Failure Date: 05/25/2025

The passenger side door will open by itself. This happened twice within the last month with a passenger in the seat and once with no passenger. The warning lamp will come with an alert to say that the passenger side door is open. This puts the safety of those in the car at risk of falling out, or possibly an accident if the door completely opens. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2024

The contact's husband owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact while reversing, the rearview camera image was distorted and black. The contact stated that the failure had increased, causing the rearview camera to become inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that the tailgate had failed to open while using the key fob, while pressing the tailgate release switch inside the cabin and the release button on the decklid. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the decklid wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 22v082000 (back over prevention) because the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2024

A plastic clip ("brake pedal bumper") broke and fell out of place, causing the brake pedal to no longer reach the brake light switch. The brake lights now remain illuminated permanently, even with the brakes released. This also caused the engine and transmission to go into "limp mode", the engine no longer revving over 2,000 rpm, the transmission not shifting, and hill-start assist and traction control no longer working, making the car unsafe to drive. The brake lights will remain on even when the car is completely shut off and locked, draining and damaging the battery. It is my understanding that this is a known issue, and there was a recall for this in certain states. (safety recall 22s02, regional recall 22r01). There should be a national recall for this, as the affected part appears to be of low quality, and causes safety issues when it fails, with the car's drivability and lighting affected.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

Third tail light and rear tail lights remained illuminated after the car was turned off. Driver discovered the brake light switch (rubber/plastic piece) had crumbled into the floor board preventing the tail lights from turning off, thus, becoming a hazard to other motorists on the road as the tail lights remained illuminated even while driving. While the vehicle was being driven, the driver could not accelerate to the appropriate speeds as the car was "thinking" the brakes were being applied and could only approximately drive at 40-50 mph. The vehicle has been inspected and the above information was confirmed as the issue. No other warnings/messages occurred prior to the piece breaking.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2024

Wire under passenger sear for heated seats has burning smell. Wire was replaced but happens again. Will need to replace entire plug.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the local dealer had previously marked the recall of NHTSA campaign number: 22v082000 (back over prevention) as complete as no failure was found upon inspection of the vehicle. The contact stated that the trunk later failed to open, and the trunk emergency release mechanism was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed that the deck lid wiring harness had failed, and the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 22v082000 (back over prevention). The dealer sent a diagnostic report to the manufacturer; however, the manufacturer declined to cover the repair. The manufacturer informed the dealer that another dealer had already marked the recall as complete upon inspection of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,600.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

The little rubber pad that it attached to the brake pedal disintegrated. Without that pad the vehicle goes into limp mode and won’t drive over 40. Don’t know why the brake switch is connected to other electronics in the vehicle that would make it go into limp mode. Very unsafe while driving on the highway.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2023

The brake pedal stop bumper has fallen off and causing the exact issues in safety recall notice 22s02; NHTSA recall 22v011. This VIN and others should also be added to this recall. Pictured item was located on the floors.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2023

The plastic break switch pad broke when I was driving on the highway. I lost engine power and rpms were erratic. Brake lights would not turn off even when brakes were not applied. I could not excellorate normally or maintain speed. Upon examination the pad was brittle and yellowing. There is already a safety recall for this part but only in certain states that does not include arizona.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2023

Backup camera recall repair failed to connect the problem. Backup camera still not functioning.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and while the vehicle was parked, the windows went up and down, the doors unlocked, the back over prevention camera engaged, the trunk opened, and the exterior lights engaged independently. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the harness that extended from the rear to the front of the vehicle had failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 22v082000 (back over prevention) however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage approximately 85,000.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2022

1. Trunk would not open. (we had to get this fixed so we got it fixed. ) the wiring to the trunk was broken. Without a trunk that opens the convertible is pretty useless for anything but driving. Luckily we didn't have groceries inside when it stopped opening. I did call the Ford dealership (the 1st one) and was told to use the key to get it to open through the seats. The wiring was broken. Thank god no child had gotten in there! 2. 3rd brake light was not working. (we had to get this fixed so we got it fixed. ) this is a hazard with a lower car. Other cars don't see you stopping without this feature. 3rd brake light is also on that wiring harness and was fixed at the 2nd dealership. 3. Back-up camera stopped working. (we wanted to get this fixed however, the cost was more than we had at the time. ) it needs to be working. A person can see behind to back up. This is a safety issue for certain! we were told we would need to get another camera as it was also on the same wiring. This is a problem for backing up with a convertible that has a small window. If the top is down in good weather I can see, however,. . There is more driving done with the top up. 4. We also have had a problem with our heated/cooled seats. We were they were not on the same wiring. But, could be fixed for $$$. This was started last spring/summer. (2021) we have written Ford motor CO. And they said there weren't problems with any of these items and they wouldn't be fixing them. Yes, there is a problem with them and they should be fixed.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2021

The issue is the brake light switch stop pad on the brake pedal which is a rubber type of plug. At 70,000 miles the brake light switch stop pad cracked and fell into floor board (see pictures). When that happened, the rpms dropped to idle speed and the car slowed down. After a few seconds, the car would pick up speed again only to repeat the event over and over again. I understand that when the brake light switch stop pad is missing and the plunger on the switch is fully out, the car thinks that you are applying the brakes. I was lucky, I was on a two lane road with no traffic, but I was headed to an inter-state with heavy traffic. Ford (nor does anyone else) does not sell just the rubber plug which fits on the brake pedal, but it will sell the complete brake pedal assembly. Not sure the reason that the brake pedal would require the hole that requires the rubber plug, but think that Ford should be responsible for the replacement or a better solution for the repair (provide a replacement plug, not just the complete brake pedal assembly. Thank you for you time in this matter. Bruce moore.

Brake lights remained on when car was turned off.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The rearview camera will intermittently display a blank or distorted image. When placing the car in reverse the camera will intermittently display a blank screen or distorted image while reversing the vehicle. This reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. This happens when both stationary and in motion. This is the same issue that my 2020 Ford Mustang gt VIN [xxx] has just received a recall notice for. The camera began to fail the summer of 2020. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
