Seven problems related to front seat belt anchorage have been reported for the 1999 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated the front passenger seat belt intermittently will not retract or it will lock before it is fastened into the buckle assembly. There is a NHTSA recall, # 99v250000 regarding the seatbelts front: anchorage. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN.
The consumer was having a problem with the seat belt. The consumer purchased the vehicle used and discovered that the vehicle had been recalled for a seat belt problem. The dealer told the consumer that the vehicle identification number did not qualify for the recall. The seat belt would not retract and or come out enough to buckle it. Refer to recall campaign 98v198000.
Consumer stated the child on rear passenger side had the seat belt locked into place and it started to retract, child was stuck in the seat belt around the ribs, consumer had to cut seat belt to get the child out.
New part ordered by dealer,, to be installed next week.
Front passenger's seat belt when being used begins to tighten up across passenger's chest. Dealer has replaced this part two times, but problem still occurs.
Seat belt broke.
Seat belts continually lock in position without braking or cause.
