The contact owns a 2014 Ford fusion. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s and driver’s side seat belts failed to latch securely. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
A safety recall (16s42) was issued for "seatbelt pretensioner cables may separate during deployment and may not restrain the occupants in a crash". All the Ford dealerships around me (zip 95008) say they cannot do the recall until January 2018. This seems like a serious problem that should be addressed much more quickly. Ford should provide more parts in a timely manner and allow dealerships to do the repairs. I was told that by a dealership that they are allowed to only do so many of these repairs per week and that is why their appointments are so far out. I do not feel comfortable driving myself and my kids around until January of next year in a car where the seatbelts might not work.

Recall 16s42. Still waiting on a remedy for my Ford Fusion Hybrid 2014. I don't believe that it should be taking this long.
My car has had an open recall for the seatbelts since 03 Nov 2016, and there is still no remedy available. This is in addition to several other recalls, including one a couple days ago for faulty door latches, and the overall poor quality of the vehicle. I can't even trade it in because no one wants a vehicle with an open recall. I feel that five and a half months is an excessive time for a recall to still have no remedy.
I have an 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. After reading all of the complaints from other drivers, I want to be pro active and find out what part, exactly is on back order for so many years. The NHTSA campaign number: 14v597000 (air bags, seat belts); Jun 16, 2015 please advise me, and since all I need is the part. . . Go get one off the assembly line. I just love my Fusion Hybrid and I refuse to give it up. I purchased it at the dealership for an on line custom built to my specifications and the thing is loaded. I don't want to say, I don't care who dies in my fusion, as long its not me. So, you don't need to ensure I won't die just make sure I can purchase this part from the dealer or part store. On 4/29/2014 the rear driver side seat belt receptacle broke when trying to latch seat belt. Today, 6/26/2014, the passenger rear seat belt receptacle broke. These are Ford's new seat belts with airbags in them. The receptacles seem to be cheaply made. I have been waiting for 6 weeks to get the first one replaced because Ford says they are on back order.
