36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2021

The clutch pedal of my Mustang failed at just over 90,000 miles. I was driving in my neighborhood when the pedal was no longer able to be operated safely and required twisting my leg in order to push the pedal down. After limping the vehicle home, I inspected the pedal and found that weld that joined one side of the pedal arm to the pivot bar had broken off completely, and the other side had cracked. This allowed significant lateral movement of the pedal, which caused it to hang up in the assembly when pushing it in. There was no abuse loading of the pedal through the life of the car. As a mechanical engineer, I can say with confidence that the weld that broke off was bad/cold, and that once it broke, shifted all the pedal loads to the other side, resulting in its failure. This design is not robust to typical manufacturing quality variations due to the welds being only 90 deg around the circumference. My failure is only one of dozens that have been reported in model specific forums and on social media. I have encouraged others with this issue to report theirs.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

While on vacation (my car was at home) a piece in my brakes broke and caused my break lights to be on constantly. When I tried starting my car the battery was dead. The break likes being on like they were ended up causing my battery to corrode by time I got home from the continuous energy drain. I was able to jumpstart my car but when I went to put my car in drive the vehicle would not accelerate over pretty much idling. When I got my car towed to the dealership (gary yeoman's) they told me the break bumper disintegrated and caused my break lights to be on and a vehicle acceleration override to be engaged.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2018

After driving approximately 5 miles at highway speed, several warning indicators illuminate, including advancetrak unavailable, the abs indicator, traction control indicator, and air bag indicator. All of these systems become unavailable.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

I have a manual transmission. Vehicle was parked with the emergency parking brake fully engaged. Vehicle rolled downhill and crashed into a fence. Contacted dealer and they said vehicle was not covered by any recall.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 70 mph, the driver approached heavy traffic, but the brakes did not slow down the vehicle. The driver used the emergency brake to slow the vehicle down. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (fort mill Ford in fort mill, SC, 803-948-8202) where it was diagnosed that the booster block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a blown head gasket. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2017

The break pedal is too close to the accelarator and if you press down far enough of the brake, your foot may also touch the accelerator, thus causing the car to accelerate while you are trying to slow down or stop. I contacted the dealer as well as the district office, but they found nothing wrong. Finally, they had someone ride with me and they noticed that at a certain point, my foot was coming in contact with the accerarator by maybe 1/8". The dealer said they couldn't do anything about fixing it because there had been no recall issued. I have had numerous occasions where I have almost been in an accident because of this, even after I became aware of the issue. I can't beleiev that I am the only one in the country who has had this problem, and my feet are not that big. I believe by moving the brake pedal to the left about 1/4" will resolve the issue. The dealer said they would do it when/if a recall was issued. As stated before, this happens when the brake pedal is depressed beyond a certain point, which is usually when hard braking, or a quick slowdown is required and there is no time to think about where your foot is in relation to the accelerator.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned and would not hold when the vehicle idled too long especially in heavy traffic. The vehicle was taken to allan vigil Ford of fayetteville (275 glynn st n, fayetteville, GA 30214, (770) 461-1151) several times, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact stated that the failure occurred when the vehicle was warmed up rather than from a cold start. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 2,000. The VIN was unknown.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Brembo brake kit squeals when driving at slow speed coming to a stop. My car as 13k miles on it.

45 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

For the past three years. When I go to work. Everything is fine. When I leave work. I back the car up about 15-30 feet. Then pull out of the parking lot. When I pull out. As I press the gas & start going faster. The car stalls, jerks as if the breaks are pushed, then starts driving as normal again. It happens all the time. But my Ford place says it has to do it with them driving for them to know what to do or what the issue is. Then this past week. The same thing happened. But it happened for a longer time and the traction control light brinked the whole time I was trying to accelerate. So a friend at a Ford body shop told me it was probably my abs sensor. Also the hood of my car started to loose paint for no reason. No rust. It's just flaking off. The flacking started near the headlight underneath the top of the hood. & is slowly coming towards the top of the hood. My 36,000 mile warranty just expired right after I noticed the issue. And they wouldn't cover it. I don't think that's right!.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2015

When the car is still silent for several minutes it run out of breaks and the sound when braking is dry and it seem to shave. The recommendation on the Ford dealer was not much use of the breaks, in my impression this is was completely irresponsible.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

There is a high pitched squeal when applying the brakes in stop and go traffic, or turning around. Seems to happen more early morning (dew or wetness). This started with about 500 miles on the car, and service indicated the brakes needed broke in, still continues with 4,000 miles on the car.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2015

While driving my vehicle for a weekend get away, I had total brake loss while driving the vehicle in heavy traffic. Brake pedal became really hard and went down all the way to the floor. I had to used my hand brake to reassure my self of stopping and not colliding with the vehicle in front of me. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off for about 3 minutes, I cranked the vehicle back on tested the brakes before I continued and they felt normal, the temperature outside was 115. Two days later, as I am pulling up into my designated parking stall of my work. Brake pedal became hard and nonexistent, pedal went all the way to the floor and had to use the hand brake to stop the vehicle. I parked the vehicle and set up an appointment with my purchasing dealer that same day. At the end of my working day, I turned over my vehicle and tested the brakes before leaving the office, just to make I had brakes. And just like last time brakes were normal. I dropped off my vehicle on Thursday at 5:15 pm, today is Monday and they are still working on the problem. The service advisor, who is working on my case is giving me a projected response day of Wednesday. That would mean, that my vehicle would be in at the repair facility for a about 4 working days. The problem that he is foreseeing is that they are having difficulty replicating the issue. At this point I just want to rest assure that I will be safe driving my vehicle. Also, I am not the only person with this similar situation. And in one occasion he was involved in a serious car accident that has been recorded.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

On July 4th, my 2015 Ford Mustang, had a break pedal issue, the pedal would lock and would not allow vehicle to stop. The fist time happen to me wile driving 55 mph and I was lucky because it was early in the morning on a not buy avenue so I was able to top the car with the hand break. However, in the process I was not able to stop at a red light. The tow the vehicle with 882 miles and returned to me with 882 miles. Service was horrible I had purchase the rental car option and the car was not provided to me until the day after the incident. In addition, they only conducted a visual point inspection and reprogrammed the pcm. I spoke to my case manager at Ford and they guarantee that they had resolve the problem and that it would not happen. Unfortunately on August 1st only a month later and at around 1500 miles, the break pedal locked and this time I was involve in an accident. Although I was driving only 35 mph, my vehicle suffer sever damages. I tow the vehicle to Ford and expected a rental car, but they told me that I would have to pay for the rental, which is stupid because my extended warranty should cover the expenses of the rental. I feel lucky that I had the accident at a low speed and I didn't have any injury to my self. However if it would been at a highway speed I could be death and possible many other, due to an issue that I had presented to Ford a month in advance. I hate Ford, I am scare to drive, and every time I hear a honk I panic. Today is a week since the accident and dealership has not even look at the car since they are still waiting on Ford instructions. The dealership excuse is that they need to drive the car to diagnose the issue, however the wheel and tire and the arm that help to give the direction of the car is damage and does not allow them to drive it. Now Ford wants to drive it!!.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

Under light pressure the brakes squeal in a high pitch. Especially in stop and go traffic. They also squeal when braking around corners . I see excessive wear in the rear rotors for a car with less than 3000 miles also. The dealership said it was the composition of the rotor metal that it was no worries . . I worry . I was a master tech for 15years and this isn't correct . I bought a $50g car so I could have a good car and warrantee. . ?????.

51 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

I was driving down the road and when I tried to brake for a stop light the brake pedal pulsed against the pressure of my foot and would not let me stop. I used the emergency brake to keep from wrecking my vehicle into the vehicle in front of me. I decided to go directly to my workplace, using my emergency bake to stop at each light/stopsign, after this happened. In addition to the brake issue, when I went to accelerate from stop the vehicle would accelerate very slowly as if in a limp mode. No lights have appeared on my dash and Ford has told me there are no codes stored. They say that having it towed has reset my vehicle?!? Ford has told me that because they dont see any codes stored in the computer I should pick up my vehicle and drive off with it. My father ownes a mobile electronics shop and has seen lots of different issues on many vehicles where the cpu's in the vehicle has issues and causes the vehicle to act in many faulty ways. Some with codes, others without. It appears to me that one or more of the cpu's in my vehicle have a defect causing my vehicle to act this way. I feel very unsafe driving this car now and do not agree with Ford that I should continue driving my vehicle.

52 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor board. The contact was able to slow the vehicle using the emergency brake. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer was unable to determine the failure. 53 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2015

Rental car, I was in stop and go traffic going into the Lincoln tunnel when the brake peddle did nt work properly. The peddle went down almost to the floor. When applying the brakes. The peddle pulsated and needed a lot of pressure to stop the car. The brakes started to work again after about 10 minutes. This incident was scary and could have caused an accident. I reported the incident to enterprise car rental.

54 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2015

I failed to leave the car in 1st gear on an approximately 4% grade. I engaged the parking brake and left the vehicle. The vehicle remained parked in place for 20-30 minutes. Somewhere between 0 and 30 minutes later, the parking brake released and the vehicle rolled down the grade, causing damage to the vehicle and neighbor's property. I am an ex-braking engineer and have reproduced the defect multiple times well under the fmvss 135 protocol limits of acceptable performance. I communicated this to Ford customer care and they wish for me to have body damage replaced through insurance.
