Front Seat Belt Anchorage problems of the 1998 Ford Mustang

Four problems related to front seat belt anchorage have been reported for the 1998 Ford Mustang. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Seat Belt Anchorage problem

Failure Date: 01/28/1999

The front seat & shoulder belts will not stay in the guides provided for them. It may be that in a frontal collision they will not function correctly. I have seen other Mustangs with a different style of guides. They look as if they might function correctly.

2 Front Seat Belt Anchorage problem

Failure Date: 11/24/1998

Vehicle's suspension design is not stable with light rear end causing the weight distribution to be off balance, consumer experienced vehicle collision due to loss of traction control in the rear end crashing into concrete wall, seatbelt did not lock up properly resulting in minor injury. Mjs.

3 Front Seat Belt Anchorage problem

Safety seat belt slips out of the guide continually due to design location.

4 Front Seat Belt Anchorage problem

While stopped a traffic light another vehicle hit the rear of the consumer car at 30-40 mph, the drivers seat back broke and the seat belt released from the buckle causing the driver to slip under the steering wheel, the driver sustained severe strain to the neck and bruised right ankle and leg, the passenger also received a strained neck.
