Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2001 Ford Taurus

Car accident -- deer hit front passenger side -- damage to hood, light, small bar inside hood. Air bag did not deploy. I was informed that air bags do not deploy on all accidents. Car was totaled due to age and mileage on vehicle, but it ran well. Had all of the front end looked at to be sure that I could still operate it, so kept the vehicle. Feb. 10, 2014 I had gotten an oil change at walmart. Also had added coolant. I noticed on the Wednesday (2/12) that the car had smoke coming from under the hood when I parked the vehicle at the same walmart. Took it back to the automotive department the coolant level was completely gone and had to take it to an independent business to have a number of items replaced - water pump, oil gasket pan, new oil and coolant added and a few other things. Was told by the independent that walmart should have informed me when I had gotten the oil change that there was a problem. Also Dec. 31st, I had two tie rods installed (outer if I recall correctly), then I happen to notice on March 13th my front tires seemed low. Went in and was told that I needed two new tires and suggested a wheel alignment (which this company did not do). Took it to a tire company and they informed me that a ball joint and one inner tie rod needed to be replaced. The February and March incidents happened while I was out of town (father in hospice and death).

I noticed that my airbag light was illuminated and blinking. I took it to my Ford dealership and they said there was nothing they could do, it was a known problem, and totally not fixable. I was told to turn the car off and turn it back on. I did this, and each time the car stalled. I finally went online to see what the light was about and it seems that the airbags may not deploy on impact. I brought the car back to the dealership and told them this and ask them to look into it. Once again, there was nothing they could do. I was told to just not get into an accident. I finally got rid of the car due to the lack of safety when the car was had 145,038 miles.

Prior to the accident on 8-22- 05 the contact's hit a raccoon while going approximately 70 mph on 5-22-05, and the air bags did not deploy.

While sitting at a drive thru another vehicle struck the driver's vehicle head on and the air bags did not deploy. The consumers son was the driver of the vehicle.

While driving 70 mph vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause had not been determined.

While driving 35 mph, the consumer's vehicle collided with another vehicle. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. The driver and passenger sustained major injuries and were transported to the hospital. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and the mechanic was unable to resolve the problem.

My wife while driving a rental 2001 Ford Taurus on ventura freeway attempted to brake at some point,the brake pedal went to the floor she exited the freeway at off ramp and crashed into a concrete retaining wall. Both air bags did not deploy,my wife's shoulder harness gave way, resulting in massive injuries to my wife and serious injuries to my 2 daughters which after surgery had to be redone on one of them.

The consumer loss control of the vehicle in a snow storm and skidded off the road and landed down an embankment. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy. The consumer reported the accident to the Ford motor company, and was told by a representative that it was not sufficient impact for the air bags to deploy. Consumer stated that he was injured, receiving 48 stitches and accumulating about 20,000 worth of medical bills.

I was involved in a front and mostly side collision where my car was totaled. A couple of days before the accident my airbag light came on and then went off. I took the car (2001 Ford Taurus ses) to cowles Ford in woodbridge va. I was told the car was safe to drive and that the airbags would deploy properly if I were involved in an accident. I made an appointment to have the car looked at on 12/27/02. The accident happened before the appointment and only one side airbag deployed but not on the side I was on. I was driving, wearing my seatbelt the side airbag did not deploy. During the accident I was still thrown into the side of the car even thought my seatbelt was worn. I sustained some minor to serious injuries and am currently still being treated for these. I have contacted Ford motor company to report the problem so that this will not happen to someone else in the future. They have ignored my phone calls and have failed to respond to my complaints. I do not have the money to hire an attorney to fight this but am looking for any help from you in making sure that the cars we buy for the amount of money we spend will be safe for our families. Consumer states while driving 55mph had a accident the car spun around 3 times and hit a tree and air bags did not deploy causing injuries. Nlm.

We were traveling northbound in I-25 at las vegas, nm. A vehicle traveling the opposite had lost control, passed the median ,and disabled at the right lane we were traveling. It was raining hard and I did not have the chance to avoid it. I had slammed my brakes, skidded and hit the disabled vehicle. The damage in my vehicle was more on the passenger side. Both front airbags did not deploy. At the towing company, they tried to start it and noticed airbag light camed on and flashing. It seems airbags activated after the impact but did not deploy.
