1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2025

The evaporator is leaking and apparently is a known issue from Ford and they didn't report this. The evaporator core is leaking and it blows hot air for a good amount. It draws a lot of power form the system and drops the rpm below idling. Forcing me to rev a cold engine so that it does not stall out.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

The 2015 Mustang has been driven about 62,000 miles. The car has not been driven excessively in the 8 + years my wife and I have owned it. I recently heard a noise from the car. I brought the car to a local reputable repair shop. They determined, that there was a problem with the differential. They took the housing case off and found metal shreds in the case. They feel that a bearing failed caused the complete differential failure. I talked to Ford and they have no open recalls for this and recommended contacting the NHTSA. The car is at the repair shop waiting for parts to repair the differential at a cost of approximately $3,000.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2024

Weld at clutch pedal assembly broke, causing the clutch pedal to bind. This binding prevents the clutch pedal from fully depressing.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2024

The weld that connects the clutch pedal bar to the tube it pivots in broke on my 2015 Mustang. This makes the pedal wobbly and can prevent the clutch from being fully depressed. For months, the clutch was squeaking. Upon inspection, I noticed the weld was broken. I have not been in an accident because of this, however, the clutch pedal is now loose and can at times hit the 'neutral' switch (which measures full depression of the clutch to allow the car to start), which prevents inconsistent depression of the clutch, leading to unsafe operation.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 mph the vehicle was shifting roughly. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became a recurring failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to technical service bulletin number: 20b27 torque converter (power train). The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2024

Related to regional recall 22r01, the rubber bumper on my brake pedal that engages the brake light switch failed and placed the vehicle in a low power mode. This failure occurred while merging onto the interstate and almost resulted in my being rear-ended by a semi truck. Having never been notified of this regional recall, I was able to verify this was the case after searching forums and youtube and identifying the pieces of the broken bumper in my floorboard. I find it to be horrendously unacceptable that this was allowed to be handled as a regional recall and no notice was ever produced, as it is a safety-related issue that could have resulted in grievous bodily harm. I am located in kentucky, which is not part of the named region.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, upon the transmission shifting into 4th gear, the tachometer rose 3,000 rpm, after which the vehicle lost motive power and the transmission was unable to shift above 4th gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the clutch. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2023

2015 Mustang ecoboost premium with performance package. Coolant leaked into the engine oil, causing damage to the engine. Now the engine may have to be rebuilt or replaced.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2023

The welds on the top of the clutch pedal at the pivot point were insufficient from the factory and failed. I was having issues operating the clutch and after doing some research found that this is a common issue and was never covered under any factory warranty. I did not have this inspected at a dealer because I knew it would not be covered. I was able to remove the pedal assembly and repair it and added additional welds myself. I think this is a huge safety concern due to the possibility of the clutch pedal cracking completely and coming loose, which could cause the vehicle to unexpectedly engage the clutch and run someone over or cause a collision. I have photos of the damaged components. It took me a total of 8 hours to complete the repairs. I am also concerned about the quality of the steel used to construct the pedal as it may be too brittle. The oem should re-design this part and update their manufacturing & welding proceedures.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate violently. The contact also stated that the failure was previously intermittent but has since occurred whenever driving at or above 50 mph. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the center support bearing and drive shaft assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA campaign number 17v408000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 99,000.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2021

The aluminum cast crossmember that supports the transmission is cracked and split in several places . Shifting and or jumping in or out of gear . The dealer wanted $800. 00 dollars to replace a $132. Part that is hard to find in the marketplace ,because of others buying these faulty parts up ! no warning signs except hard to shift , cracked part was found by benson Ford in easley s. C. The car has less than 70,000 miles on it . No warnings whatsoever !.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2021

While driving and pressing on accelerator pedal car slows down without pressing the gas as if the car is about to turn off. This is a very dangerous hazard as I am in the middle of a highway which can cause an accident if it does turn ofd. I noticed that the brake lights are on 24 hours a day whether the vehicle is off or on , this could be the issue, something is either jammed in the engine system or the brakes sensors are messed up and are not telling the rest of the car that the car is on and moving. There is no messages that are telling me inside the Mustang that something is wrong with my car . I have had my car 6 years and this is the first time I see this happening.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2021

Break switch pad is really easy to break. Break lights stay on after car is stopped and in park and cut off. While driving very dangerous get no power to speed up and when you hit the gas nothing.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2021

The brake pedal stopper failed. The brake lights stay on all the time, you are unable to accelerate safely. This is a driveability and safety issue and poor design. This occured while driving on street, when I stopped is when I noticed the brake lights on after 15 minutes being stopped. I restarted car and attempted to accelerate but unable to effectively. I had a vehicle follow me around block and the brake lights were on all the time. Had vehicle trailered to the Ford dealer for diagnosis and repair. This vehicle has only 1857 miles on it.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2020

The manual transmission is faulty, got it replaced under warranty and now again went bad but no more warranty. The ac compressor went out and evaporator core is bad(very common problem with 15-17 models), it causes windshield to fog up bad and can barely see at times when driving, very expensive to fix too.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

After 5 visits to a Ford dealer, rough idling issue finally discovered and fixed on 5/4/2023. All 4 vct solenoids were found to have malfunctioned. Issue began 06/2020 and involved car rough idling at stops or stop and go traffic. No codes were shown on dash. During episodes, car might shut off. It would turn on if car restarted again. Vehicle first seen at Ford dealer on 7/3/2020. No issue found. Follow-on visits on 3/11/2021, 10/25/2022, and 3/22/2023 brought no answers to issue. Car left at dealers for 2-5 days at a time.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2020

The brake stop pad spontaneously shattered on my '15 Ford Mustang v6 while driving. The car lost power: would not exceed approx 1500 rpm, throttle unresponsive, no check engine light (mil). I was driving on a two way road and suddenly lost power as I was approaching the 75mph section from 55mph. The tractor trailer behind me could have rear ended me if they weren't paying attention. Fortunately, when the pad broke, the brake lights illuminated despite not depressing the brake pedal. Other drivers were aware there was a problem immediately before I turned on the hazard lights. With the pad broken, the tail lights will not turn off even after engine shutdown and the button-start ignition bypassed the need to depress the brakes to start the engine. It is dangerous to be able to start the engine without needing to engage the brakes. Many people have had this problem but it is difficult to troubleshoot since there's no mil or dtc codes. Third party replacement pad cost $2, but Ford, apparently, only sells the whole brake assembly for $200 and costs up to $900 to have it done. People have opted to use zip-ties or disc magnets instead. Vehicles with this brittle brake pad need to have them replaced ASAP. It seems '15 vehicles are failing after 3-4 years. The sudden loss of power and bypassing the button-start ignition safety features makes this a serious issue. Owners with this issue seem to live in hotter regions like texas or florida.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. While driving 45 mph, unknown warning indicators flashed and the engine failed. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic and attempted to diagnose the vehicle, but no failure could be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

The getrag mt-82 transmission locks me out of 2nd gear when im accelerating hardly for ex. Merging on the highway. Also my Mustang is plagued with electrical issues ranging from connecting with bluetooth, inoperable backup camera, tag light wire stripped. Sometimes when I start my vehicle, bluetooth will not connect to my phone for reasons I dont know. Also the backup camera works 10% of the time. Ive read that Fords wiring is being crimped in between the trunk lid. Lastly the rear tag light wires have been stripped/corroded due to poor weather protection.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

The ac on my Mustang has gone out 3 times causing my windshield to fog up and making it very hard to see through. From my understanding Ford already knows about this problem and the defective ac compressor and evap. I have been having problems with the ac since 20 thousand miles. I also have oil leaking onto my driver side floorboard from a bad master slave cylinder. This also started around 20 thousand miles and Ford did not want to warranty it even though the car was still under manufacture warranty. They said that it doesn’t fall under power tran warranty which does not make sense. This makes it unsafe to drive when your foot becomes slippery from oil. I also have rust all over my hood that Ford did not want to cover under their 5 year paint warranty. Very disappointed by Ford and the low quality product they knowingly put out.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

Coolant leak.

22 Power Train problem

I was provide a technical service bulletin, ssm47787, tick tap and or typewriter noise at idle. After an oil change. This ssm doesn't address the 2015 Mustang v-6. And the knocking is all the time when the engine is at operating temp. This my third trip to the dealer. Mileage over 28,000. The ssm doesn't address the root cause. Engine at idle to 1700 rpm in park / drive. This last time the oil was change and the time before it. It was over fulled with oil by at lease a 1/2 quart.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

2015 Mustang 2. 3 l ecoboost, when at ideal for more then 5 - 10 min. It starts smoking white smoke from the tail pipes, the longer it sits the heavier the smoke gets. Steering : sometimes when turning left the steering wheel doesn't return to center, I have to pull the steering wheel, as if it is stuck. Transmission feels like it shifts hard sometimes and sometimes it does not. Passenger airbag : when someone is riding with me the airbag turns off. Driver side seat: has cooled seats. Doesn't work all the time, states it is on, but not feeling anything cool. Contacted Ford and they will not do much about it. Except tell me to bring it to the shop.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2016

Car would idle then cut off during stationary, engine would cut off while in motion on highway or city street turning and not turning. Car would not accelerate or move when pressing gas. Heated seat caught on fire. Steering wheel controls stopped working. New battery would die then be fine, car have problems after filling with gas would not start, black and white smoke came out of the exaust and displayed low fuel when it had a full tank. Car restricted me from driving past 80. Power train issues , auxiliary emission control failed, computer output circuit failed.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Loud thud when shifting, grinding during shifting of all gears, intermittent high rpm lockout. Ford claims its "normal".

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

Car is experiencing a vibration problem at 65 to 75 mph, in 6 gear, and engine is at 1750 rpm. Vibration is duplicated again, in 5th gear, and engine is at 2500 rpm. Also, with car in the stop position, car in neutral, with clutch in or out, slowly revving the engine vibration occurs at 1500 to 1750 rpms. Also if you quickly rev the engine to 2500 rpm and drop revs slowly vibration reoccurs at 1750 to 1500 rpm. This problem has been present with initial purchase of vehicle, dealership said it was tires and drive it for awhile. The car has since been in the dealership 5 times, replaced all 4 tires, force road balanced 3 times, and has been to second Ford dealership for confirming vibration problem. Second dealership also had another new Mustang experiencing same vibration and could not be fixed. Ford motor company has declared the vibration problem is within specs for Mustangs and has declared it "normal operating characteristics" for Mustangs. At this point my case with Ford has been closed. If this vibration problem is occurring in 40 percent of Mustangs as a prior complaint has stated then Ford motors need to address it and not ignore it.
