1 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

A complete failure of the electrical system due to a design flaw where a main electrical wire harness inside the firewall on the drivers side fills up with water over time and soaks the wire harness causing a complete failure of the car to operate. This leading to a breakdown in traffic and dangerous necessity to get out into traffic to escape electrical smoke.

2 Body problem

Leaking water from inside of dash compartment and my carpet is all wet when it rains.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

I have a 2007 Ford Mustang with 8101. 9 miles. I only drive this vehicle during warm seasons. I notice this spring that my rear widows is pulling away from the convertible top. I called a window repair shop for what I thought was a simple repair and I was told that the entire top would have to be replaced. The told me that due to the convertible top shrink over time that the window pulls away from the window. They stated that Fords has correct this problem with near models then mine to stop this issue. He told me to repair this issue on my car it would cost $2000. 00. I find that not fair that I would be responsible foe this issue since its a defect in the convertible top and not my fault. This issue happen because of the construction of this product and not mine. I contacted Ford motor company about this issue and they said they could not help me. So by this issue deals with the rear window and is a safety issue, I am reporting this defect in the vehicle. My car was in storage away from the elements and the to[p shrunk in size and caused this to happen.

Stafty.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2015

Car was parked in my driveway and after a rain storm I noticed the passenger floor was soaked with water. Water leaks in from the cabin air filter and drips onto the fuse junction box on the passenger side of the car. When drain holes in cowl gets clogged water builds up and then pours in the cabin filter then into passenger side flooding carpet. As water drips down it makes contact with the f j b and starts to mess with the electrical parts, ie power windows go up and down by themselves, dash light won't shut off, radio will not turn off and convertible roof keeps trying to go up and down. Only fix is to replace and reprogram the fjb but Ford no longer makes this part because of the known issues. I am told either to wait for replacement unit to be developed or buy a used one and hope it will work either way still have to pay $400. 00 for part and $250. 00 for reprogramming. This is a known problem that is being passed onto the consumer . This has happened to not 1 but both of my Mustangs 2005 and 2007 , same style with same problems.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2015

The 2007 Mustang pulled out from the side-street in front of an older chevy pickup at a tee intersection in a suburban neighborhood with very restricted sight distance, and was t-boned on the driver's side by the pickup travelling at around 35 mph. The driver's side of the Mustang was severely damaged to the extent that the left front wheel/tire/suspension assembly was ripped off the car. The point of impact was between the left front wheel and the middle of the driver's door. The Mustang is a one-owner car which was bought new and was specifically purchased with side airbags (an option on 2007 Mustangs). The vehicle has been well-maintained. The airbag tab was visible on the seat side bolster. Despite the severity of the impact, the side airbag did not deploy. We have photos documenting the positioning of the vehicles and the damage to the Mustang, including showing the side airbag tab and side of the driver's seat with the side airbag obviously not deployed. We believe that the side airbag was defective since it did not deploy. Note: the steering wheel airbag (subject to the takata recall but not yet replaced) did deploy correctly.

12 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2014

I stopped at a stop sign, then made a right hand turn, my car started sliding on the ice in the street, I turned the wheels hard left to avoid a car parked on the street, then I believe I tried turning right to stay on the street, unfortunately I hit a tree with the right side of front bumper hard enough to push the wheel back about 2-3 feet. The air bag did not go off and the seatbelt allowed my chest to hit the steering wheeling causing a chest wall contusion and exacerbation of my low back pain (I had a fusion of 2 discs with complications of cellulitis and osteomyelitis post-op), along with pain in my left hip replacement because my knee hit the dash. I also have had off and on numbness in my right little finger which I am not sure if it is from something in my shoulder or something in my neck since the surgery. I will have to let my doctor know this when I see him as a follow-up from the er. I also will be letting the doctor or n. P. I see at the pain clinic I go to of this fact. The er provider also said I had some degree of "whiplash". Both the air bag and seat belt failed to protect me from injury. I have sent a email to Ford but am waiting for a response.

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

The stripes over the top of the bodywork have corroded and this is the 2nd replacement of them. This is a known issue for the manufacturer, Ford and orcal. This is common to shelby gts from 2007 and affected cars in California. They have decided to not warranty it and are forcing owners to replace. This is a 5000 dollars, in some cases, issue. This is the 2nd time I have had them replaced and it is a known issue and has nothing to do with the care of the vehicle. Following their instructions, I had the same results. . Read more...

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

I just purchased this car in September and during the first hard rain my floor was completely soaked with a puddle on the passenger side floor. And when I would drive, you could hear the water pouring onto the floor. Now my passenger side window does not work properly. I will put it down and then try to put it up and it will keep going up and down on it's own. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer but have spoken to my mechanic about the problem and he is researching the problem.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated whenever it rains water would leak from underneath the dashboard on the passenger's side which resulted to an accumulation of water on the floor. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. Js.

16 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2011

Day after a rain a rain storm heard water dripping then I was going up a small hill and I heard water pouring. I looked over at the passenger side and saw water flowing in by the glove box. I pulled over and saw about 3 inches of water on the passenger side floor. Droped car off 5 min later as dealer ship is on my way to work found passneger side door seal leaking replaced at cost of 320$ because car was just out of warrenty but miles are only 35250 miles. Now my shaker 500 audio won't recognize aux audio. Going to bring back and complain. I found this to be a common problem after some research and that Ford knows about it. I think this problem is because of the change in the door design with the short drop window and no full frame around the window. What makes this worse for me is my brother has a 1988 Mustang x police car that has original seals aand weather striping and has never had a problem at over 100000 miles.

17 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

Paint on hood and right front fender are blistering and bubbling due to iron contamination corrossion . The Ford corporation has known of this problem since 2005 and never informed the consumer.

18 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2011

Went to drive my 3 and a half year old Mustang to work the other day after a big rainstorm. Noticed a musty mold smell but assumed it was nothing. As I drove my car up my driveway, (a slight incline) gallons of water spilled out from under the dashboard on the passenger side behind the glove box. Used a carpet extractor to vacuum up over 2 gallons of water (no kidding, emptied 1 gallon extractor tank 3 times) brought the car to the dealership where it was purchased and was informed that the car needed a repair that was outlined in a technical service bullitin from Ford, but because my car was no longer under warranty, I would be responsible for paying for the repair -and that the gem module needed to be replaced as the water had poured into and damaged it. The price for this, not including replacing the ruined carpet and pad or the rusted seat mounting brackets was over $1100. It says right in the TSB from Ford that this issue is caused by gaps in the sealant around drainage grommets inside the firewall, yet somehow this is the customers problem??? researching online I've encountered hundreds of horror stories from other owners with the same issue, but Ford has been denying this since at least 2005. (6 years!!) they need to be forced to recall these vehicles as it is painfully obvious that they refuse to do so voluntarily. . . The 3 year old vehicle is now a moldy health hazzard and I'm told that it's just a matter of time before the electrical problems begin. Thank you for providing me a forum to vent my frustrations over my "swamp buggy" as I have gotten no satisfaction anywhere else. Sincerely, -john w. Dell.

19 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2011

After being in hurricane irene my car now gets large amounts of water in the passenger side that comes in from under the passenger side dash. After a large rain fall 11/28/2011 I have approx. 3 to 4 inches of water standing on the passenger side of my car from the from to the back. I have called Ford and they have been no help.

20 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2010

Horn stopped working approximately 3 months before diagnosis. The dealership diagnosed a water intrusion that damaged the main wiring loom and Smart junction box. It was determined the water intrusion was a result of loose grommets and/or sealer skips around the cowl area, loose a-pillar window weather stripping retainer, misaligned body harness grommet through the firewall or misaligned body harness grommet from the passenger door as per TSB 08 26 7 and TSB 07-14-06. Total cost for the repair was $3,839. 44—just to fix a horn.

21 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2010

There is a water leak in the front of my Mustang, such that when it rains water comes through onto my feet. Due to the structure of the car allowing water to flow in areas that it should not, this caused water to ruin my windshield wiper motor. I had it replaced and my car looked at by two different mechanics who could not find the reason for the water flowing into my car and onto my windshield wiper motor. Today, as I was driving in the middle of a rainstorm, my windshield wipers stopped working again, and the motor was shorted out by the rain water. I see there is TSB out for this car and structural issues causing water to flow in the front, but twice now I have been driving in a rainstorm and unable to use my windshield wipers. This caused difficulty seeing while driving which I feel is a very serious safety concern. The water damage has caused me to pay for not only two windshield wiper motors but it is also causing mold/mildew in my car interior.

22 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

The paint on the hood of the car has rusted off at not even 40,000 miles of owning the car. Ford does not take responsibility for their faulty paint. Their warranty only covers bumper to bumper, including paint, up to 36,000 miles. I have owned cars where the paint remained intact well over 200,000 miles.

23 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the seat belt warning light failed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the instrument cluster was replaced. The failure recurred approximately three years later. The contact also stated that the turn signal indicator would blink very rapidly whenever a turn signal was engaged. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer and the cables which control the rear lights were replaced. In addition, the contact stated that the battery would drain very rapidly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and a large battery was installed as a replacement, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that water was leaking in through the firewall. As a result, this was the source of all of the electrical problems. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 1,800.

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

Since new delivery, my car leaks rainwater onto the threshold to the inside of the door seal. To remove the water after it stops raining it is necessary to open the door and let it run out when doing this the water is not coming out of the designed drain holes in the door. When the temperature drops I get ice building up on the door gasket and threshold potentially locking me out or perhaps bending sheet metal. I experienced it once but was able to get in. My wife is 5 ft tall; there is no way she could open the door in similar conditions and she would be stranded. After 7 trips to the service dept with little or no improvement, Ford maintains that water build up like this is normal and according to design. I think water and/or ice damage will eventually reduce the structural integrity of the car. I had difficulty getting in the car once due to ice, so prudently have stopped taking it in rain or snow. The car is always damp feeling and musty smelling ( I have allergies) because I think the inner door panels have been soaked repeatedly. I have digital photos available. While appealing to the dealer board, the ri registry official claimed there was no record of complaints such as these at NHTSA, I seek to remedy that oversight. If you contact me I have complete details available.

25 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2007

Every time it rains water leaks from behind my glove box and soaks the mats. Water also collects in the passenger door. There is a mold smell and my hazard lights flash on there on causing the battery to die. S.
