielded to my hazard lights and let me get to the right shoulder lane.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

I was driving on the freeway and had just exited to a surface street. The vehicle suddenly slowed down and wouldn't go over 15 miles per hour. A red triangle and a message appeared on the instrument panel. It said something like you may now safely pull over and come to a stop. Thankfully I was not still on a very crowded freeway when this happened. It would have been very unsafe to be in the left lane of one of the most crowded freeways in the country and the car suddenly will not go more than 15 mph. I took the car to a Ford dealer the next day and they could not find anything wrong. The diagnosis cost me $200. I am very hesitant to drive this car now.
