Three problems related to mid/rear seats assembly have been reported for the 1996 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer was involved in a collision in which rear seat collapsed forward, causing css to become wedged between front and back seat.
While stopped in traffic, the car was hit from behind by another vehicle. Upon impact, the driver's side front seat-back broke, causing the driver and seat-back to fall backward into the lap and chest of the rear seat passenger, and rendering the driver unable to control the vehicle. State farm insurance was informed of the seat back failure - state farm claim representative stated that seat back failure is a designed safety feature. I do not believe that seat back failure is a safety feature, and I would like your position on this issue.
During rear-end collision the passenger's side seat mechanism broke, causing the seat to fall backwards into the rear seat.
