general problems of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Previously filed complaint odi# 10319368. Parking brake will not disengage, passenger side rear brakes and rotor had to be replaced at the tune of $200. That was 4 weeks ago and it is happening again. Google 2006 Mustang defects and this seems to be a common issue due to a faulty rubber boot. I bought the car used from a Ford dealer (it had 4000 miles on it and less than a year old. Most places want to charge several hundred dollars to replace. Vehicle has 31,000 miles, this is crap!.

Parking brake "freezes", brakes overheat and warp rotor.

After the unusually cold weather my rear brakes are not working as well as they were before. The brake pads have been replace 3 months prior. The emergency brake is now loose. Now that the temperature is warmer,the emergency brake lever is still loose and it still feels like I am only braking with my front brakes. I have not had this repair yet because I cant afford it at the moment.

I am contacting you to attempt to urge Ford motor company to issue a recall on the large numbers of issues on 2005-06 Ford Mustangs (reference TSB 06-5-4). This TSB refers to a defective brake cable originally installed on these cars in which the rubber boot is prone to premature failure. This failure allows moisture into the brake housing. In very cold temperatures the parking brake will freeze disabling the vehicle. I have pursued repair of this issue with my Ford dealer as well as Ford customer service. They state that at this time the number of failures have not required them to issue a recall. This is their position eventhough the fix is to replace the oem hardware with upgraded materials. This is clearly a failure in a component and should be addressed regardless of the warranty which expired less than 2 months ago. I would appreciate any assistance to urge Ford to remedy the problems that so many of its customers are facing and issue a recall for the defective parts.

I own a 2006 Ford Mustang gt. The parking brake has faulty seals causing water to wander past them and freezing my brakes when its cold. It has done this for three years in a row and im so sick of it. Other Mustang owners are having similar problems and I don't think this should cost the consumers to fix correctly.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that when the temperature was below freezing, the parking brake would become stuck in position. The contact was able to get the brake to release but the vehicle would not move until the vehicle had been running idle for at least 15-20 minutes. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was told that water was getting on the cable for the parking brake and freezing. The mechanic stated that there was a boot that stood straight up and allowed water to enter the cable and freeze. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.

2006 Mustang gt when it gets cold the parking brake freezes not allowing you to drive the vehicle. This happens any time its cold!.

On 3 occasions when I did not leave my car in gear even though I engaged the emergency brake on a flat surface my car rolled so the e brake does not work I always leave my car in gear now.
