In cold weather the door latches freeze and will not latch this is the second 2006 Ford Taurus I have owned that has done this. Has happened numerous times atleast 20.
While I was driving the car the throttle cable got stuck with the cruise cable and the rpm raised to 5000 and doesn't come down. I switched the gears back to 1st and brought it to slow down. Luckily there were not much traffic otherwise this could have caused a very bad accident. I reported this issue to Ford and they initially didn't take it serious. But after I put in writing to bob allen Ford in overland park they mentioned that a service manager will call to discuss this issue further. I asked them if there are any recalls and they asked for the VIN number and they said there are none. . Read more...
Car hesitates during operation usually while driving in the city and has even stopped running completely but will restart by ignition. The hesitation still happens but the stopping hasn't happened recently.
The gas pedal gets stuck either when driving very slow or after I come to a complete stop. I was in the middle of traffic when this happened can be very dangerous. After I put the car in park I tried on the gas pedal again and it worked but it keeps happening daily with the gas pedal getting stuck even when I press with a lot of pressure.
Sudden exceleration without using the gas pedal , engine pulling rpm and revving, such as when in park. Driving vehicle and it began to accelerate on it's own. , hard stopping which put myself and other drivers in a dangerous position on the highway. The vehicle is a 2006 Ford Taurus se and has 84,000 original miles.
Air bag light on drivers side has been activated for about a year has been checked by a ase garage. They couldn't find a fault code. Cars is surging at different speeds during normal operation. I have had to put car in neutral to kick it down to normal speed then back in to drive mode while moving in traffic. Some times it slams the transmission. The cruise control has not worked for over a year. Ase tech says the connection is worn and faulty. Ase tech says he could not get any fault codes for the surging in speed after letting it run for over 45 min. And test driving the car. Ase tech believes the problem is in the pcm.
I was driving home from work. The accelerator kept sticking. I rode the brake the last 4 miles home driving in town. I would come to a complete stop at a light and all I had to do go accelerate was to take my foot off the brake. This did not stop until I got home and stopped the car. Rpm's got up to 3000. I see that this issue is under investigation but something needs to be done about it now.
I've owned my car for the last 6 years and after a hard rain or a constant rain, the passenger front floor gets soaking wet with water and I have to use towels and then run the heater on the floor for a couple hours to get it dry. Very annoying. Thankfully I haven't had any electrical issues related to this problem.
My husband was driving my 2006 Ford Taurus to work one crisp fall morning, when all of the sudden he heard a loud sound that he at first thought to be a gunshot. What had happened was that the rear window glass had shattered all on its own. After further inspection he noticed that one of the little black heaters that are connected to the glass to work the rear defogger coils was melted to a piece of glass. We are inclined to believe that the rear defogger mechanism failed to auto shut off after the window defogged and over heated which in turn over heated the cold glass (it was chilly on this morning) and caused it to shatter. We are just thankful that no one was sitting in the back seat at the time this occurred and was injured by the shattered glass.
My son was driving the car, stopped at a stop sign then when he pressed the gas pedal to go on the car wouldn't move. It seemed the car was in neutral but it was still in drive. The transmission simply failed without warning, noise, leaks, anything. He was left stuck in the middle of the road/traffic with a car that wouldn't move.
Sudden acceleration many times at random (I could not remember the first date of the incident so I put the most recent incident date, which is today 6/9/14): Ford Taurus 2006 accelerates on it's own at random times while driving. Rpm will go over 3,000 and continues. I have put my foot on the brake as I drive but the car still pushes as I do and accelerates. Once I put it in park, it accelerates over 3,000 rpm going up to 5,000 rpm and not stopping until I turn off the car. Then when I turn on the car again it will go up to 4,000 rpm. It only would take once or twice for it to turn on normally without any sudden acceleration. But today, after another incident of sudden acceleration as I was going about 27 mph, even with my foot on the brake the car revved on it's own and it began accelerating. I put it in park fast and turned off the car; but, every time I turned it on, the car still wouldn't stop accelerating. I had to tow the car to my mechanic and it's still boggling us what could be wrong with the car, we might end up replacing the whole computer system. This has happened many times already. I have taken the car to the mechanic many times for this incident and they have done what they could but the problem never seems to get fixed.
Instant acceleration while driving approx. ; 40 mph had to shift to neutral after stepping on accelerator several times engine returned to normal idle.
The gas pedal periodically sticks between 35-40 mph in my 2006 Ford Taurus. This causes the engine rpm's to increase. I am able to slow the car by pressing the brakes. I can also stop the engines racing by tapping the pedal again abruptly.
Last year in 2013-2014 when weather dropped below 30 degrees the driver side door would not lock and I had to drive to my job holding door shut. My sister has same vehicle and it happens to her 2006 Ford Taurus too. This vehicle is not safe to drive.
When driving, the car suddenly accelerates to high speed, causing me to constantly put the breaks on. The car accelerates without stepping on the gas. This has continued to happen. The car was looked at by a dealer on 10/2013 and they could not figure out what the problem is. This happens periodically one to several times per month. When this sudden acceleration happens, I am forced to put the car in neutral and then turn the car off. This has been an extremely frightening situation because it occurs in heavy traffic areas and on the highway.
I was driving about 25mph with my little brother and sister in the car and I felt it start to go faster. It kept on accelerating and wouldn't stop. When I got to a stop sign and was pressing on the break the rpm shot up. Even when I put it in park it kept on accelerating. I took it to a mechanic, but he didn't know what was wrong. It has done this many of times, once where I almost hit someone because of it. I'm afraid it will keep doing it.
For the past year our car has had moments of sudden acceleration without explanation. Initially, turning the car off and then restarting it would solve the problem. As of June of this year, such was not the case. We stopped and turned the car off, but when restarted it immediately accelerated again (without any pressure to the gas pedal). Our mechanic has looked at the car twice and has not identified anything specific. He has made separate repairs hoping this would solve the problem, but as of today, October 26, 2014, it has happened again. Like in June, turning the car off and restarting it has not solved the problem. It is very dangerous and we are quite concerned, hoping for suggestions to solve the problem.
As I was coming up the hill near my apartment at 30 mph on Saturday, March 2, 2013, my vehicle suddenly accelerated as I reached the top of the hill. I immediately began to brake but the car was still pushing forward. I was able to park, but the car was still trying to move forward. I applied the emergency break. Suddenly, my rpms shot up to around 6000. I cut the car off. When I turned it on thirty minutes later (still in park), the rpms shot up again. I checked this morning and it was no longer doing this, but I am hesitant to get behind the wheel of this car right now.
I was driving and my accelerator got stuck. I was only going 10 mph but it kept going when I hit the brakes. I placed the car in park and about an hour later I tried to drive home. It happened less than five minutes later. The engine revved up, the accelerator was to the floor. I hit the brakes, the emergency brake, and put the car in park and cut off the car. The accelerator was visibly to the floor. I was terrified but thankful I never made it on the highway.
I purchased a 2006 Ford Taurus on June 24th, 2012. The Taurus was in excellent condition and it ran wonderfully, for the first seven months of ownership. However, in November of 2012, the car began randomly shutting off, sometimes while I was driving. It would happen sporadically and I thought it was a problem that could be fixed. However, after taking it to a Ford dealership on two different occasions, no mechanic is able to figure out the problem. The reason being that since it happens sporadically, no one can duplicate it nor is there any saved censor abnormalities. I have replaced the fuel pump, hoping that would fix the problem. However, it has not. Sometimes it will happen up to six times in one day while i¿m going as fast as 50 m. P. H. I refuse to drive on the highway because I fear for my life since the car shuts off without warning. Sometimes the car will turn back on and other times, I will have to turn the engine off and re-turn on the car. This is a serious problem and a serious safety issue. I am now stuck with a car that does not work properly and is a danger to my well-being each time I get behind the wheel. I do not blame the dealership for selling me the car; however, I do blame the Ford motor company for this very serious and very faulty problem. Please consider this as a formal complaint against the Ford motor company and I urge you to take this issue seriously, for my safety as well as other Ford Taurus owners.
Intermittently throttle will keep rising and the car will not stop unless shifted to neutral and acceleration pedal pushed to dislodge stuck throttle. Brakes will not stop throttle from rising unless steps above followed. First time this occurred, I had to fight the acceleration with the brakes causing my engine to smell like burnt rubber until I figured out the trick of taping the acceleration pedal when in neutral.
