The contact owns a 2011 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power and failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The car will "shut down" (wrench error light) at any time, anywhere, any speed. Very dangerous!!! error code p2111 throttle body actuator stuck open. I have seen numerous posts on this. Ford really needs to fix this!!! I will no longer let my child drive this car. So unsafe!! it happened to me several times a day probably three times in the last week. The vehicle is in motion, highway, city, straight, turns, fast, slow.
While driving at 40 mph the car lost power and was only able to move at about 2-3 mph. A wrench warning light came on. Driving the car at this speed was unsafe and in hind sight I should have parked it and towed to a dealer.
While driving with cruise control set at 55 mph, car began to decelerate, yellow "wrench" advisory light illuminated and engine appeared to be running rough. Car slowed to a stop and I pulled the car off the roadway. I switched off the ignition and waited approximately 30 seconds. I restarted the car. The advisory light stayed off and the engine ran normally thereafter. When the incident occurred, the car was on a highway curving turn to the right. The incident occurred coming out of the curve.
I was driving on the freeway going 60mph when all of a sudden my cars power just cut off and it went into limp mode and had the worst idle at 1100 rpm until I turned off the vehicle. I then turned it back on and the limp mode light went away but a few more miles up it cut power again and almost caused a wreck as I had to quickly think and get to the side of the freeway. It happened 2 more times that day til I got it home and got the engine code p2111. I found out later its a faulty throttle body that they used in fusions and other models and everyone is having this same issue of it randomly cutting off. It's a faulty throttle body that should be recalled!.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to part unavailability. The contact was unaware if the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving my 2011 v6 Mustang the car will completely loose power. This has happened on the highway and on side streets. There is no warning. The wrench light comes on and the car is forced to idle. No response at all to throttle input. Error code read is p2111 which indicates "throttle actuator "a" control system - stuck open". It is my understanding that the throttle body in this vehicle is the same as used in other Ford vehicles. A recall has been issued for those other vehicles but everyone suffering from this on the v6 Mustang is on their own. This can be very dangerous for people accelerating to merge and very dangerous on the highway to stop in the middle of the road or have to limp to the shoulder through traffic at idle. I have already paid $300 for a full throttle body service and the same thing is still happening.
Ford throttle body issue codes p2111. Repeated instances of the vehicles in motion while drive in busy road.
2011 Ford Mustang, while driving home from work at 45-50 mph car shuttered. Then no power, no throttle response with engine holding steady 1100 rpm. Wrench light on dash lit up, rpm at 1100rpm press throttle- no response at all. Steering, brakes all functioning. Turned key off and restarted, car ran fine and has not happened again yet. Car has less than 46000 miles. .
Wrench light comes on looses power goes into limp mode very dangerous cant move off the road my book says its the throddle control took it to the dealer said they cant find any problem no code .
With no warning the electronic throttle body will fail causing the car to rapidly decelerate to its idle speed. In my case it happened on a city street in heavy traffic while the car was in motion. The motorist behind me almost rear-ended my car, and several other had to come to a screeching halt. The problem is dangerous, since it can occur at any time in traffic. It continued to happen after turning the engine off and back on. Since the issue is known in other Ford vehicles of the same model year range, the company should be communicating the issue to customers and proactively replacing the faulty part.
Throttle body failed and had to be replaced three times. Put me in danger for my life as the car stopped running on busy highway. Vehicle was in motion full speed 55 mph and throttled down to complete stop. Engine raced but would not move. I want reimbursement for my expenses. Throttle body was replaced three times for failing within a week. Warrenty extensions have been issued for throttle body fails for similar models. We have been informed that Ford has issued an extended warranty for defective throttle body assemblies and sensors for 10 years or 150,000 miles from the data of original purchase. For vehicles past this time limit, the warranty is reported to be valud until January 31, 2015. Affected owners should contact Ford and mention consumer satisfaction program 13n03.
Car would not run > 20 mph.
While driving on the highway at 70 mph, I experienced sudden deceleration and had to pull over to the side of the road. The gas pedal was not responsive and the wrench light came on. This happened more than 6 times over a two week period. Two of the instances occurred while pulling out of a business onto a main road -- I had to coast into the turn lane to restart. I took the car to two mechanics who couldn't duplicate the intermittent issue (because the wrench light rests) and then finally made it over to the Ford dealer today. They said that the throttle body needed to be replaced. . Read more...
Driving down an interstate a wrench came on the dashboard and car went into limp mode. Pulled off turned the car off and restarted it. Got to the destination ok but on the way back home the wrench came on again. Looked at the code and saw it was the p2111 code. It happened 4 times in the way, losing power and shaking. Taking it to Ford tomorrow to find out if it covered under the warranty. There was no recall in the car, however, I am noticing a lot of people are having this issue. This is a safety issue and should have a recall on it. From what everyone else is saying Ford is not doing anything to help or fix the problem.
Driving up hill going about 20. Orange wrench icon comes on and I lose all acceleration. Had to pull over going up a hill losing acceleration fast when cars are parked on the side of the road. Barely made it to a turn and parked my car. Had to turn the car off and wait a minute and turn it back on. Turned around and went home. Called Ford dealership and asked what could be the issue. The mechanic said it could be one of two things. Took the car in to get a dtc code and they couldn't find it. The mechanic said it was safe to drive. 4 days later the same thing happened going 60. Had to pull over and restart the ignition. Almost got rear ended. Took it to the dealer again. No code. They tell me it is safe to drive still. Three days later it happens again on the same road going 60. Certain part of this road have no place to pull over. Have to drift my car for a bit to get to a safe area. Almost get rear ended. Call dealership. They tell me the earliest they can see me is one week away. This morning on the way to work it craps out on me 5 times in 20 minutes. Luckily it was 5 am and there were few people on the road. I do the same thing and restart the car. I used my tuner this time and got a code of p2111 - throttle body actuator code. I know this has been an issue with other Fords as well and checking the message boards for the Mustangs and I have seen quite a few of these incidents, but I did not see where the NHTSA was looking at the Mustangs. Maybe this should be looked into before a lawsuit happens because of this? this car is not safe to drive no matter what they tell me. I will call the dealership this morning and give them the code so they can finally fix my car.
Driving at normal speeds (45 mph), suddenly engine light and wrench light both illuminated and simultaneously lost all power to the car. I was almost crushed by a semi truck as I was in the process of turning. I was told by Ford dealer to just restart engine and all would be okay. This temporarily fixed the problem but the next day the same issue happened again, this time I caused a large back up of cars behind me causing a very hazardous condition. Now when I talk to Ford representative they tell me that it is not under warranty and that I am on my own to fix. After much research, my case is not alone. There is many people with the same situation. Ford fails to recognized that this is a problem.
I was driving on the interstate and my vehicle stopped accelerating. It was as though it had switched to neutral. I had to quickly turn on my emergency lights and pull over on the side of the road. I turned off the engine, then turned it back on and pulled on to the interstate. The same thing happened again. I finally made it to my destination after this happened six times.
I bought my car used at the beginning of this year, 2014. Shortly after my car started breaking down. I took it to a shop to have a diagnostic test ran, no codes came up. A friend of mine than let me borrow his mobile diagnostic machine. The next time I broke down I was able to get a code, that code was p2111 (tac system stuck open). According to my local Ford shop this is going to cost me over $600. Again, I just bought the car. I did some research online, however, and it seems like this is a well known problem with many other Ford vehicles. 'consumer satisfaction program 13n03' half of the above statement was a copy&paste from my previous complaint. I have yet to hear anything back. Since than, I've broken down several more times. One of which I was almost completely ran over by an 18 wheeler semi. This is unacceptable and could very well cost me my life! I would very much appreciate some form of acknowledgement to my complaint and hopeful approval to correct this defect immediately. Please do not hesitate to call me. Thank you.

I did some research online, however, and it seems like this is a well known problem with many other Ford vehicles. That's when I went to to my local Ford and mentioned 'consumer satisfaction program 13n03' they informed me of the "many" Ford vehicles that are covered to be fixed under that recall or whatnot. However, Ford Mustangs were not on that list. I feel this is undoubtedly a Ford issue, one of which that should be corrected out of your pocket and not mine. It's very sad to have the excitement of getting a new car and not even being able to drive it out of town because you are scared for your life! I have now broken down countless times, mostly back to back (on the freeway). It makes my personal world as well as my professional life a living hell since I'm having to rent cars out of my own pocket every time my boss needs me to drive out of town for him. An absolute joke if you ask me. Anyhow, its been months now that I've meant to create this complaint. I have never needed to do this before so if there's another step I may be missing or if any questions need to be answered, please do not hesitate to give me a call. Thank you! I will be anxiously waiting by the phone :).
Bumped key and engine turned off.
Was accelerating to merge with traffic on freeway when my car would not shift and the clutch pedal depressed to the floor. I was in the middle of merging and lost the ability to shift or control why vehicle. It created a very unsafe situation and Ford issued a recall for this very same issues for earlier Mustang.
Was driving on interstate, without warning went into limp mode, which I had to pull to side of road, turned off motor to reset, but every time I take off it goes in limp mode, I took it to dealership to have them take a look at they said that it's not under warranty any more and that the repair would be almost 1100 dollars.
While driving at different speeds, the car will just loses control of the gas pedal. It goes into a coast mode. You have to coast to safety and turn off the ignition and restart. My daughter was almost hit by an 18-wheeler on the bypass going about 50 mph. Sometimes, it will do this one time per day, sometimes every few minutes. I have only had this car 2 months when this problem began. I have contacted a dealership about the problem, and it will cost at a minimum $600. 00. I have read the complaints filed, and feel that this should be placed under a recall for these vehicles. My vehicle has 56,000 miles on it, and should not be having these issues. If you were on an interstate or major highway, there might not be a way to exit before causing a major wreck.
While driving under normal conditions the engine service light came on. I checked the comnputer codes and received a p2111 code which indicates a stuck open throttle actuator control sytem.
While driving home from store motor suddenly went into limp-home mode. Lost power to engine and most steering. Barely able to get car off of the road.
I was driving on the freeway approximately 65 mph when my throttle light went on (wrench) , my car lost power and began to idle. Extremely frightening, I had cars coming at high speeds almost getting rear ended. My car accelarator gave out completely going into "safe mode". I found myself having to go through construction cones in order to pull over somewhere semi safe. I turned my car off and turned it on again. This time the engine light went off as well as the throttle light. Again my car was undriveable. As I got home the car was scanned. Received two engine codes p2111 & p2112. All having to do with the throttle body .
Was traveling on a freeway when a the care lost power and began slowing down. A little wrench icon appeared. I there was no place to pull over so I turned on flashers and rode on the highway until the care stopped. Traffic behind me swerved to avoid my car. I restarted the vehicle and continued on my way. The vehicle failed 3 more times on the way home.
2011 Mustang gt with 6477 miles, with 6 speed manual transmission. Taking off from a stop sign and attempting to shift from from 1st gear to 2nd gear, resulted in only being able to shift from 1st gear to neutral. Once the shifter moved into the neutral position, the vehicle is no longer able to shift into any gear. Had to coast the vehicle to a safe stopping point with no engine power and towed to the nearest dealer for repair. This is the 2nd incident with the transmission on this vehicle in less than 1 year, with the prior incident being a faulty slave clutch cylinder. (this vehicle is not equipped with the 'skip shift' feature that is meant to increase gas mileage by locking out certain gears. ).
Bought this 2011 Ford Mustang on April 8 2011. Everything was fine for about this first month. Car did not want to start when clutch was pressed down had 800 miles at the time, classic Ford 1st dealer said needed a clutch adjustment? its hydraulic there is no adjustment on them! they had the car for about 6 hours to tell me that. Clutch still felt funny ,started hearing grinding, shifter would get stuck in r,1,2,3,4 gears then it went out stuck in 2nd gear! 2nd dealer jim hudson Ford took it to had it for 3 weeks before I got it back car had 6,000 miles on it needed a brand new clutch system from what Ford said. It was not a recall on the car they said it was a bad design! still is not right for Ford to push it under the rug like its not a big deal. These cars cost too much for us to be having problems with them and most our children that ride with us. I would like to know more info about this please thanks.
Just a few of the issues I had while my car . I was told there was no problem with my car after I almost got killed twice because it would not down shift into lower gears at highway speeds. Trans will look up once shifter is in between gears and will not go into gears still speed and rpm slow down. Most evident when trying to go from 6th to 4th. I was almost in an accident twice because I was not able to down shift to get out of the way of a oncoming traffic. Had a cracked rim that was obviously a casting defect. Had a ticking in the engine after long trips. . 5. 0 sounded like a diesel.
