1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

While driving my 2011 Ford Mustang (with a v6 engine and automatic transmission) at 40mph on a local street, I experienced the vehicle unexpectedly losing power and a fault light in the form of a wrench appearing on the dashboard. The engine speed dropped down to idle and did not respond to any gas pedal operation. The cars engine remained running, however, the engine ran roughly as evidence of it shaking the entire car. The incident placed myself and other drivers around me in danger, as I had to move quickly to get my vehicle out of the moving traffic and into a safe place off the side of the road.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2017

Vehicle stuck accelerater at slow and higher speeds!! it happened once while I was driving it and once while my daughter was driving. This could easily cause severe accident. Throttle body was replaced by dealer. This accelerator problem happened after the throttle body was replaced. By the dealer. I brought it back to the dealer after this incident and they called me and said "they can find nothing wrong". I told them to keep the car until the find the problem as this out of control acceleration is very dangerous.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2016

While driving on the highway the motor shuts off. I have to quick pull off the road, restart the car. It will drive but again get up to highway speed, car shuts off. After about the 5th time, finally a code comes on, p2111 (throttle actuator control system - stuck open. Very dangerous driving on the highway.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

While driving, without warning, the vehicle's wrench warning light comes on and the vehicle goes into idle mode. The car will not accelerate and you have to pull over, turn the engine off, and then restart the car.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

While driving my 2011 v6 Mustang the car will completely loose power. This has happened on the highway and on side streets. There is no warning. The wrench light comes on and the car is forced to idle. No response at all to throttle input. Error code read is p2111 which indicates "throttle actuator "a" control system - stuck open". It is my understanding that the throttle body in this vehicle is the same as used in other Ford vehicles. A recall has been issued for those other vehicles but everyone suffering from this on the v6 Mustang is on their own. This can be very dangerous for people accelerating to merge and very dangerous on the highway to stop in the middle of the road or have to limp to the shoulder through traffic at idle. I have already paid $300 for a full throttle body service and the same thing is still happening.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

While driving down the left lane of the sawgrass expressway, a very busy highway between ft. Lauderdale and miami, I lost all throttle response. The wrench light came on the dashboard and I went from 60 mph down to nothing by the time I was off to the side of the road. Cars behind me were obviously braking hard to avoid smashing into me. I turned the car off and was about to call aaa, but the heat index that day was around a million degrees so I turned the car back on. The throttle response had returned so I cautiously limped the car back home in the right hand lane the whole way. I thought it was some freak computer glitch until it happened again going to the store the next day. I called the Ford dealership and before I even got the problem oout of my mouth the service tech said " it is your throttle body. We see this all the time. It will be about $800 to repair". If the techs are aware of this problem and it is all over the internet with people complaining about dangerous situations the have been placed in as a result, and there is already a recall for the same problem in other Ford models, then why hasn't the NHTSA done anything to force Ford to recall for the same problem on the Mustang? does someone have to die first? has somebody died because of this?.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2015

Car would not run > 20 mph.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2015

6/22/2015: I was driving home from work and my car suddenly turned off and the check engine light turned on. It is very subtle when it happened; no jerky movement noticed. I realized what have happened after my failed attempts to accelerate. I was able to use the car's momentum to make it to a parking lot. I step out and examined my car but nothing was out of the ordinary. After 10 minutes, I attempted to start it up (first attempt after incident) and it started up normally. Everything functioned as normal and even the check engine light is gone. I thought it was a fluke incident so I drove home and forgot about it. 6/30/2015: I was driving on the highway and my engine cut off again. I was very scared because I was on the California 91 freeway and it was during traffic hours. I was able to draw experience from the last incident and cruised my car to the side of the highway. After I examined the car and once again wasn't able to find anything out of the ordinary. I started it back up on the first attempt and the car seemed to be operating normally. I was able to make it home safely but it was a very scary drive home. I will have to bring my car to a dealer and get it check soon and hopefully they will have a fix for this.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2015

While driving 65 mph on the interstate my vehicle went into "limp mode" causing the vehicle to drastically slow down and requiring evasive action to get to the shoulder during heavy traffic. This has never happened before and I went to the dealership and was advised that the fault code was "p21111 thottle actuator control system stuck open".

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

Vehicle experienced sudden and unexpected loss of engine throttle sometimes in high-speed situations, activation of limp home mode, check engine light, and engine malfunction indicator. Diagnostic code reported failure of electronic throttle body, code dtc p2111. Dealer confirmed electronic throttle body assembly fault basic part 9f991 and replaced, extremely similar to NHTSA investigation pe13-003.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

While driving my 2011 Ford Mustang down the road the check engine light and the wrench light came on and lost all power, the engine never died but would only idle very rough. I took it to have the code read out, it showed a code p2111 throttle body actuator wide open. It has done the same thing 2 times today. Once you pull over and cut the engine off then restart it will run fine, but not for long before doing the same thing again. I got online to see what the code p2111 means, to my surprise this seems to be a big problem on Mustangs, escapes, and fusions. Ford has issued an extended warranty on certain throttle bodies. This could potentially be a serious safety problem loosing power while driving down the high way.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2014

Four incidents of "limp home" operation in three consecutive outings with an obd-ii diagnostic on the final drive indicating p2111--a fault with the electronic throttle control. 18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2014

My wife ,who is three months pregnant, was driving down the road when the wrench light came on and vehicle lost power and went into what I am hearing is "limp mode". The car losses power , never shuts off, it reduces the rpms to about 600 and speed to about 10 to 12 mph. When this happened to her she just barely got off the road before an 18 wheeler hit her from behind. When I arrived on scene I cut the vehicle off for about 10 sec. Then started it back up and it ran fine. This happened twice more before the check engine light came on. When I scanned the car trouble code p2111 displayed saying failed throttle body. I reset the computer went to the dealership and was told it would be about $170. 00 andthere was about a 50% chance they would not be able to determine the problem so I kept my money and left. Doing some research on the internet I have found many different forums where people with Mustangs are having the same issue with their etb ( electronic throttle body) on their vehicle but Ford says there is no issue. While doing my research I found where Ford issued a customer satisfaction program no. 13n03 on fusions, escapes, and milians for a defective ebt but the Mustang is not covered or acknowledged even though the problem desribed is the same exact issue that im having. This has happened to us about 10 different times since the first instance. It's a known issue as far as I am concerned and a major safety issue. Please help.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

When driving down the street all of a sudden it won't accelerate although the engine is still running. I had it towed to a Ford dealership the first time it happened. They told me nothing was wrong. It has been doing it spariodically since then but got so bad the other day I had to have it towed in again. This time they replaced the throttle body. If they had caught it the first time while it was under warranty I wouldn't have had to pay $556. 72 today. Luckily the safety problem never happened to me while I was driving on the expressway!.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

Was accelerating to merge with traffic on freeway when my car would not shift and the clutch pedal depressed to the floor. 22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

Received error code p2111, the car will bog down without notice and I cannot accelerate. This happens often and it does not matter if I am going slow or fast. The research I have done shows this to be a faulty throttle body. I found a website which shows "affected owners should contact Ford and mention consumer satisfaction program 13n03. " I plan on calling joe myers Ford in houston, TX tomorrow 3/5/14.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2014

I was pulling out from a business on to a major highway. There were no warnings, suddenly the car just would not go forward. I was in the middle, crosswise of the road. I finally got the car to go forward in little increments until I got off the road. The motor was still running but very little forward movement from the car. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was the throttle body that had gone bad. If there had been any traffic, I would be dead, because the car would not move forward.
