I own a 2007 Mustang gt. It has less than 15 thousand miles on it. It has failed inspection (12/22/11) due to the driver side lower ball joint being worn out. The car is pulling and has a thumping noise. I contacted Ford and they e-mailed me the following information: in the future, when the national highway traffic and safety administration (NHTSA) release a recall/customer satisfaction program on this particular component, you will be eligible for a refund if you already had the repairs completed and if not, you will be able to have the repair free of charge. Keep in mind that the NHTSA is the federal agency who is responsible to review this kind of programs.
On my 2007 Mustang gt. The lower ball joint on left side would not pass PA state inspection @ 16,700 miles and right side went bad and would not pass inspection at @ 29,800 miles. The inspections were done at a Ford dealer. Each time the cost is over $500. 00. Ford did split the cost after I complained about the first issue. I have checked a few Mustang sites and have found out others have had the same issues with cars 2005-06-07 and 08 Mustangs.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact took the vehicle in for inspection where she was informed that a cross member and lower ball joint would need to be replaced. The contact was informed that the problem was widespread. The vehicle was repaired and the contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The current mileage was 31,550 and the failure mileage was 31,547.
Car is a 2007 Ford Mustang gt convertible with 19,500 miles. I have noticed that recently the car no longer tracks properly, and tends to pull to the left or right with unevenness in the pavement. When brought in to dealer for regular service, was informed that both front lower ball joints are loose. I have researched around the web and have found that this appears to be a fairly common problem with these cars. Car is just out of warranty despite its low mileage.
