The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from an unknown location with the vehicle turned off. The contact became aware that the battery was completely drained. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that electrical components were draining the battery while the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The vehicle has experienced repeated and ongoing electrical system failures, including chronic battery drain that causes the vehicle to fail to start, erratic hvac operation where controls do not function as intended, and persistent water intrusion into the doors and interior areas. The hvac malfunction has resulted in the inability to properly defrost or defog the windshield while driving, significantly impairing visibility and creating an immediate safety hazard. These issues appear consistent with failure or corrosion of the Smart junction box (sjb) or related electrical control components. Replacement Smart junction boxes are unavailable through both Ford and aftermarket sources, preventing proper repair of the defect. The electrical instability and water intrusion present a risk of sudden loss of vehicle operability, impaired visibility, and unpredictable electrical behavior while the vehicle is in motion, creating a safety risk to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. The issues are recurring and reproducible.
A complete failure of the electrical system due to a design flaw where a main electrical wire harness inside the firewall on the drivers side fills up with water over time and soaks the wire harness causing a complete failure of the car to operate. This leading to a breakdown in traffic and dangerous necessity to get out into traffic to escape electrical smoke.
As I was driving approximately 65mph/hour I hear a slight popping noise come from the from passenger tire and then followed the tires pressure dash light illuminated. I pulled off the road at my first opportunity. My ture had gone completely flat with out hitting any bumps or pot holes. I put the spare on and returned home. My boyfriend inspected the tire using soapy water and realized the air was escaping from the rim wall (str p245/40 r20) and not the tire itself. Upon further inspection we realized many stress factures on the rim on all four tires not just the one that lost all the air originally. I replaced my tires pirelli all season plus and scorpion verde tires with my stock tires. I researched the tires for a recall and noticed a recall on other tires that were the same make and model just different sizes had the same issue, a failed rim wall causing it to break off causing accidents, that my aftermarket tires were having. My tires are experiencing the same issue as the recalled pirellis so therefore I have not been using my tires for fear the other 3 tires will also worsen and cause an accident. Str p245/75 r 20 and str p245/40/ r20 all season plus and scorpion verde models also the seat belt light never turns off even when the seat belts are properly engaged which causes a beeping while driving.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. While turning on the headlights, the engine stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be driven with the headlights activated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Car was parked in my driveway and after a rain storm I noticed the passenger floor was soaked with water. Water leaks in from the cabin air filter and drips onto the fuse junction box on the passenger side of the car. When drain holes in cowl gets clogged water builds up and then pours in the cabin filter then into passenger side flooding carpet. As water drips down it makes contact with the f j b and starts to mess with the electrical parts, ie power windows go up and down by themselves, dash light won't shut off, radio will not turn off and convertible roof keeps trying to go up and down. Only fix is to replace and reprogram the fjb but Ford no longer makes this part because of the known issues. I am told either to wait for replacement unit to be developed or buy a used one and hope it will work either way still have to pay $400. 00 for part and $250. 00 for reprogramming. This is a known problem that is being passed onto the consumer . This has happened to not 1 but both of my Mustangs 2005 and 2007 , same style with same problems.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that water leaked into the vehicle from the front windshield cowl and made contact with the electrical wires. The failure caused the gauges to malfunction, including the tire pressure monitoring sensor and the fuel gauge display. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,880.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that every time the vehicle wa started, the actuator made a clicking noise and there was no air flow therefore the defrost or heater failed to work, making the vehicle impossible to drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that all three actuators needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. This has been a reoccurring problem that I have been experiencing for quite awhile. I was researching a lunge problem, discovered it is frequently happening to others. It happens when I am going a a very slow speed. It has happened in traffic many times which is scary, in my housing developments, we have speed bumps so you must drive slowly and making turns. It just immediately all shuts down and the car stops. I actually try to avoid traffic on freeway because it has happened so many times. I have discussed, in the past, this with my mechanic various times and made sure everything in my car is fine. I have replaced everything and my car is well maintained. Extremely dangerous.
I had a 2005 Mustang and could never figure out why it leaked everytime it rained , thinking it was just a problem with that car, I eventually went out and bought a 2007 Mustang, and the first heavy rain after I purchased the car, the same thing. . Water pouring out from under the glove box on to the floor board and now parts of the radio are not working. I have always since a little girl be in love with Ford Mustangs and considering the continuing problem with the leaks its almost not worth it to purchase a Mustang. Ford knows about the problem and will do nothing about. I was told it was more common on the 05-09 models but from what I gather its a problem with most even the newer models. Im at a lost as of what to do. . Im seriously thinking about getting rid of the car. And knowing that so many other people have this problem makes me sick. . Dear Ford its your mistake, so fix it.
While sitting, with all doors closed, the door ajar light came on along with a chime and stayed on,drivers window wouldnt roll down and windsheild wipers started moving by themselves, then the door ajar light went off for a split second, then came back on multiple times along with the chimes and wouldnt go off,at the same time, the windsheild wipers now wont work, shut the car off for 10 minutes, now everything operated fine for a short time, then it started all over again.
I was driving my husband's 2007 Ford Mustang when after sitting at a red light, I accelerated and all of a sudden the car lost all power. The steering wheel locked up, there was no lights on in the car and the car just died. Luckily I was able to coast to the left and use all of my strength to turn the wheel into a drive and stop the car. I put the car in park and called my husband right away. At the time, he said it had never happened to him. I let the car sit and he came in my car to get me. I refused to drive it after that. He was able to start the car and drive it home. He has been driving it since and he himself has had this experience where the car just dies in the middle of driving. We thought the battery was the cause because of the electrical so we replaced it but with the new gm recalls and because I know that most manufacturers buy parts from the same suppliers, this has me worried and I am thinking this could be a bigger issue that what we know. To this day, we drive my car wherever we go. I do not like using his car at all. We were nervous about taking the car to the dealership from past experiences as the dealerships only like to fix things that they can duplicate and we know this was not going to be duplicated. In 6 years it has happened twice.
2007 Ford Mustang. Attorney representing consumer writes in regards to vehicle fire and seeks assistance from vehicle manufacturing company. On December 25, 2011, the vehicle was parked with the engine off, when suddenly it exploded in the owner's driveway. The incident was reported to Ford. However, they denied any liability.
Day after a rain a rain storm heard water dripping then I was going up a small hill and I heard water pouring. I looked over at the passenger side and saw water flowing in by the glove box. I pulled over and saw about 3 inches of water on the passenger side floor. Droped car off 5 min later as dealer ship is on my way to work found passneger side door seal leaking replaced at cost of 320$ because car was just out of warrenty but miles are only 35250 miles. Now my shaker 500 audio won't recognize aux audio. Going to bring back and complain. I found this to be a common problem after some research and that Ford knows about it. I think this problem is because of the change in the door design with the short drop window and no full frame around the window. What makes this worse for me is my brother has a 1988 Mustang x police car that has original seals aand weather striping and has never had a problem at over 100000 miles.
Went to drive my 3 and a half year old Mustang to work the other day after a big rainstorm. Noticed a musty mold smell but assumed it was nothing. As I drove my car up my driveway, (a slight incline) gallons of water spilled out from under the dashboard on the passenger side behind the glove box. Used a carpet extractor to vacuum up over 2 gallons of water (no kidding, emptied 1 gallon extractor tank 3 times) brought the car to the dealership where it was purchased and was informed that the car needed a repair that was outlined in a technical service bullitin from Ford, but because my car was no longer under warranty, I would be responsible for paying for the repair -and that the gem module needed to be replaced as the water had poured into and damaged it. The price for this, not including replacing the ruined carpet and pad or the rusted seat mounting brackets was over $1100. It says right in the TSB from Ford that this issue is caused by gaps in the sealant around drainage grommets inside the firewall, yet somehow this is the customers problem??? researching online I've encountered hundreds of horror stories from other owners with the same issue, but Ford has been denying this since at least 2005. (6 years!!) they need to be forced to recall these vehicles as it is painfully obvious that they refuse to do so voluntarily. . . The 3 year old vehicle is now a moldy health hazzard and I'm told that it's just a matter of time before the electrical problems begin. Thank you for providing me a forum to vent my frustrations over my "swamp buggy" as I have gotten no satisfaction anywhere else. Sincerely, -john w. Dell.
Stopped at gas station and filled tank with gas. After fill up turned onto highway and started driving. About 1/2 mile down the road while driving at 45 mph the car completely shut-off.
Power windows keeps blowing fuse, 6 times now and they can't figure it out, said I am using them too much.
Car failure while driving car shut completely off while driving at night at 45mph. Car is a Ford 2007 Mustang v6 model year 36,000 bought brand new from local Ford dealership. Car at approximately 10:00 pm while driving through a dark desolate country road completely shut down on me lights went off, lost control of steering and would not restart had to push the car over to the side of the road no electrical function what so ever.
2007 manufacturing defect: extensive leaking of water into electrical components. Causing lights to go off,or sometimes go on without switching on, windows go up and down by themselves, occasionally motor cuts out on highway, cruise control operates intermittently. Eventually this will also result in premature structural damage.
Own a 2007 Ford Mustang. Car has won't start once in a while. It hasn't started about 15-20 times in a two month period. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting, car finally starts. It only seems to happen when its a really hot day. Called two dealerships and both said don't bother bringing car in unless it comes in on the back of a tow truck. They said otherwise, they probably can't figure out what's wrong. Need help!.
Rain leaks into the car and cause s all manner of problems in the fuse box. Lights atay on or do notwork, car cuts out on the freeway. Cruise control works intermittently. Windows may go up and down and then stay half down for some time.
