Seven problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 1997 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 65 mph driver's side and passenger's side air bags inadvertently deployed. Consumer managed to pull over. Police informed the consumer it was safe to drive the vehicle home. Dealership was notified but the problem was not resolved.
Consume r was traveling about 65mph on highway. While driving another vehicle veered into consumer's vehicle. Applied brakes, and driver's side airbag didn't go off.
Consumer was traveling about 30mph on a side street, and there was another vehicle parked on side of road, and consumer's vehicle hit other vehicle from behind. Upon impact, driver's side airbag did not deploy. Whenever the alternator gets wet the light gomes on and the power steering fails making it difficult to control the vehicle. Nlm.
While driving at 45 to 50 mph drivers side air bag deployed without warning. Dealer has been contacted.
While driving on a local street vehicle then remained standing at an intersection at a red light with two vehicles ahead. Another vehicle, traveling south bound on connecticut Ave making a left turn onto van ness, was traveling too fast, lost control and side swiped the vehicle in front of consumer's vehicle, pushing it onto the sidewalk. A chain reaction started in which consumer's vehicle was hit head-on. Upon impact, passenger's side airbag deployed after the passenger hit the windshield, and the seat belt didn't lock in place. Contacted dealer.
At 10 mph impact the air bags deployed; however, the passenger's side air bag broke the windshield and small pieces of glass flew all over the interior. Passenger sustained minor body injuries.
While driving passenger's side air bag deployed inadvertently ,causing minor injuries to passenger. Dealer will inspect vehicle. Please provide further information.
