The contact owns a 2009 Ford Taurus. While driving 35 mph, the windshield wiper gear box suddenly failed during a very heavy thunderstorm. As a result, the wipers stopped working and the vehicle had to be pulled over due to poor visibility. The wiper blades and arms were working normally. The contact believes that the failure was due to a mechanical error. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 23,000.
On the 2009 Ford Taurus, the windshield washer fluid misses the middle bottom section, triangular in shape, approx one foot high. This causes one huge blind spot in bad weather, especially in the winter. My 2008 Taurus did not have this issue. The dealership said all of the 2009's are the same and they would not get paid to fix it. Ford told me to call the owner of the car -ari, fleet lease. This is a big safety issue that will cause accidents. I have not had an accident yet.
