Unknown Or Other problem #1

Tl- the contact owns a 1997 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while traveling 35 mph, a foul odor started to emit into the cabin. The contact then merged to the side of the road because he became distraught. The vehicle was driven to the contact's home. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,000 and the current mileage was 130,000. Pmb.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

At first the back up lights would flash on then go off when vehicle was placed in reverse and stay off even while still in reverse. The tach would show you doing about 800 rpm's no matter the speed and when I backed it in the garage after returning from Ford, the tach showed 9000 rpm while in park and key off. Vehicle studders when driving like its starving for fuel, Ford told me all of this is related to the sjb. They say it's corroded from coffee or some fluid getting on it. I have an extended warranty but they wont call it in because the text said it was coffee but would not say how the coffee got up behind the kick panel (pass side) under dash area. Ford has TSB 08-26-7, but wont repair at their expense and no recalls issued, even though it only occurs after the warranty expires.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

I have noticed that my car 2006 Ford Mustang convertible has been getting water coming inside from the passenger seat under the dashboard and it messes up the entire floor and cause a mildew smell. The back seats have water coming inside from either the side panels on the car on the convertible or the window at the back of the car or top of the convertible. I have researched this and many people have this issue with Ford convertibles and also other make a models of cars as well that are convertibles. I think this is a defect with how the Ford manufacturer built these Mustang convertibles and should be recalled to repair this problem. It causes the floors to be wet constantly with mildew smell and this could be dangerous with mold issues on floor and seats of vehicle and mold collection on windows and other part of vehicle and dangerous to health. I have only had my car since 2005 I bought a 2006 convertible and it immediately started having issues.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The instrument gauges are not working properly. The speedometer will often stick at 0-20mph while it is well over that. The temperature gauge is also stuck on cold even when the car has been warmed up for quite some time.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

When its raining water pours from under the glove department on passenger side.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Day after a rain a rain storm heard water dripping then I was going up a small hill and I heard water pouring. I looked over at the passenger side and saw water flowing in by the glove box. I pulled over and saw about 3 inches of water on the passenger side floor. Droped car off 5 min later as dealer ship is on my way to work found passneger side door seal leaking replaced at cost of 320$ because car was just out of warrenty but miles are only 35250 miles. Now my shaker 500 audio won't recognize aux audio. Going to bring back and complain. I found this to be a common problem after some research and that Ford knows about it. I think this problem is because of the change in the door design with the short drop window and no full frame around the window. What makes this worse for me is my brother has a 1988 Mustang x police car that has original seals aand weather striping and has never had a problem at over 100000 miles.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Design of the cabin air intake box and drain led to a back flow of water during a heavy downpour. This led to water flowing through the air ducts and into the passenger compartment behind the glove box. For placed 4"x6" piece of foam over the Smart junction box in an effort to "bandage the problem, rather than correcting the cause. As water entered the cabin area, it soaked the Smart junction box to fail which may have been the proximate cause for the engine dying. End result is that the Smart junction box must be replaced and programmed.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

I was approaching a stop light with 3 vehicles ahead of me. I had slowed down almost to a complete stop when all of a sudden the engine roared and the car lurched forward into the back of the pickup in front of me. I had the brake completely to the floor and then my rear wheels begin spinning with the motor still roaring. I was finally able to put the (automatic transmission) car in park as it seemed to be stuck when I first tried to get it out of gear and still the motor was revving up and still lurching forward and turned the key off and it shut down. My front bumper was damaged in the accident. No warning lights were showing on the instrument panel. Mechanic stated nothing picked up diagnostically in order to pinpoint the problem although the assumption was it was either the tps or possibly a vacuum leak. I have thoroughly enjoyed this car and prior to this have not had any problems with it, but now I am afraid to drive it.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Speedometer reading failure - gauge show 60mph at a standstill and maintains a similar margin while driving. Upon reading numerous online forums, I've realized that I am one of many experiencing this issue and was directed to file a complaint here.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear clunking slipped out of gear transmission problems.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

As I was making a left hand turn on the highway at approx. 15mph, I heard a loud pop/crack coming from the front of the vehicle. At this time the car started to drift off to the right and onto the side of the road. I tried to turn the steering wheel left to compensate for the change and the steering wheel continued to turn in a 360 degree rotation with no control of the tires. At this time I felt something hit my shoe from above the gas pedal and I realized that something had broke causing me to have absolute no control over the vehicle. After inspecting the steering column, it was evident that the shaft had completely separated from the column that goes into the floor board and into the firewall to the engine. No broken/shard parts of metal nor any broken pieces that could have fallen off were laying underneath. It was as if the shaft was "pulled" out of the column hole. After further inspection at a body shop, it was noted that the vehicle had never been into an accident (just like the carfax report had indicated) because there are no structural damages. The technicians had never seen an issue such as this and have no explanation as to how/why the shaft would just separate with such ease. I've spoken to several mechanics and dealerships and they have never seen/heard of an issue such as this. I bought the Mustang from a local used car dealership and they have not disclosed any information regarding steering issues/if there is any to disclose. I am having the body shop completely replace the shaft because I do not feel safe operating the vehicle, if this issue is to happen again with such ease and I loose total control of steering capabilities, who is to say it won't happen on the freeway with children in the car?.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

I stopped at a rest stop on the pennsylvania turnpike and after restarting the car the temp gauge went all the way past hot but the engine was at normal temp. After the next three starts the gauge needle is past all readings and essentially pointing toward the bottom of the temp gauge, at nothing. I cannot tell if the engine is hot or cold or in the normal range.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

This is regarding the intake manifold on Ford v8 engines. My intake manifold on my 2002 Ford Mustang v8 cracked and caused me to replace the entire intake manifold. When this happened, it leaked coolant rapidly. There was a class action suit filed (in which Ford was held liable) in the past years and I was never notified of this lawsuit regarding this issue. Ford has since stated that they will not honor any repairs after March 2006. However, this is still an issue and needs to be looked into further. My Mustang only has 89k miles and the manifold cracked without warning, causing a major repair bill of $1,231. Ford should be held accountable for any/all repair costs for an extended period of time regarding this weak engineering.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

2011 Mustang gt with 6477 miles, with 6 speed manual transmission. Taking off from a stop sign and attempting to shift from from 1st gear to 2nd gear, resulted in only being able to shift from 1st gear to neutral. Once the shifter moved into the neutral position, the vehicle is no longer able to shift into any gear. Had to coast the vehicle to a safe stopping point with no engine power and towed to the nearest dealer for repair. This is the 2nd incident with the transmission on this vehicle in less than 1 year, with the prior incident being a faulty slave clutch cylinder. (this vehicle is not equipped with the 'skip shift' feature that is meant to increase gas mileage by locking out certain gears. ).

Unknown Or Other problem #15

My son was driving his 2005 Ford Mustang yesterday when it burst into flames. He was pulling onto I 95 when the car suddenly shut off. He couldnt even make if off the driving area when it came to a complete stop. Once it stopped black smoke started pouring out. He jumped out of the car and ran away from it when it burst into flames. The car was in perfect condition. Never even missed an oil change. No warning signs of any issues. I am thankful that my son is safe but very upset at the Ford car and have now read many Ford fire issues that Ford has not corrected.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

I just visited an online Ford forum after being quoted $950 to repair my speedometer on my 2005 Ford Mustang. There are 4 pages of complaints detailing the same problem with the same vehicle. Perhaps Ford has avoided a recall by stating this does not effect safety or emissions. However, I got my first speeding ticket in over a decade 2 days after this problem began. Speed control does effect safety, and apparently, if gone without repair, the non-working speedometer effects the transmissions ability to shift properly, which is also a safety hazard. I do not have $950 to repair this problem, nor can I afford to pay the costs of speeding ticket fines, and the rise in my cost of auto insurance due to these fines. Please investigate this problem, as it appears to be a recurrent issue with this vehicle that Ford should take responsibility for.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

September 18, 2011: while exiting an interstate, I began to go around the cloverleaf of my exit, less than 15 mph, and the back end of my Mustang very quickly fishtailed spinning me all the way around. I ended up facing the people behind me, who fortunately were going as slowly as I was. Fortunately I was able to stop just short of hitting a concrete barrier wall. There was a very light rain, and the roads were wet. I have all new tires. I've had this problem since we purchased the vehicle, and have fish-tailed before, but never spun completely around. Completely terrifying. . . . .

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Faulty 6-speed manual transmission. Any time the vehicle is on an incline 20 degrees or higher and being shifted from 2nd gear (around 18-20mph) to any other gear the shifter gets stuck in neutral with inability to go to any other gear until the engine rpm drops. This shifting delay can take anywhere form 3 to 7 seconds, before another gear is available to engage.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

The speedometer, gas gauge and fueling guage on the instrument cluster has failed. Today the lighting behind the panel started to go out. This is a known common problem on the Mustang with several people reporting to Ford without any response to the public. We paid good money for these cars and this is a safty hazard. I cannot afford the 600+ quote, so I'm using a gps to guage my speed and I'm having to track my mileage so I know when to get gas. Ford needs to recall and fix before someone looses their life.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

The fourth spark plug on my 2002 Ford Mustang gt 4. 6l vehicle blew out. This resulted heavy loss of power, shaking, and more importantly fuel fumes to come out. The incident occurred on an interstate at high-speed and I was very fortunate to safely make it over to the emergency lane. The cost to repair the damage to the car is estimated at $2500. This is a very common safety issue with the Ford 8-cylinder engines for what I gathered through independent research after the incident. The threads are too thin around the spark plug and the heat causes them to blew out - literally.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

My 2011 Mustang has had some transmission issues for the last couple months. After reading some of the forums and getting an idea of some of the issues that other people are having (many of which I am as well), I can report the problem which got noticeably worse over the last few weeks. When driving the vehicle, 1. It's very difficult to shift into first gear (even when the car is stopped you really need to exert a little strength). 2. 1st to 2nd shifts very rocky, and it is very difficult to get a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd without the car bucking. 3. When shifting at a higher rpm from third to fourth (such as when accelerating on an onramp to merge onto a highway when the rpm may be exceeding 3500-4000 rpms), there is a tremendous grind in the shift, and to avoid I must shift into neutral from third wait a second and then engage into fourth. 4. When downshifting I have noticed that the front end seems to be almost locking up especially when the wheel is turned (this is within the last week), and all of these issues have exacerbated themselves since the cold weather has arrived.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

I have a 2012 Mustang v6 with the getrag mt82 6 speed transmission with the know issue of notchy shifting and sometimes not going into gear. I have been experiencing problems shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd gear. The problem is that it can be very difficult to actually shift gears. There can be a lot of resistance and are times when I have to force the car into gear or skip the gear completely. The transmission is grinding and resisting changing gears. Also, there is a vibration when I let off of the gas while the car is still in gear. And today I felt a grinding while I had the clutch completely depressed. This vibration can and does occur up to 25 times each day during my 40 mile commute. I have stopped by the dealership and inquired about any know issues and was told they are not aware of any. The car has exactly 5000 miles on it. I have owned many other cars with manual transmissions, such as two Honda accords and 2 Toyota celica's. These transmission issues are of great concern for my safety, the safety of my wife and the safety of our 4 year old daughter. Dealing with a screaming child is very unpleasant but every parent becomes accustom too (even thought we don,t like it). But having the issue of not being able to shift gears while driving through a busy intersection and dealing with a screaming child is terrifying. Please take a deep look into these concerns. There are plenty of actual videos available to confirm the complaints. Ford has done a terrific job. Just hold them accountable for this flawed transmission. I just want my new car to run safely. Thanks dan w.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

This is a huge issue that needs to be resolved a. S. A. P. I have seen and talked to many owners with this dangerous issuei have no clue how fast I em going the instrumental cluster tells me 30 mph but im flying by cars on the freeway , but its not just the mph, the hole cluster is erratic the needles are pointed left past the red zone some are pointed all the way right and some arent even working . Ford is going to have a law suit in its hands very soon if this is not resolved with a recall for all 2005 Mustangs. I went to the dealer and they said that the problem was the instrumental cluster. And that it was not covered by warranty he said it would be around $600. 00 . I told him that there was no way I was going to pay 600. 00 dollars for something that was done by Ford and not me. I guess the only way they will take this issue seriously is if someone get hurt or killed. Its sad but true.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

My car is still under the extra care extended warranty. 3 weeks ago I was sitting at a traffic light I pushed the clutch in, to put into first gear and got ready for the light turn green, when my car suddenly lunched and the clutch master cylinder part pa6-gf25 broke . Part number pa6-gf25 broke and was lying inside the driver side interior floor. I can't believe Ford used a plastic piece part pa6-gf25 to hold the clutch pedal to the clutch master cylinder. After close inspection I notice that due to stress over time it was broken in half. I could have seriously injured me or some else, when mention it to galpin Ford, they said it's not there problem they wanted to charge me 450 dollars to fix the problem, my car is still in the shop and my bill in going to be over a 1000 dollars and they don't want to cover it under the warranty either, I ready for to file a class action lawsuit and a recall can someone help me with this or knows other people who experienced with the same problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

Normal everyday driving, mostly highway driving back and forth to work. I bought the car brand new and at this time it has about 10k miles. Since I bought it I noticed it was hard to shift into gears. Over time it got worse. It got to the point that I could not put it into reverse and first gear, I had to start out in second gear. I took my car into the shop to repair the item and they said it was the clutch plate. Bottom line is that it was a brand new car and shouldn't have this kind of problem. I also feel that it could have caused damage to the transmission which the dealer will not admit to.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

While trying to shift from 1st to 2nd it wont go into 2nd gear, it feels like something is blocking the gear and it also has done it going from 2nd to 1st. During one instance when I was turning and tried to shift into 2nd gear and couldn't I was almost hit by an oncoming car but they were able to go around me at the last second. I also have a vibration in the transmission at around 2500 rpm's.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

6 speed manual transmission, 5. 0 liter engine. While under accelleration the transmission "hangs" when shifting from 4th gear to 5th gear. The shift into 5th gear will not occur unless the shift is stopped and started again I. E. Shift back to 4th and then to 5th a second time. This of course means that the vehicle is not accellerating, which is problematic when merging in traffic onto a highway or interstate in a metropolitain area. This "hanging" issue has not occurred in any other gear combination I. E. 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc. Only 4th to 5th. Since the first occurance this scenario has repeated itself again and again up to 5-6 times per week.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

The Mustang is a manual transmission and has been having problems since the 900mi (1. 5 months after purchase). The clutch assembly and transmission assembly are having to be replaced by Ford because they are not engaging correctly. Ford dealership tried to blame it on modifications done to the car. But after getting an engineer on site from Ford, they found it be faulty clutch and transmission assembly from the factory.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

I was proceeding from a stop sign to merge with on-coming traffic and was not able to enter 2nd gear and only after shifting into 3rd instead was able to avert being hit. It was not due to the 1st to 4th skip shift feature. The car has already been into Ford (for a technical service bulletin repair for the transmission) to fix the shifting problem, but the vehicle is still hard to shift in lower gears and now has transmission whine. This is very dangerous! many others are affected by this problem. Ford needs to recall this transmission.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

The car has a manual 6 speed transmission. When wearing loafers and with depression of the clutch to shift, the heel of the loafer upon releasing the clutch will catch on the floor mat and the shoe will dislodge from my foot. This has happened more than a dozen times and can/will cause an accident. It has happened with 3 different pairs of shoes. This can happen at any speed. The event described above was while backing out of the driveway but it has happened while shifting normally. I have notified Ford customer service today and they may provide me with a different floor mat however this is a concern with the design of this floor mat and should be addressed by Ford.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

2005 Ford Mustang convertiable. Severe water leakage occuring in passenger side front and rear areas. Water leaks into a compartment that surrounds the cabin air filter and then blows in through the cabin airway and leaks out below the glove box. This has severly damaged carpeting and causes mold and mildew to form. Very bad for anyone who breaths this in while traveling in the vehicle. Currently trying to seal with no luck and see hundreds of compliants on the internet. Occurs whenever vehicle is left outside in rain. The first 5 1/2 years of ownership the vehicle was garage kept. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

Instrument cluster on 2005 Ford Mustang v6 coupe. Speedometer began to show incorrect speeds. Sometimes it is 15-20 mph below actual speed and occasionally drops to zero or below.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

2005 Ford Mustang leaking when it rains. I have read plenty of forms that a lot of people have this problem that no one knows why or how. If this is not corrected it could cause health problems due to mildew or fire due to the moisture.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

I've a Ford Mustang 2005 v6 [coup] with 66,000 miles on it. Few months back, I was driving and suddenly realized that the speedometer gauge jumped to 120 mph even when the car is stationary. Of late, my temperature gauge is also giving erratic readings. . This is a problem which seems to be inherent in the car itself since this has been reported in umpteen internet forums particularly for Ford Mustang 2005 v6. Would request you to consider a recall for this issue. Thanks.

Unknown Or Other problem #35

2005 Ford Mustang coup v6 - instrument cluster failure - headlight failure -turn signal failure - false information via digital instrument display - door lock failure - radio failure. Indications of failure began in January 2010 with speedometer failure. In the fall of 2010, the charging system gauge failed but in-car system check reported all was normal. During the summer, speedometer returned to normal operations. Winter of 2010, speedometer failed again. End of January during warm weather, speedometer return to normal operation. February 1, speedometer fails again. February 2, ticking sound from behind the instrument cluster is noticed when ignition is turned off and speedometer fails. On February 4, 2011, entire instrument cluster failed, on board diagnostics reported traction control failure, low brake fluid, low oil pressure, parking brake on, low fuel warning, seatbelt warning, abs warning. At the same time, the power locks failed, power windows failed, security system failed, service light illuminated, interior lights failed, and radio failed, and windshield wiper fails. All these failures/incidents happen in cold weather only.

Unknown Or Other problem #36

When I start my car in the morning, and it is overcast out or has just rained, my shifter will not go into first or reverse. It takes a few minutes until I can force with all my strength the knob into gear. As I am driving though, I still have a hard time getting it into first gear after a stop, and many time cars have had to go around me into oncoming traffic and a few times have come close to an accident. The first dealer I went to in victorville told me to bring it back when it is acting up really bad. I brought it there one day when it was acting up and they told me they would get to it later. I called them a few minutes before they closed and they said they found nothing wrong, so I insisted to leave it and have them try it in the morning. The next day I called right before they closed again and they informed me everything was working fine. When I went to pick it up, I noticed they had not put even a mile on my car after checking the milage. I drove home and on the way home it was acting up very bad so I went back and told them. The guy that runs the counter went on a ride with me and I showed him when it happened and he said he thinks I'm probably not pushing the clutch down all the way and basically blew it off. I was a little insulted by his assumption of my incompetence, so I contacted Ford corporate about my issue and they said I should possibly try another dealer. A week later when I was getting my oil changed at a shop, they informed me that my water pump had a large leak. I took my car into the dealer in san bernardino, where they fixed the leak, but once again found nothing wrong with my shifter, and also found that my transmission was leaking. I went to a dealer in san diego when my car was still acting up bad, and they fixed my transmission leak, which took 10 days, but said my shifter was working completely fine.

Unknown Or Other problem #37

Went to start my car and noticed the speedometer was sitting on 20mph. Up to this point, it had no problems. I tried to reset according to manufacturer instructions with no success. A few days later it had moved up to 80mph. After a few more trips and several attempts to reset the speedometer, it finally dropped back down to 0. However, less than a month later, I have noticed it moving back up. Up to this point I have not replaced any parts as it is unknown what part is not causing the issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #38

The speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm gauge and engine temperature gauge all no longer work in my 2005 Mustang. They have all failed to function properly.

Unknown Or Other problem #39

Catalytic converter: long story short. My car was still eligible under the emissions warranty. Which made it eligible for Ford to repair the cat. Converter by law. I was given the run around (per Ford customer service)that my car wasn't covered under the "bumper to bumper" warranty since I had bought the car used. At that time(Nov. 2010) there was a major. . . Nationwide back order on cat. Converters. I waited until February to take my car down to Ford under the assumptions that I was responsible to pay for the $1200+ repair cost. Since I was under 80,000 miles. . Ford paid for my rental for a month and I had my cat. Converter fixed :). People kept telling me that my car was too new to have that problem. Well you never know. It just stopped working one day and I couldn't drive it over 5-10 mph.

Unknown Or Other problem #40

There is a water leak in the front of my Mustang, such that when it rains water comes through onto my feet. Due to the structure of the car allowing water to flow in areas that it should not, this caused water to ruin my windshield wiper motor. I had it replaced and my car looked at by two different mechanics who could not find the reason for the water flowing into my car and onto my windshield wiper motor. Today, as I was driving in the middle of a rainstorm, my windshield wipers stopped working again, and the motor was shorted out by the rain water. I see there is TSB out for this car and structural issues causing water to flow in the front, but twice now I have been driving in a rainstorm and unable to use my windshield wipers. This caused difficulty seeing while driving which I feel is a very serious safety concern. The water damage has caused me to pay for not only two windshield wiper motors but it is also causing mold/mildew in my car interior.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

Approximately a year ago, the speedometer and fuel gauges on my 2005 Ford Mustang started to malfunction. Since then, they have been giving me false readings. Examples include my fuel level will read at half a tank when I will actually be near empty, the more pressing issue however, is that my speedometer keeps giving me increadibly inaccurate readings, saying I'll be going 90 mph, when I'll really be going 20, or saying that I'm constantly going well over 150mph. . . Even though my car will be parked and turned off. I have read that many other 2005 Mustang owners are having this problem and being told they are having to pay anywhere from $500-600 for the repair when it is clearly Ford motor's fault. I cannot afford to pay this, but I cannot afford to continue having to guess my speed either, it is unsafe, and potentially causing me to break the law by speeding. A recall order needs to be issued to save me and my fellow Mustang owners from having to pay this excessie cost for a problem that is the maker's problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

Cluster failure 2005 Mustang, rpm guage not working. Took to dealership since I purchased extended 6-year warranty, Ford refused to fix. . . So much for the extra warranty!!! not sure that I will ever purchase from Ford again. . . Obviously the cluster is junk, and they are not willing to make things right.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

I recently saw the report concerning the Ford gas pedals being stuck by the floormat. I own a 2007 Ford Mustang and have experienced this on at least 5 occasions.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

The speedometer began to act erratically before ceasing to work altogether. I took the car to fairway Ford (placentia, CA) and reported the problem. The service writer dismissed me by saying the repair was too costly and that there was no known universal problem with the 2005 v6 Ford Mustang. I have a colleague with the same year and model who has the same problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #45

Unknown Or Other problem #46

I first started having an issue with the temp gauge not working. Now when it is cold outside my speedometer and rpm meter are not functioning until the car is warm enough. This first happened in Feb 2010 but just one time. The first time it happened it was cold out and my speedometer went from 0 to 120 while stopped at a light then it stuck there and did not fix itself till the last part of that day. Now it is happening again each time it is cold out the speedometer just stays below zero and so does the rpm untill I drive for 5 miles or so. It seems to only be happening when it is cold out about 65 and below wheather. Temp gauge still not working and has been pointing at the bottom of the cluster since then. It still moves like it wants to work but never goes back to normal. Ford says its the instument cluster but I am a single mother and can not aford to pay 700 to 1000 dollars to fix what I think should be a defect because I have seen a lot of people online posting about the same issue and they are all the 2005 models. Someone help please. I love my car so much. I have had it for 5 years now and still love it. Thanks.

Unknown Or Other problem #47

I financed my car brand new oct 31, 2009, a week later I took it in to dealer because there was rust covering the whole under side. Ford sent me away & said this was normal. Around Dec 2009 there was a loud noise & felt like the engine had literally dropped to the ground. Never happened again. The gas also sometimes pauses to accelerate & suddenly jumps forward skipping a gear & jerks the car. Passenger airbag panel is partially open & when I push on it, I hear crinkling & it pops back open. The easy fill gas feature allows gas to leak out causing a ring of gas to form below the opening on the exterior panel. I'm so unhappy with these issues I'm here for help.

Unknown Or Other problem #48

My speedometer is very erratic especially during the cold months. When cold, the speedometer usually reads zero or other times it reads that I am doing 100+ mph when barely moving. When the weather is warm I have no problems at all. I feel that this is very unsafe driving without a properly functioning speedometer. I have read many online forums and this seems to be a very common problem with the 2005 Mustang. Please please please help us 2005 Ford Mustang owners and issue a recall on this problem.

1) the brakes were squealing and a grinding sound and the car would not stop at a safe distance. 2) it started after the car had 20,000 miles on it. 3)I took it in for the rear brakes and was told the calipers were freezing and causing the brakes to lock. I had the brakes and rotors done but could not afford the calipers at that time. I was told that I will have to change the brakes every 20,000. Miles until I replaced the calipers. Help!.

I owned a 2004 Mustang, mach I pkg, with a shakerhood/cobra jet, police interceptor/ 5 speed: $40,000. 00 vehicle. It hydroplaned during a rain storm here in georgia on the above date. It caused me to go down a 26 foot raveen and I hit a sewer causing my vehicle to go into a vertical position striking a tree. Seat belts were worn. I was not speeding; this has been proven by the towing company. When air born if you turn the key the last mph will appear. It showed 30mph. Besides, I was in 2nd or 3rd gear which runs max at 30mph/speed limit posted 35mph for that area. I remember the (r) rear of my vehicle slip/swing to the (r) causing me to go off the road and down this raveen. It was totaled. I now suffer from many injuries; yet, the most serious injury is a brain injury. My brain has separated from my frontal lobe. I spoke to many Mustang owners and this is not the first time that a Mustang owner has encountered hydroplaning and becoming involved in a severe traffic accident. I had my traction button engaged and still when hitting wet grass it made no difference. I'm complaining and concerned. I intend to take this to the top if needed.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The vehicle did not come equipped with an ashtray. The contact went to the dealer and asked them for an ashtray that would fit in his vehicle. The one he received fits directly behind the gear shift and whenever he shifts gears, he strikes the ashtray. The ashtray has a lid that flips up and cuts his lower arm every time. The failure mileage was 386 and current mileage was approximately 450. Updated 10/30/07.

My 2003 Mustang has a driver side carpet problem where the carpet comes unattached and folds down at the top. Well it hooked my accelerator pedal and almost caused me to get into an accident. Heading to stop at a red light downshifting into 2nd and then having your gas pedal stuck is scary to say the least. If Ford doesn't want a lot of lawsuits I suggest they open a recall on this, it will be way cheaper in the long run.

Purchased 2006 Mustang gt June 2006. After running ac or heat for 30 minutes, hear water dripping on passenger dash area. No water on floor or glove box. Took it to Ford dealer, they heard noise but could not find source. Taking it to another Ford dealer to try and get it fixed.

Unknown Or Other problem #56

I own a 2003 mach1 Mustang. There is significant wear to the carpet next to the gas pedal and just above the clutch pedal. The car has less than 36,000 miles. The dealer says that is not a warranty issue and will not fix the problem. Also, the carpet has fallen down above the gas/break/clutch pedal assembly as well as on the passenger side. This caused difficulty in using the pedal assembly. The dealer "reglued" the carpet.

My accelerator pedal got stuck under my carpet and almost caused me to wreck!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #58

I took my car back to dealer for some warranty repairs and they asked me if my car had been in an accident. I advised them no, it was purchased new. They said my VIN# was invalid. After checking further they discovered my VIN number on the dash and the VIN number on the door were different. I have been told to never allow a VIN# to be changed, however, they want to remove my windshield and replace the VIN plate to match what they say is the rest of the VIN#'s on the vehicle. I do not feel this is acceptable. I entered the contract to purchase this car in good faith and feel that Ford should do the same. I was told by a highway patrol officer that if I had ever been pulled over and they had run my VIN# that they would have impounded my car for an invalid VIN and probably arrested me for driving a stolen vehicle. They say this is a simple fix and won't cause problems down the road for me. I want them to buy back the vehicle or replace it with one that has matching VIN and VIN plate numbers. This is the only fix that will allow me to feel safe. The regional rep jocelyn dunning for Ford said no way, although this doesn't happen often, it doesn't fall under the lemon law. When asked to speak to her superior she advised us she was it. When questioned further, she does have a superior, but she is the only one to make this determination. Help!.

Gas pedal stuck to carpeting while merging onto expressway. 2003 Mustang cobra coupe.

Unknown Or Other problem #60

Gas pedal keeps getting stuck under carpet. I almost crashed into someone because I couldn't get the gas pedal loose.

The speedometer in 1998 Mustang stopped working intermittently. It will sometimes gauge speed incorrectly, and tell I am going about 85 mph when I am doing anywhere from 15-30 mph. Then it will all of a sudden stay on 0 mph. Sometimes turning the car off and restarting it resets it, other times it does not. I would say that the speedometer doesn't work accurately about 50% of the time. There was nothing that lead up to this happening, it just started one day. There is no way to tell if it is going to work when I turn it on or not. Sometimes it will get stuck on 0 mph for days, and the only time it will reset itself is when I get on a highway and do about 65 mph. So far, nothing has been done to correct the problem.

Paint began to peel from vehicle at 37,000 miles. Only on hood.

Unknown Or Other problem #63

While accelerating my gas pedal got stuck under my carpet and my engine rpm's shot up and my engine almost blew because I couldn't get my gas pedal unstuck, I finally had to cut my engine off so my engine wouldn't blow;I was fortunate that the freeway was clear and no cars in front of me.

Unknown Or Other problem #64

Carpet hung accelerator causing vehicle to run at open throttle till I switched it off and coasted to a stop! I have cut carpet, taped it down and made sure it cleared the accelerator pedal.

Unknown Or Other problem #65

Loose carpeting hanging down from accelerator pedal causes shoe to get stuck and come off forcing accelerator to floor, caused crash into structure.

Unknown Or Other problem #66

Accelerater petal stuck due to carpet folding over and no way to secure it.

Unknown Or Other problem #67

The consumer stated that because of his carpet, his accelerator sticks and the brake hangs on the carpet as well. The dealer refused to look at it until the vehicle was recalled. The manufacturer stated the same thing. The consumer hit a pole and caused minor damage to pole and his vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #68

The gas pedal gets stuck under the carpet causing the car to rev at high rpm's and shutting the car off while driving.

Unknown Or Other problem #69

While accellerating car, gas pedal got stuck under carpet, so I immediately shifted into neutral, car began to bounce off of rev. Limiter until I finally got gas pedal unstuck.

Unknown Or Other problem #70

Driving down pine twist road lost control of 2003 Ford Mustang gt on down hill curve when left tires skidded on gravel - was traveling about 35 mph but there was an acceleration of the vehicle when I hit the brakes. Thought all of this was my fault until I saw the article in the local paper about NHTSA looking at 2003 Mustang gt's for accelerator pedal interference fronm the carpet so I decided to report this - car was totaled out and was removed to the scrap yard in may so there is no car to look examine on this issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #71

While driving my 04 mach 1, the gas pedal got stuck under the carpet twice. The first time the car reached an estimated speed of around 125 mph before I shut it down and pulled over. The second time I knew what happened and reached down and lifted the pedal up to free it. These are pretty dangerous situations. I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they say.

While driving my 2004 Ford Mustang gt convertible with the top down and the boot fastened as instructed in the owner's handbook, the boot detached and flew into traffic. This has happened on two occasions.

Unknown Or Other problem #74

Gas pedal has gotten stuck under carpet a few times, at first I thought it was the floor mat doing it but after looking more closely it appears to be the carpet or the way it was installed thats causing it.

Unknown Or Other problem #75

The problem is the control arms and bushings on the front end of the car. Whenwe brake all you can hear is a loud crunching noise. We got it fixed once in June at 7003 miles and it broke again at 8484 miles in July. The dealer and Ford refuse to fix the problem even though it is under warranty because they claim it will break again and again. It is a defect in the car. Quote from Ford it will cost us to much money.

On my 1996 Ford Mustang the paint on my front fender, drivers door, trunk lid and roof had started peeling away from the primer brought it to a Ford dealer and he said the same thing there is a problum with the paint and Ford will not do anything about it.

Unknown Or Other problem #80

The paint is cracking and peeling all over the roof of my 2 1/2 year old Mustang. It started as one spot, now there is a large hole with rust underneath it. There are about 13 small cracks in the paint on the roof where it is peeling, and other spots on the hood and front bumper. I have been to my dealer 4-5 times to attempt repair and financial reimbursement, only to get the runaround. A Ford rep supposedly looked at it, after Ford offered to pay half the $400 estimate, but they have not made attempts to contact me. The dealer is mossy Ford in san diego, CA. I have discovered that Ford repainted my vehicle before selling it to me as "new". The thickness is 10mm on the paint; average is 3-4. A repainted car is obvious upon inspection of paint specialists. Rust from underneath the vehicle has "popped up" and cracked the paint coming from the inside.

I was almost killed yesterday (2-12-03) as I drove my 2002 Ford Mustang in busy traffic. Suddenly the car lost all power steering and power brakes. I practically wrenched my back as I forcibly steered the car and used the emergency brake to pull safely to the curb. Ford roadside service arrived and discovered the serpentine belt had completely come off and was dragging on the ground. Galpin Ford dealership replaced the belt but said nothing about possible defects to the belt or the car. I am afraid to drive the car - what happens if the belt comes off when I am on the freeway?.

Unknown Or Other problem #82

Vehicle stalls when coasting in neutral with clutch released. Condition is most notable at highway speeds and when coasting downhill. Engine stall causes power steering and brakes to revert to manual which makes controlling the vehicle very dangerous. Ts.

Unknown Or Other problem #83

When coming off clutch consumer pressed the gas pedal, pedal felt stiff and consumer was not able to move quick enough. Cause is unknown. Consumer has been stuck in traffic as a result. Please provide any further information. Ts.

Unknown Or Other problem #84

The color of this Mustang is white. Around may or June 2000, the paint began to peel off the roof of the car. Almost immediately, the exposed metal began to rust. I consulted the dealer about it, but they wanted to charge me to paint the car, since the warranty was expired. Prior to this, I had it looked at by another party who said that Ford should paint it at no charge to me because the paint and primer were both defective, thus causing the paint to come off. I called Ford motor company, but they wouldn't help. The owner's manual says the metal has to be "perforated" before Ford would cover the paint. I feel that they should have painted the vehicle when the problem was first reported. Even if they just painted the roof and not the whole vehicle, I would have been satisfied with that. (lt).
