1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

I was driving around our local lake doing 25 mph. I had just come around a curve and was headed for another curve pretty quickly. All of the sudden the car started speeding up on its own. I took my foot off the gas pedal and I hit the brakes to try to slow down and nothing happened. The car continued to speed up on its own. My speed got up to about 40 mph when I came up on a curve. I slammed on the brakes again and tried to turn the wheel but I had no control over the car at this point. It continued to accelerate and I missed the corner and landed in a pond on the other side of the lake in about 3 1/2 feet of water. My car was then submerged up the top of the trunk in water.

2 Service Brakes problem

I recently went for a inspection sticker and was informed that my parking brake wasn't holding. I have changed the parking brake cables but the car still has the same issue . It will hold and the car keeps moving at all times and intervals. I had never used the emergency brake so I don't know how long its been happening until now.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2014

I was at the exit of a parking lot and waiting to turn out onto the street. When I began to turn, my car started to accelerate way faster than it should have. I hit the brakes but my car wasn't slowing down and kept accelerating. I hit the "off" on my cruise control thinking maybe it became active but nothing happened, as I began to come close to the car ahead of me I turned left onto the next street still hitting my brakes (at this point I had gone a block and a half with my brake pedal pressed in). As I turned, I had trouble controlling the vehicle I ended up hitting the curb with my front passenger side. After the impact the acceleration had stopped, I could hear something had broken, and felt it as I was slowing down because my car wasn't traveling straight and I couldn't turn easily. There were kids in the street that I didn't see before I had turned, I swerved again to avoid them (luckily just missing them because as stated before, I couldn't turn it very easily) and made it about half way down the block before my car came to a full stop (the entire time still hitting my brakes). I did not see the actual speed I was going, the car was accelerating rapidly and totally out of control. The car defect has cost me approximately $4000. 00 in car repair fees and also depreciation. It was such a hard impact that I expected my air bags to blow, but they didn't. I hope they are not defective as well.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2013

The emergency brake cord broke.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2011

I have reported this problem before but since then two other people who have driven my car have experienced it. I now warn anyone who has to drive my car that it drives by itself. I have received dirty looks from people, been yelled out, due to this problem. It accelerates on its own. I will be behind someone at a light, foot on brake and it will start revving. They think I am messing with them. I will be in neutral and it will drive faster. I will be in reverse slowly and it floors. I had to be taken to emergency by a neighbor. I warned her and when we were returning home, she pulled in my driveway and it just started to speed up fast. She nailed down the brake. It scared her to death. She thanked me for warning her because otherwise we would have crashed and been hurt. She won't ever drive my car again. I had my car in valet in las vegas at green valley ranch and the guy working was pulling the car around to me and it was revving really high and wanting to speed. He was apologizing profusely. He kept saying he was not showing off or playing around. He kept saying he was driving slow, please don't think he was acting crazy and he parks ferraris! I told him it was okay and that my car drives itself and that I knew he wasn't responsible. He said he will never park another one of these again. He needed his job. How many people have to have this problem before Ford will acknowledge there is one. Is this like the whole Toyota thing? if there is a large lawsuit can I be contacted? does someone have to die first before they do anything? I know there are many more complaints on this issue than on this site. I have seen them but people seem to think this is useless. Is that correct? I would love to know.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2010

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact was driving approximately 3 mph in a drive thru lane. The brake pedal traveled to the floor without resistance when pressure was applied. The driver pumped the brakes numerous times. The gear selector was placed into "neutral"; then shifted into the "park" position. Immediately, the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle resumed with the loss of brake power. The emergency brake was engaged while pumping the brake pedal, followed by a power response. The vehicle was able to continue in normal operation to the residence. The vehicle has not been driven due to the potential safety hazard. The authorized dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle has not bee repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 15,300. The VIN was unavailable js.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2010

The e brake freezes everytime it gets below freezing. This is the most annoying thing and I will never buy a Mustang again. Why is there not a recall for this, there have been multiple complaints.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2009

I have a 2007 Ford Mustang. At 25,000 miles the rear passenger side tire the brakes are scratching up the rotor. I have read many cases with the same problem with other Ford vehicles. This is definitely a defect.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

I drive a 2007 Mustang, manual transmission. In 2008, the emergency brake seemed to not be releasing all the way. I could tell this because a) my vehicle would slow down more quickly than before, b) on a slight grade, my vehicle would remain in place. This issue occured after normal use of e-brake not but 10 months after the brand new purchase from darcars in lanham, MD. I took the vehicle in to lindsey Ford in wheaton, MD (around the same time the air bag module recall was issued. . . ) and the representative told me that they "could not verify my concerns at this time". Having replaced the air bag module free of charge, I was idiotically appeased with just that and didn't press the e-brake issue futher. Coincidentally, as I was leaving their lot, I went over a speed bump which seemed to release the brake enough to not cause any noticable brake tension while driving. Needless to say, from that point on I was reluctant to use the emergency parking brake and alway kept my vehicle in gear when parked. Just recently, I had another issue with the clutch pedal-- gradually sinking to the floor (which I was told was an issue with the clutch slave), and again I went to lindsey to see if they could help. This time around, they notice that the e-brake is very much stuck, and suggested I replace the brake cable. $500. 00 I do not have. They wont even bother to look at the clutch slave until the brake cables have been replaced.
