After taking a right turn, the vehicle began accelerating on its own. I had to fully apply the brake to maintain control. It was terrifying. My whole body shook. I thought I would hit something because I did not think that I could stop the car. Even while pushing the brake pedal all the way down and shifting into d I could not keep the car under 40 mph. The engine kept revving and the car kept gaining speed. Luckily, the only light I had was green. I pulled into a parking lot and slowed the vehicle down to a stop by applying all my force to the brake. I shifted into park hoping that would keep the vehicle from moving. It caused a loud sound that sounded like an explosion and startled everyone in the parking lot. Still not sure what to do, I turned the ignition off. A parking spot opened up so I turned on the ignition, that caused an even louder explosive sound. I was still terrified but I had to act - so I forced the brake pedal down as hard as I could and shifted to d and was able to navigate into the parking spot. I put the vehicle in park again and again it caused a loud explosive sound. By now I was a spectacle in the parking lot but I was just thankful that I was alive and that no one was hurt. I looked down at the gas pedal and noticed that it was fully depressed and loose. I pulled the pedal up but there was no tension to hold it up and it dropped back all the way down. I drove the vehicle back home, in much the same way - transmission in d, applying a lot of force to the brake and hoping that I would not have to stop suddenly or get pulled over for speeding since I could not get the vehicle slower than 40 mph even while pushing on the brake as hard as I could the whole trip. And when I parked the car at home, it made the same loud sound and I also heard ticking noises coming from under the hood. I am still shaken up by the incident.
Was driving my 2006 Ford Taurus out of a parking lot into a busy 4 lane road with a 45 mph speed limit. Upon braking right before the sidewalk to wait for traffic the vehicle sped up as if it a mind of its own. I hit the brakes but vehicle did not want to stop. The vehicle entered the street. Luckily there was just enough distance so the oncoming vehicle didn't hit me. Had the other vehicle been moving faster or been closer an accident could have occurred.
Engine rpm increased excessively at a stop sign, car would not slow down I had to turn the car off twice to get it to stop revving.
Car will accelerate on its own at many different speeds, even those over 55. Breaking will only slow and not stop acceleration. You can smell the brakes burning if you try to stop the car during these periods by only pressing the brake. The only way to stop it is to shift into neutral and let the motor race up and then it will reset the throttle. It happens on a regular basis.
2006 Ford Taurus. Consumer states idle, acceleration issues and problem with seat belt the consumer stated after many repairs, the mechanics were not able to confirm the cause of the problem. The consumer also stated the seat belt tensioners locked up which made the seat belts inoperable.

Cpsc#i1220409a. 2006 Ford Taurus. Consumer stated whine coasting up hill and approaching her left turn the car began to accelerate. The consumer stated she made the turn applying a good amount force to the brake. However, the vehicle accelerated anyway. The vehicle would accelerated even without her foot on the brake. She finally maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road, place both feet on the brake pedal with a great deal of force, placed the vehicle in park, and engaged the emergency brake. The vehicle continued to accelerated to 3000 rpm's while idling. She turned off the engine and when she restarted the vehicle on four separate occasions it continued to exhibit the same problem.
During the last year, I have experienced my car speeding up on it's own. It feels like something is pushing on the accelorator. My rpms will go past 3. I have to brake hard to keep from crashing. These events are happening more often, without any type of warning. It is very scary and dangerous. Please investigate possible causes.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the vehicle surged forward while driving at various speeds and while stopped. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and an independent repair shop, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
The car has intermittent high idle making it difficult to slow down and stop. It also lurches forward once foot is off the brake. I have been in several near accidents because of high idle problem. Replaced pvc, replaced iac, cleaned throttle body, with no good results.
My 2006 Ford Taurus has started to accelerate itself. It is happening more often. This is quite scary. Is there a recall regarding this or will there be one? and if not then does it have to come to to what Toyota went through for Ford to issue a recall?.

The car started idling very high and seemed to want to accelerate while my foot was pressing firming on the brake. I shifted the car into neutral and the engine seemed to keep revving. After this incident, the same day, I noticed the cruise didn't work any longer. Still to this day, at times the car will try to accelerate without pushing on the gas seems very dangerous!.
Unintentional and nearly uncontrollable acceleration.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at a stop with the brake depressed, the vehicle continued to accelerate and lunge forward without warning. In addition, the rpms increased to 7,000 abnormally. The vehicle was shifted into neutral and returned to normal function. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 89,000.
I had purchased the vehicle in Nov of 2010 and the speed control issue began in July of 2011. The engine rpm would go up around 4 or 5 while coming to a stop or slowing. At times this made it hard to slow down. I would have to shift out of drive to get slowed or stopped. Noticed that the speed control did not work during this time period. I took the vehicle to my local inspection station and they fixed the problem with a zip tie. Not to sure if that would work. It did correct the problem.
For several weeks, my car has been accellerating on its own. I will not have my foot on the accellerator and the car will speed up. Rpms shoot up to 4 or 5. This has happened intermittently. Pumping the accellerator is the only way to get the car under control. While coming home from vacation yesterday, I tried to stop at a stop light and couldn't stop. Thankfully, an accident was avoided as nothing was crossing the intersection. It was a very scary ride home, and I am thankful my family didn't get killed by this obvious defect in this car. I cannot understand why a recall has not been issued. Is it going to take several deaths before something is done?.
I was sitting at a red light. I had my foot on the brake yet the car began to jump and move forward while my foot engaged the brake pedal.
My 2006 Ford Taurus accelerates when I let my foot off the gas pedal car starts to accelerate on its own, even when the car is in park the rpm's shoot up. To make it stop I tap the gas pedal while it's accelerating and becomes unstuck this does not always work.
When the car isn't being driven but is on sometimes the gas revs up by itself and engine just keeps running and the rpm runs up, the gas also accelerates on its own and the pedal sticks.
Vehicle accelerates by itself while driving and hard to brake, need to tap the gas pedal, neutral in order to stop the vehicle. . Also vehicle shuts down by itself while driving around 40 mph hard to control vehicle. . . Scare to drive vehicle specially with my kids. . . .
I have a 2006 Ford Taurus sel that was accelerating by itself the rpms went up to 4,000 by itself and my foot wasn't on the gas pedal at all . I was trying to stop with the brakes and shift up to neutral with the motor on and the rpm's @ 4000. I turned off the vehicle and the problem was gone. This is the second.
I have a 2006 Ford Taurus that was accelerating buy it self the rpms went up to 4 buy its self my foot wasn't on the pedal at all was trying to get it to stop with the brake and put it in park with the motor rimmed up like I ease feeding it gas. I was just driving home nothing different , I slowed down to take my exit when I notice that the car was having issue in slowing down at that time I took my foot of the gas to see if the car would low down and it didn't the speed hand went up to 40 mph before I tried to slow it down, the gas was still feeding into the motor like my foot was on the gas and it wasn't. The problem has not yet been corrected I'm trying to have the car picked up to be carried to the shop cause I'm afraid to drive it.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. While making a sharp turn with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly surged forward and crashed into a wall. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph prior to the failure. The front end of the vehicle was damaged but there were no injuries. When the failure previously occurred, an authorized dealer stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle; although, they did not inspect it. The current and failure mileages were 40,570.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal would intermittently become stuck while driving at 30 mph or higher. The failure occurred over a period of a year and a half. There would be a high rate of engine rpms and the vehicle would continue to accelerate when the brakes were applied. The contact had to apply repeated pressure to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
About six months ago I was driving on the I-10 about 60mph and I noticed that my car was picking up speed. I removed my foot from the accelerator and the car was going faster and faster. I taped the accelerator and it went back to normal. Two months later it did it again. I brought it in to my mechanic and he could find anything wrong. While driving home from the mechanic, I was driving about 45mph and it did the same thing. This time I could not stop the problem so I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. I waited a few moments and started the car and drove home without any problems. One month later, while driving 30mph it happened again. Then two more times after that. Each time I had to turn the car off, wait a few moments before restarting. Now it's back in the shop. The mechanic said that they could not find any problems, but they're still checking other areas. Why has Ford not recalled the 2006 Ford Taurus for this problem? does someone have to be killed first?.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The failure recurred four times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technicians stated that there was a malfunction in the cruising system. The cruising system was replaced. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
In a 70mph zone I nudged the gas pedal to speed-up slightly and the engine would not stop speeding-up reaching a speed 85mph while I am frantically working the brake in an effort to slow it down. At that point I was terrified as I was approaching a car some-ways ahead of me, then I just sat on the brake and was ready to slam it into neutral when the brake started responding and I had to ride the brake into the nearest gas station. Being a Sunday I had to call a tow truck to get my car home until the next day for the tow to get us to the Ford dealer. Now on sept 21, it happened again, in town, luckily near a garage. This should be addressed before injury or deaths occur.
2006 Ford Taurus accelerates speed intermittently on its own. I made a previous complaint approximate date of first incident was given. I do not have that information accessible to myself now.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. Once the engine was restarted, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that a substance was sprayed on the throttle, which stopped the acceleration for two years. When the failure recurred, the vehicle vibrated violently as it accelerated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
Incident happens everytime I drive my vehicle. I can reproduce this at anytime. When I am using the accelerator. I ease off of the accelerator or release it completely and the the car goes faster. The accelerator with push it self in. In order to slow the vehicle down I have to press the accelerator. (I have to speed up to slow down). Another work around is shifting the car into neutral then braking. (when using this method of shifting the car to neutral I notice my rpm level jump from 1-2 rpm to 3-5 rpms). Please note that the two work arounds do not always solve this issue. Some times I have to pull off of the road.
