Over the last few months my passenger door comes ajar at highway speeds. This is extremely dangerous. I have noted there is a recall for 2015 models for this issue also built at the flat rock plant. I also note that many owners of similar models also not included in the open recall are also having the same issues. What is it going to take to make Ford recall more models? a child falling out of a moving car on the highway?.
I have being having issues with the doors unlocking not completley but to the second lock, the open door light will show up on the dashboard, at first it was only the passenger side one, then it was both, took it to Ford and they did nothing, also for the recall 25v572 they told me I had to buy a new camera.
While driving 45mph, my passenger door suddenly opened, and I received a notification on my car's dashboard warning me that the door had opened. When it was safe to pull over, I was able to shut the door but this has been the second time this has occurred, the first being about 2 months earlier while I was driving on the free way going 65mph. This is very dangerous since if my door opened while I was driving, my belongings could fall out of my car while driving, my passenger would be put at risk, and my door could potentially hit another car next to me. Ultimately, my passenger door's lock failed and it is available for inspection upon request. The door failing to stay locked while driving put me and my passenger at risk. The vehicle has not been inspected since I looked online and many others with my car have this issue, but Ford requires hundreds of dollars just to inspect which I can not afford right now. There was a warning sign on my car's dashboard that my passenger door opened while I was driving.
Passenger door opens consistently when hitting bumps in the road. Door ajar warning comes on instantly and car beeps.
The passenger side door keeps unlatching itself. So, when I am driving on a street, I will sometimes occasionally get "passenger side door ajar" warning message that pops up on my dash, and sure enough, the door is open. I have to lean over and quickly slam it shut. I've noticed this happens particularly when driving on a bumpier road. I know there has been similar recalls for this same problem on the driver side door that was mentioned on - NHTSA campaign number: 17v168000.
Passenger door comes ajar while driving down the road. I was not leaning against the door and while I was driving the door became ajar enough so that wind was flowing as if the door was cracked open.
Passenger door became partially unlatched while driving at highway speed over rough pavement. This is the second time this has occurred. Both times the dashboard warning light came on to let us know it was unlatched, but we are certain that it was completely closed when initially getting into vehicle. Online q&a sites confirm multiple others with this experience and no recalls or TSB to this date.
Passenger door came unlatched on the highway going approximately 70 mph once on 10/6/2023 and again the next day on 10/7/2023. First, the driver heard the door click and then hear wind and then the door ajar alert sounded on the dashboard.
While on the freeway, my passenger door unlatches and opens. The warning indicator goes off that a door is open and it is free from the locking mechanism, requiring the door be opened and pulled closed while in motion. The door has done this repeatedly for over a year. Most recently, it opened and almost hit another vehicle on the road. This is incredibly dangerous and a panic inducing concern that occurs with no advanced notice. The door has been checked and verified as securely fastened before departing every trip and it still happens.
The passenger door opened while the vehicle was moving on the highway. This has happened twice in the last 2 months. The dash warning illuminated to let me know.
There is a crack in the metal weld of the vehicle by both top corners of the windshield. This crack has allowed water into the interior of the car and soaked the side airbag in between the driver door and windshield.
The passenger door opened by itself by driving in a highway. There was no one seating in the passenger seat, no bumps, just in the middle of the highway at 65 miles per hour. Is the 4th or 5th time this happened the last year.
Passenger side door pops open while driving at high speed after small bumps in the road. This has happened at least a dozen times. Is Ford waiting for a child to fall out of the car?? a google search turns up many complaints on the same issue.
The passenger door latch failed when driving at higher speed (70 mph). While driving on the turnpike at 70 mph, the passenger door unlatched while the passenger seat was occupied. The car had to be pulled over and come to a complete stop in order to close the door and have it re-latch. This happened twice in the span of an hour. It has happened on three other occasions but was thought to be a one-off occurrence each time.
The passenger door has unlatched randomly 3 times in the span of 1 year, first time I thought the door was not properly closed, it happened twice yesterday and I'm sure the door was correctly closed. Q:what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? a: door latching system. Yes it is available q: how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? a: the left door unlatches randomly while traveling on the highway. My wife was seating in the passenger seat yesterday when it happened. Door could have opened if she was leaning on it. Q: has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? a: it has happened 3 times, always on the highway traveling at highway speeds in the span of 1 year, I thought the first tie I left the door open, it happened twice yesterday, I'm sure the door was correctly closed. No dealer have tried to reproduce it (I doubt they can) q: has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? a: no q: were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? a:. No only the door opened message in the dashboard after the door unlatches.
When driving on highway 60-80 mph after maybe 40-50 minutes the driver door unlatches, the door ajar alert comes on. The passenger door has also opened, not at the same time. The problem is mostly the driver door. It is very traumatizing to be driving and feel the door unlatch at high speeds on highway. I have reported this multiple times please issue a safety recall to include this model as well.
Traveling on highway passenger door became unlatched giving a door ajar warning on the dashboard. Door had been closed properly. Stopped and closed door again. About a half an hour later the driver side door became unlatched on the highway giving a door ajar warning on the dash. This door had also had been properly closed.
The passenger door keeps opening randomly when I am driving. It’s very scary since I have younger kids riding in the passenger.
Two times within the last two months, my passenger door has become ajar while driving down the highway. When I stopped and went around the car to shut it back completely, it was opened quite a bit - approx two inches or so. I was shocked and this is very scary. I have read many many other people have had this same problem with their 2017 convertibles and other year models as well and this is dangerous. I suggest you put a recall out for my model before you end up getting sued for a wrongful death where someone falls out the door.
While driving (varying speeds) the passenger or driver's door would open. The warning would say "door ajar". It has happened 8 times in the last year. Dealer said it was not a recall issue, and could not fix it because they could not recreate it problem.
I was driving approximately 40-45 mph and t- boned another vehicle that pulled out in front of us. I slammed on the brakes, and slowed our speed down as much as possible. The driver side airbag knee airbag deployed. The passenger side attempted to deploy but didnt.
The passenger side door will open randomly while driving. This has happened multiple times in the course of a day.
I was traveling down the highway at approximately 60mph when the hood of the car flew up (came unlocked) it came into the driver's side windshield. The right side of the hood broke loose from the car and the hood wrapped around the drivers door making it impossible to exit the vehicle. There is a hood latch problem. I was able to exit the car through the passenger side.
While driving my 2017 Mustang convertible at highway speeds, the driver and/or passenger door randomly opens. This has happened a few times now. There is a recall open right now for 2015 Ford Mustangs with the same exact problem.
I was driving on return trip on highway April 70 miles hour for about 45 min and door driver unlatched by itself, although it did not open all the way it still scared me to death. The alert came on saying door is ajar. I stopped to open and close door fully.
While driving on highway approximately 60-70 miles hour after approximately 1 hour driver door opens by itself. I can feel the door release and light comes on saying the door is ajar.
Door would open while driving, warning lamp would then appear "door ajar". Happens to both passenger and drivers side. Has happened 48 times, since June 2020. It happens at different speeds, anything from 70 mph, to pulling into a parking stall (2 mph). Dealer looked at it, they said they consulted Ford, and there is nothing they could do. (today, (4/1/22), it happened 3 times in 1 day, passenger side twice, and drivers side once) I fear for my safety and the safety of my passengers.
Passenger side door unlocks while vehicle is in motion. This happened at 70 mph on an interstate highway. This has happened 3 times so far in 2020.
My wife is the primary driver of a 2017 Mustang convertible. In the past month or so, while driving at normal highway speeds, the passenger side door will become ajar causing a noisy air leak and the door ajar light appearing on the dashboard. This has happeded at least ten times in the last month.
The door opened at about 30mph. This happened after about 30 minutes of driving.
The tabs on the sides of the front bumper have broken off. In the event of an accident there would be less restraint from the bumper because it is not secured on properly. I have seen and heard of many people with this year and model having the same problem.
Passenger door will open on its own at highway speed. This has happened multiple times. Mileage at first report 32,783. Door remains latched but is not sealed and triggers door open alerts and dome light.
Tl-the contact owned a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact called to file a complaint for her fiance. The contact stated that while her fiance was driving at 30 mph, the vehicle hydroplaned and crashed into a ditch. The contact stated that the passenger's side door hinge fractured, allowing the door to become fly open. The contact stated that she was nearly thrown from the vehicle. The contact sustained minor injuries and medical attention was sought however, due to her pregnancy the doctors chose not to do xrays. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000. The vehicle was destroyed. Ah.
