38 problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 1997 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1997 Ford Taurus with anti freeze leak. Consumer states she had the cooling system flushed and they replaced the thermostat. Dealer told her she needed the engine repaired and it would cost $300 or $400 dollars. The consumer stated when the vehicle was returned to her, it was overheating. The dealer informed the consumer a campaign had been issued for engine corrosion.
The car slams into 1st gear from 2nd when slowing down, also when you put the car in reverse from the parked position, and sometimes from park to drive. The coolant resevior looks as though someone filled it with mud.
Sand from casting process is inside cooling system. Ford has issued a TSB on this problem. Please provide additional information.
