Ford did issue a recall for several issues for my car, including but not limited to, problems when filling gas tank with evaporative purge system as well as cavitation of the fuel pump in high heat conditions, the doors not closing all the way or handles remaining open( not flush with rest of door) when door is shut, driver's side door trim/bezel around power window switch making buzzing sounds when stereo is in use, as well as ticking sounds coming from motor during operation and various creaks and sounds from front suspension when cornering and going over uneven terrain, and the transmission, the 5r55s, has the known hard shift into gear caused by bad servo. I have reached out to the dealers in my area regarding these issues and even though my car is the correct model and year for the service recall bulletins and has the exact issues described there in, I am told that the VIN on my car is not covered even though it is clearly suffering from equipment that exhibits all the same problems listed in the recall. I feel the responsibility to perform and pay for these repairs should fall on the manufacturer, not I, the customer.
Filling gas tank is a nightmare, the first batch of the newly remodeled vehicle. When filling it it'll pump for 3 seconds and then click off and shoot gas out because it thinks it's full so you have to click it on the lowest possible setting. It's a 16 gallon tank and if it's completely empty the first eight gallons will pump fine anything over that because of the way the tank is shaped is where the airlock is and that's when you can barely touch the gas lever before it clicks off and shoots gas up it takes me 20 minutes to fill up so anything before the half a tank mark will fill normally but once it's over half a tank is when the problem arises. From all of the forums that I've looked at for this new remodeled 2005 year this was a common problem and the Mustangs built for the first 6 months and judging by the belt date mine was in March so far well within the first 6 months. When I pulled out the extra gas that dripped onto the ground caught on fire so I had to jump out and luckily I had a fire extinguisher in my trunk but that was terrifying because I'm at a gas station and the whole thing could have went up in flames.
While driving home just as I was switching lanes, the car sputtered badly and a wrench light appeared on dash. Since then, the car did not exceed 20 miles per hour. As I conducted research, a lot of Mustangs have this issue and it is theorized to be the throttle body.
Throttle body failed as I was driving at speed on the freeway. When it failed, the vehicle immediately went into idle mode which made it very dangerous to avoid traffic as I attempted to move onto the shoulder of the freeway. The car moved at no more than 5mph! the repair is very expensive. I feel that this part should not fail after just 76,000 miles. Attached is the repair bill.
When I shift from park or neutral position to drive, the car surges forward. This has happened both when the car is in driveway stationary and intermittently at a stoplight. The date below that is required is incorrect; it has been doing it since I got the car I believe in Feb 2005, but I didn't think of it being a safety issue until it was passed down to my daughter this year; for someone that isn't prepared, it could easily cause an accident.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle after a gallon of fuel is put into the vehicle the fuel expels fuel back on the contact. The vehicle taken to a dealer where they refused to diagnosis or repair the vehicle. Ford issued out the TSB NHTSA: 10019387 for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of failure. The current vehicle failure mileage was 35,600. Kh.
Gas pedal stuck going down hill resulting in auto running off road and over a cliff. The driver is on life support, the passenger paralyzed with a broken back. The pedal stuck one time before and it was not thought to be a recurring problem. As a result of the serious injuries, I am filing for them.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while it was raining the contact was pulling out of their driveway and the vehicle began pouring water from the dash board. As a result there is a burning smell coming the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact did replace the cabin filter for the vehicle however the problem has recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 72,453. Kh.
Purchased the vehicle used and every time I go to fill up the vehicle with gasoline it seems to be dificult to insert the nozzle all the way in and gasoline spits out. No record of accidents claims and visual inspection doesn't seem to show any damage to the assembly. No unusual bends in the neck of the receiver where you insert the nozzle.
The vehicle began stalling at low speeds, in traffic, at red lights/stop signs and while turning. Several very close calls to date. You must restart engine during a turn often with other motorists bearing down on you. There are many complaints on this site and when you do a search on the internet. The dealership is also aware of it because they tell you right away that you will need a $500. 00 part to fix it and that does not include labor. I have also been told by a few mechanics that this used to be solved by replacing the idle air control switch, about a $40. 00 part. That part is not offered with this year and model but it comes on the $500. 00 part.
I was accelerating out of a 45mph area to a 55mph and around 50mph the car jerked and the electronic throttle control light came on. The wrench icon on the dashboard. The car seemed to have lost most power but still ran.
I have a very hard time putting gas in my car . Allows me to only put a little at a time. It is very frusterating. I shouldn't have this problem every time I put gas.
Hesitation in gas pedal/throttle body. When pulling out from a stop there is a hesitation in gas pedal. Push down on pedal and there is no response until pedal is down about half throttle and then car will leap and stay at half throttle at which time I let off gas pedal and continue to repeat process until up to a speed of about 30 mph. Very dangerous situation. Every one I talk to about this says it is a common problem with this model, 2005-2014 Ford Mustang. How many have died from this problem and how many more will die or be injured before a recall is issued for this dangerous problem?.
Returning home from work, the engine stopped operating. I pulled onto the median and managed to bring my vehicle to a stop. The check engine light as well as other icons were lit up on the information panel which indicated there was still electrical power. After a couple of attempts the vehicle started and I proceeded on my way. Traffic was heavy by this time. Within the next mile or so the vehicle stalled an additional 4-5 times particularly when stopped at intersections. I managed to restart the vehicle and proceeded directly to the auto dealership since it was on my way.
After coming to a stop, I try to accelerate and the car stalls and jerks into gear. I was told that the throddle was dirty. I had it cleaned and got a new air filter but was still experiencing the same problem. The next step was to replace throddle sensor. The mechanic advised to check the recall list and I several people who experience the same problem with no help from Ford. I saw this site and decided to post.
The instrument cluster on my 2005 Ford Mustang has a shortage or is defective. Based on internet research and a discussion with an authorized Ford dealership and my long time auto mechanic, this is a part that should not fail at 73,000 miles. While Ford has not issued a recall, there is an obvious manufacture defect, as there have been numerous complaints and issues reported. When a gauge (fuel, temperature, battery, etc) fails on this vehicle, the entire instrument cluster must be replaced. This is a costly part and service fee (over $900) for something that should not be defective or have issues with a car of this age. When the instrument cluster signals an issue to the internal computer, the vehicle may go into a "fail safe mode" and the car will not operate. Ford needs to issue a recall for this part and replace it at no cost to the owner.
I was told that these items, the fuel gage, tachometer parts of the instrumentation cluster are faulty in most 2005 Mustangs. There have been so many problems that Ford changed it for 2006 models. I was further informed that if enough owners complained that a recall would be activated. Hopefully I'll be hearing from you and or Ford motor company. Thank you.
Vehicle regularly stalls out at stops and/or loses power (accelerator will not give proper power to vehicle) so that in an intersection there is no ability to get vehicle out of traffic safely. Also will lurch forward at stops on its own (with no power given to accelerator) which poses a safety issue for other drivers and/or pedestrians in my path.
One incident, driving home from work when car ran out of gas and saw the as gas guage indicator facing straight down, temperature guage and the tachometer was not working. The car ran out of gas on major high way and my daughter alone stuck on the road at 3 am with large trucks passing by. She had believed the car had plenty of gas. The guages are still not fixed properly do not work at 100777 miles.
2005 Ford Mustang - occasionally driven car - driving on a 2 lane road, passed a car at full throttle, went to let off gas, patted pedal to release with no results, then turned off engine, came to a stop, started the car back, throttle was fine and have had no repeat of problem. Car driven 5,000 miles since. Did not report to dealer.
Gas gauge stopped working. Always shows empty.
None of the gauges work. I have to drive pacing myself with other vehicles. Only the icon for gas needed comes on when the gas is low. Starting after about 10,000 miles on the car I have had increasing problems getting fuel in the car. Not just myself, but anyone that tries to fuel the car. I initially started holding the fuel nozzle upside down to get gas and that worked for a few years. (although you look like a dumb ass that doesn't know how to put gas in a car!) this last year it has gotten so bad that I am lucky to get 2 gallons in it, and that is with it repeatedly shutting off. Since day one the right front wheel makes a grinding/clunking noise when I turn the tire in either direction. It makes me feel like the wheel will fall off. My cars body assembly is also crap. The front lower grill has popped off and disappeared. I have seen several, at least 10 other Mustangs of this year missing the same part. The plastic, yes plastic!, screws pop out. The places where the inside seams of the car are supposed to connect are detached. The light enclosure in the trunk will not stay attached. The seat handles fall off. I only have 50,000 miles on this car. Repair shops tell me to wait for a recall, when is that going to happen?.
