The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that when her husband had attempted to fuel the vehicle, he was unable to completely fill the fuel tank. The contact stated that he said either the filling station nozzle would shut off or he could not manually get the flow of gasoline into the fuel tank. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but late last year they could no longer fill the fuel tank and placed the vehicle in storage. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer prior to the storage decision. The dealer had advised the contact that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that there was a manufacturer technical service bulletin number: 05-15012 for the failure, however the contacts vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA safety hot line. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Recently purchased 2005 Ford Mustang and was told upon sale that there was a problem with the fuel gauge. I figured it would be easy enough to fix so wasn't really concerned. Now a week later I noticed the speedometer doesn't work as well. It sticks on 15 mph for periods of time or then will show at least 15 - 30 mph faster than I am actually going. I searched online for a fix and found thousands of threads of individuals with the exact same issue and even copies of letters sent to owner stating that there wasn't a recall because it's not a safety concern. I bought this car for my daughter. Running out of gas late at night because her fuel gauge is broken is a safety issue. Sure can she write down mileage every time she gets gas, yes. But after reading so many comments by so many people it seems as if this issue should be resolved by Ford. Seems to be isolated on the 2005 only. In addition not know your speed limit is also a safety concern and also a financial concern should you get pulled over having no idea how fast you are driving. Its seems as if the entire cluster of gauges are faulty and need to be addressed. Your response or help in getting Ford to rectify is greatly appreciated.
Gas gauge erratic. Then failed last August. Ford says must replace entire cluster at cost of $450-650 plus labor this seems to be a common problem on this model. Only 45000 miles on this car. Cost seems excessive. What is Ford doing to back this up?.
First the gas gauge hand would stay on empty even when filling up or it would go straight down way past the full mark. Never know how much gas I have. Now the speedometer is not working properly. It will either stay at 0mph while I'm driving or say I'm going 20-30mph when the car is shut off and not even running. At times it says I'm going 110mph when I'm driving through town which is a 35mph and clearly I am not driving 110mph. I find this to be a great hazard to other drivers since I never know how fast I'm going. After doing internet research it seems many Mustang owners have this same issue. I feel that having a defective speedometer is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed if safety is really important to the NHTSA.
Gauge cluster not operational. Speedometer inaccurate. While sitting at a stand still will read 70 mph, or other measurements. Tachometer not functioning a majority of the time. Sits below 0 at all times of operation.
During rain, the entire electrical system shut down. Radio, windows, headlights, taillights, turn signals, hazards, door locks, keyfob, fuel gauge, oil pressure, coolant temperature gauge, hand brake indicator, traction control system, brake switch (for taking car out of park), starter (once the car is turned off, it will not start again). Any substantial rain results in water pooling in passenger side foot area, and saturation of fuse box area, which provides concerns for a vehicle-wide loss of electrical power and brake/steering control. I have looked at several online owners' forums and there are numerous cases of this commonly-documented safety problem. I have had the vehicle in for this exact issue before and the problem could not be located (or reproduced)during rain, the entire electrical system shut down. Failure of instrument cluster and water leak in passenger side foot well. Speedometer non-functioning, fuel indicator non-functioning, and engine temperature gauge non-functioning. Provides serious safety hazard without knowing vehicle speed. I have looked at several online owners' forums and there are numerous cases of this commonly-documented safety problem, but Ford motor company refuses to address it until NHTSA issues a recall. I have called fmc, and they refused to address the issue.
My Ford Mustang has now 32k miles on it purchased new and only one owner/driver. All of my instrument are no longer working or work erratically. I am having problems knowing what speed I am traveling, if there is gas in my car. I am a woman who does not like to get stranded on the highway and this is now a big fear. I cannot tell what my speed is and therefore am very leary driving unless with traffic so I can keep with them. It is apparent alot of others are also complaining about the same problem to the point it starts to cause transmission problems. Is there something we can do to get this up as a recall, what options do we have? I cannot afford to replace all clusters for 600-700 dollars and find out it is still having problems. Any suggestions?.
My 2005 Mustang gt on occasions the fuel gauge will drop to empty and I will get a message of low fuel. At times it will go back to the normal position but most of the time I must restart the car for the fuel gauge to return to normal. This occurs perhaps 3-4 times per week.
I am not sure exactly who to send this to. I am contacting you about a vehicle safety issue. This is about a 2005 Ford Mustang. I have talked with the Ford dealer about this and they are unwilling to help. This is a known issue with this vehicle model according to the Ford dealer service dept and I would assume other Ford vehicles with this engine. This Mustang has 60,000 miles currently. This issue has been going on since approximately 45,000 miles. The issue, according to the dealer service dept, is with the engines throttle body. Apparently the throttle plate bushings become worn and allow the plate to become stuck shut. This causes the engine to become "stuck" at idle. This has resulted in multiple near miss vehicle accidents. This has happened quite often when trying to pull out into traffic from a stop and the car will not accelerate when the gas pedal is pushed, even to the floor. The car just idles into traffic or the engine dies completely adding the problem of no power steering. I have two vehicles that were affected by safety recall 07s57. This seems to me to be a similar safety issue and thought I should contact the NHTSA. I am not sure who to contact about this for help. If this is not the correct place to send this can you forward it to someone or reply to me with info. Thank you matt mitchell san antonio, TX.
My 2005 Ford Mustang shut totally off while traveling in the left lane of a busy interstate highway in nc (I-95n). I managed to get off road and had the car towed to a dealership near fayetteville, nc. The diagnosis was a bad mass air flow (maf) sensor. I feel that a vehicle should go into a fail-safe mode and not totally shut down due to a minor issue such as a bad maf sensor. Under slightly less favorable road/weather conditions, this dangerous vehicle fault could have resulted in an accident.
The fuel gauge began to act erratically before ceasing to work altogether. I took the car to fairway Ford (placentia, CA) and reported the problem. The service writer dismissed me by saying the repair was too costly and that there was no known universal problem with the 2005 v6 Ford Mustang. He did not document the problem reported on my service record. I have a colleague with the same year and model who has the same problem.
Just bought car 1 month ago and there are several technical service bulletins on my 2005 Ford Mustang gt. All of which my car is experiencing. Hesitation on acceleration , loud knocking noise from under hood at low speed turns , extremely difficult to pump gas , pre-mature automatic shut-off , most of which pose safety issues . I called then 48 hours after buying car to ask can I bring it back to repair which they quoted me 2000. 00 for a differential issue on a car that has 17,646 miles. Called Ford relations they said im responsible for all repair costs even though they are listed as manuf. Defects. . Since they are TSB and not "outstanding recalls" they can't help.
At 43,000 miles the check engine light would come on and then go off. The engine rpms will surge up and down when first starting and there seems to be a greater amount of exhaust visible. The warranty Ford dealer for this area in germany (kohlhoff Ford in mannheim) checked the vehicle and determined that the engine air/gas control sensor (anti-knock sensor) is defective. This is a 50 state emissions control vehicle (California) but Ford warranty advisor states that the warranty is only when it's in California. I am stationed overseas. So the 3 year, 50,000 mile warranty for this and the 8 year, 80,000 mile emissions warranty is not covering this. Replacement parts are on order.
Fuel gauge drops to empty, sometimes comes back while driving. Seems to always read normal after turning ignition off and back on.
