1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2024

Intermittent accelerator sticking. After lifting foot from accelerator to prepare for braking/stopping the car continues to accelerate. Safety is at risk in traffic and intersections. There is online documentation related to previous NHTSA investigations. Ford and the local dealership has stated that there is not a defined recall. Although there may not be a “recall” this is certainly a safety problem!!.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2016

Throttle sticks and vehicle accelerates uncontrollably and unpredictably. I believe this is part of an investigation that dates to 2012. The cruise control has an arm that connects to the throttle-body. That arm pops off from time-to-time. When it becomes disconnected, the arm wedges between the pivot point and the throttle body, causing the throttle to stick or accelerate.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a repair to the flex pipe. The dealer indicated that they replaced the flex pipe but when the vehicle was inspected by more than 2 master technicians from independent repair shops, they diagnosed that the flex pipe was cut out, removed and replaced by a steel pipe which was not a proper fix and may cause a failure. The contact stated that four master technicians indicated that the repair needed to be redone. The dealer was notified by the contact and more than one master technician and they refused to replace the flex pipe. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was uncertain of who would remedy the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure from the dealers repair and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000. Dyd.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they replaced the flex pipe. The vehicle was taken to more than two master technicians with independent repair shops who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that the flex pipe was cut and replaced by a steel pipe. The master technicians indicated that this was a modification by the dealer which may cause a failure and that the vehicle needed to be repaired with the correct permanent repair of replacing the flex pipe. The contact went back to the dealer with more than one master technician, reported the safety concern with the dealers repair and they refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, they provided no remedy and the manufacturer indicated that the dealers repair was sufficient. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000. Dyd.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Excessive acceleration when in motion with high rpms when in park on multiple occasions over 6 months, in the shop 3 times w/o resolution. Ford motor company was notified. The car will maintain 80mph without touching the accelerator, is difficult to stop, and will accelerate to greater than 50 mph from stop without touching accelerator pedal. It's a death trap. I can donate car to you if you want it.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2015

Air bag light on drivers side has been activated for about a year has been checked by a ase garage. They couldn't find a fault code. Cars is surging at different speeds during normal operation. I have had to put car in neutral to kick it down to normal speed then back in to drive mode while moving in traffic. Some times it slams the transmission. The cruise control has not worked for over a year. Ase tech says the connection is worn and faulty. Ase tech says he could not get any fault codes for the surging in speed after letting it run for over 45 min. And test driving the car. Ase tech believes the problem is in the pcm.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2015

Car was accelerating spontaneously, appears that the accelerator was sticking at the throttle body due to defective cruise control cable that dislodged and got stuck into accelerator mechanism. Car was accelerating on freeway at 70 mph and climbing, pulling on gas pedal with foot of no benefit. Ultimately had to turn off keys after heading to off ramp. Nicknamed car "christine" after this frightening incident. Noticed multiple reports of same problem on web with brief search. Called Ford customer service and spoke with three representatives. Wondering if there is a recall. They were clear to indicate " not our problem" as car is "out of warranty".

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2014

The throttle opened so that the car would pick up speed without my foot being on the accelerator. Then when I stopped the engine kept accelerating, so I put it into neutral and it was at about 4,000 rpm. I took my car to a garage and they cleaned the throttle and it was idling normally. Since then it has continued to happen intermittently.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

I was driving approx 45 mph and went to decelerate. I noticed the car not slowing down and the tac was at 1800 rpm. I hit the brakes harder and was ready to put the car in neutral but did not. I could hear the brakes working harder. The rpms still at 1800 as I turned into work. I heard a pop and the motor rpms dropped to just under 1000 rpms. On my way back home the cruise control seemed to work properly with the exception of no acceleration or holding speed. The cruise control would not engage. On 12/16/13, I looked at the throttle assy and noticed a cable had come unclipped. I reattached the cable and I tried the cruise control, it engaged. Anyone not familiar with an automobile would have had an accident with injury or worse. Please investigate this issue. Thank you.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

I was driving to work and the vehicle accelerated out of control. I tried stopping the car, I put it into park, and even while in park it was still revving up to 4 or 5 thousand rpms. I re-started the car hoping this would "re-set" the vehicle. No such luck. As for now, the vehicle's gas pedal is eiether stuck, or something is wrong with the cruise control cable. Either way, the situation, in my opinion, is extremely dangerous. My brakes began to smoke before I could get the vehicle home and wait for my husband to help me figure out what to do next.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

The vehicle at around 40 mph will accelerate on its own reaching speed of 60-70 mph needing constant breaking to maintain the speed limit of 45 mph. Upon start up it has a high idle taking 3-4 mintutes to come down below 2 rpms.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2013

Driving the car on a county highway in texas, let off brake to slow down while approaching intersection, car sped up but we avoided accident by pulling off road. Friend came and we observed that while in park with nobody in car, the car's engine would accelerate to over 4,000 rpm, decline to just below 3,000 rpms, then accelerate again to over 4,000. Towed to dealer, was told it was a dirty throttle, which had just been cleaned a little over a year ago.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

Gas pedal sticks when starting car. Very stiff until you tap several times. Seems to be getting progressively worse.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

The vehicle accelerates by itself. I must keep my foot on the brakes to keep it slowed down. It often accelerates up to 45 mph with no application of gas by me.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2011

Vehicle has failing camshaft synchronizer chirping from engine failure began at 30,000-32,000 miles Ford refuses to honor emissions/extended defect warranty on part if part fails, it drives the oil pump, which will result in a sudden loss of engine power, and will require complete engine replacement. Vehicle has lower end of mileage for its age, long and thorough maintenance history contacted Ford, they had no interest in providing assistance total vehicle mileage as of 3/13/2014 is ~49,000 miles will be taking legal action.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2006

Car self accelerates for no reason. It happened four times today during a 10 minute drive. It happens while car is moving and at low speed, approximately 25 miles per hour. 11\4.
