While driving my 2003 Ford Taurus around a sharp turn the passenger front tire exploded . While trying to change tire to spare it was noticed that the cause of the explosion was a broken spring sticking in the sidewall . I had it replaced . A few months later I saw a piece of a spring in my driveway , when I looked at my car I found the piece of spring came from the drivers side of the Taurus . Then later that year at state inspection the mechanic found a rear spring broke . I had both rear springs replaced . All four springs replaced at my own cost.

2 Rear Suspension Springs problem

Car began making noise while driving. Local garage found broken rear spring and replaced both rear struts and rear springs.

3 Rear Suspension Springs problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

Rear springs were found broken when having the oil changed. Broken spring could puncture rear tires, causing loss of control of vehicle. Had to replace broken rear springs, old parts are available.

4 Rear Suspension Springs problem

Both rear springs on vehicle broke and caused springs to slip off of lower spring perch. Sharp broken end of left rear spring came within 0. 25 inches of contacting tire. Sharp end of spring came very close to puncturing tire. No particular event caused this failure. Don't know exactly when it happened. I just noticed the rear end of the car was sitting lower than usual. Car still drove fine. Took car to local Ford dealer. They replaced both rear springs and struts at my cost of approximately $700. Old parts kept by Ford dealer.

5 Rear Suspension Springs problem

Front and rear springs on 2003 Ford Taurus fractured. The front spring fractured while sitting in the driveway and wrapped itself around the brake lines and hit the tire. Had this happened while driving, the result would have been a catastrophic accident caused by total loss of control and braking. Both rear springs fractured on an unknown date but fractured at the bottom without total failure.

6 Rear Suspension Springs problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2010

Ford Taurus 2003 rear coil spring broken. Caused rubbing on tire on same side which wore a deep groove in the side wall. Also caused tire on opposite side to wear unevenly. Had to replace both tires as well as replace coil springs both sides. Live in maine (salt- belt state). Bought as used vehicle. Don't know if front springs were replaced. Date of incident was when the defect was found on regular inspection.

7 Rear Suspension Springs problem

The rear spring on our 2003 Ford Taurus broke overnight. As we tried to drive it in the morning we heard a grinding noise coming out of the wheel well and pulled the car into the driveway. We removed the tire and discovered the spring had snapped and the jagged tip was grooving the inside sidewall of the tire. Had this happened on the highway, it would surely have blown the tire. Replacing both rear springs cost $590. 07, and replacing the tire under a road hazard warranty cost another $86. 78. The car has only 76,200 miles on it. 8 Rear Suspension Springs problem

2003 Ford Taurus - rear spring broke and slashed tire. Vehicle was sitting still when this happened but if moving could have caused a serious accident. Had to replace rear struts and springs and new tire. $582.
