I was shifting out of a parking space from reverse to drive. The wrench icon came on on the dashboard and the car shuttered. I immediately turned it off, left it off for about 10 seconds and starting it again. I pulled into a parking space, called my husband and he came to follow me home in case it happened while driving on the street. It did not. About 4 days later I pulled out of my garage and the wrench icon came on again and the car shuttered. I turned it off and pulled the car into the garage again. A few days later I was able to get it in with my mechanic. They could not find anything wrong with it on the diagnostics and could not replicate the fault. I found a lot on line about the throttle body problems with Ford vehicles. My brother had the exact same thing happen to his car (same problem) and he had it towed to the dealer and the throttle body was replaced free of charge. They told him this happens a lot. So, I will bring my car home today with nothing found. How do I trust it to drive it? thanks for your time.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway (I-4) on my way to work on 10/24/2019, I was going about 65 mph and suddenly the vehicle decreased speed to about 35 -40 mph, on the instrument panel the wrench light or symbol came on, I was almost rear ended and hit by 2 vehicles traveling at normal speed. As I pressed on the gas pedal the car would not pick up speed, I believe this is called "limp mode'. I was luckily able to avoid the accident by pulling off to the side of the highway. I shut the vehicle off, since I was not sure if it could also be a fire hazard. Waited a few minutes and looked up the issue on the internet. I turned the vehicle back on and it was as if nothing had ever happened. I was able to get back on the road and I thought maybe it was just a malfunction. I was very scared but drove into work with no idling issues. Saturday 10/26/2019 I was on my way to the grocery store and it happened again, near my house on a residential road. I was going about 35-40 and all of the sudden the vehicle once again slowed down, this time to about 10-15 mph. Once again, I was almost rear ended, I was able to pull onto the side of the road, this time I called a tow truck. I waited a few hours and nothing. I shut the vehicle off and drove home, about half a mile. Once again the dashboard clear and car drove off with no issue. Car was taken to dealership on 10/26/2019. It is currently being looked at but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
This is the second time this has happened. Upon starting the car, the motor revs uncontrolled to about 7000 rpms. I have to turn ignition off to stop the motor from damaging its self. If my foot was to ever slip off the clutch, we would race uncontrolled in reverse! the car is always parked and started while in reverse. Almost afraid to start this car.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Mustang. When the accelerator pedal was depressed at approximately 80 mph, a fuel odor emitted from the air vent inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a smoke test was performed and the technician stated that the vehicle was operating as designed. In addition, while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,400. The VIN was not available.
2014 Ford Mustang. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems. The consumer stated she heard a ticking sound, after driving for 15 minutes. The dealer stated the entire long block needed to be replaced. After the long block was replaced, the engine light started flashing, and the engine was revving higher than normal. The vehicle accelerating by itself in gear and there were pressure issues with the brake pedal. The dealer was unable to replicate the consumers concern. The next time the consumer returned to the dealer, the ignition was replaced. The rpm's continued to rev, idle was very rough, even with the ac off. The ticking noise was still present, and the brake pedal was hard to the touch.
