4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2023

My 2011 Ford Taurus has had so many repairs out of pocket expenses and if I purchased another warranty package doubt it would cover my issues past and present. 69,000 th miles. Throttle bottle and pedal replacement $ 852. 79 replaced on February 14, 2023. Mechanic tried to fix it but the error code is the large blue wrench and check engine light still on. Have to bring it in at the end of the month to my Ford dealer as they are so booked up and I have read all the Ford recalls. When I start the car the break pedal is to the floor, it revs up and when I place the shift in drive it wants to take off by itself at a rapid speed. I then shut the car off and it makes a big thump. It takes me three tries to start it up again but looses power where I have to put my emergency flashes on. This incident is so dangerous. Ford should have done a recall there are so many complaints ! I was going to disconnect my battery and connect it again to see if that works but I don’t want to erase the codes. My Ford dealership is so busy that they could only give me an appointment at the end of the month. As I stated my vehicle is inoperable as it sits until the end of the month to get serviced again.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2022

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while his grandson was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered. The check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty water pump causing water intrusion into the engine. The dealer replaced the engine; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer twice, and the engine was replaced for the second and third time. The failure persisted. The vehicle was then towed to colorado auto finders (12351 e arapahoe rd, centennial, CO 80112), where the ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to two separate independent mechanics, who diagnosed the vehicle with dtc codes: p0300, p0302 (cylinder 2 misfire detected), and p0306 (cylinder 6 misfire detected). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 105,213.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

The throttle body threw a code. My car lost "power' and stalled. It went into limp mode. Became inoperable. My four year old, his dad, and my safety was at risk due to this happening on a rural road on a hill. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and an hour and a half away from home. The dealership replaced the throttle bottle, accelerator pedal, reprogrammed it, and it still will not function normally. I am out of a car and that is not okay. They only warning sign there was happened to be a wrench and that's it.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2022

Engine/ water pump. Started the car one day and a massive plume of smoke came out of the exhaust. So far we have caught it early enough to where the whole engine doesn't have to be replaced. But the repair is costly. Shame on Ford for building this model of engine that has water pump failures that leak coolant into the oil. Especially when a vehicle has been well taken care of and maintained. This is causing $$$ to be spent.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2022

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact was able to have the vehicle taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the water pump was faulty and that the timing chain was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2022

Failed water pump, water pump isn’t sending coolant through the mail engine so it’s overheating and engine light is on.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2021

Had my Ford for less than 6 months, and has 80,000 miles on it. Looks brand new, in excellent shape and yet on the way home from the grocery store, it began overheating. The tempature gage shot up and the engine started cutting out. We pulled over and the vehicle was smoking. We started adding water and coasting down the mountain until we could get home. Called several mechanics and find out that this is a common problem with our year and model. Every person we've consulted has quoted us $3,000 to repair the water pump. We have been told that the excessive charge is because when Ford built this model, the water pump was placed inside the engine. The entire engine has to be taken out of the car in order to replace the water pump. Most mechanics around us don't even have the machine that is needed to remove the engine. Ford is backed up for months on repairs. Our vehicle has been sitting for two summers because we cannot afford this $3,000 repair for a water pump! we are making payments on a car that can't be driven. Something needs to be done about this. The more I dig and research, the more complaints for this very issue I find. We need help!.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2021

Attempted to start vehicle in driveway. Without warning, experienced a catastrophic failure of the water pump/engine cooling system. The failure caused the engine crankcase to fill with coolant and caused the vehicle crankshaft bearings to disintegrate into the oil leaving a silvery sludge. Upon taking vehicle to repair center, recommendation was to replace the entire engine since apparently the failure caused unrepairable internal damage to the engine. I have see other complaints about this where the failure happened while the vehicle was being driven and could have caused a very severe dangerous accident to occur as a result of the engine failure. Ford should be ashamed of the quality and workmanship in this motor since it appears to be a common an recurring problem.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2018

Timing chain stretch.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Car running very rough. Took it to dealer. They say # 4 cylinder dead,we need new motor. 81,000 miles. 1 month out of warranty. Dealer says 2 months or more for replacement motor. Ford will not stand behind their defective product.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

I purchased the car used with 28,000 mile and I have't had a single issue with it until today current mileage 52,300 the car for no reason just cut off and the oil light was on , I was able to pull over and restart the car . The scary part is there is no type of warning just goes dead .

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

When driving the car it will suddenly not respond to the gas peddler.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

I have the Taurus sho with the ecoboost engine. The vehicle occasionally shutters when accelerating from a stop or low speeds. It will "miss" and then "catch" and accelerate when pressing the gas pedal. This occurs randomly and in no pattern at all. I took the vehicle to the dealer in December 2012 and they claimed they could not replicate the issue. They indicated no awareness that this was a "known issue" with the car (I have the service receipt if needed). This has occurred since purchasing the car with ~9,000 miles on it in March of 2012. This also occurs rarely at higher speeds. Occasionally the cruise control will cancel and the car will shutter at highway speeds. This happens much less frequently than when the car is at low speeds or a stop. I read a USA today article today that other owners of the ecoboost 3. 5l v6 are complaining about this. It is definitely a problem with my car, and the description provided in the article describes my problem exactly.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph a complete loss of engine power occurred for a few seconds. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Js.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2012

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. While traveling 30 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate however , once the vehicle speed reached 60 mph, the failure would correct itself and the vehicle would drive normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the failure could not be repaired. The VIN was not available. The current and the failure mileages were 22,000.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2011

I purchased a new 2011 Taurus sel a couple of years ago. One day while driving into a parking lot, the car accelerated full speed on its own head on into a wall and was severely damaged ($11,000+ in damages - the driver airbag deployed but I was not injured). The insurance company did not total the car and it was repaired. The cause for the unintended acceleration was never determined. This past weekend my brother was driving the car and almost got involved in a similar incident. He was stopped at a red light in the Taurus. He felt a strange rumbling that felt like it was coming from underneath him. He wasn't even sure it was the car so he took his foot off the brake slightly to see if the rumbling would stop. As soon as he took his foot off the brake, the rpm gauge shot up to 7,000 and the car took off. He slammed his foot back down on the brake and the car stopped but the rpm gauge was still at 7,000 and the engine was racing. While the engine was racing (with normal pressure applied to the brake the car did not move even though the engine was racing) he took a glance down at the gas pedal and nothing was pressing down on the gas pedal. . . No feet, no trapped floor mats. He shifted to park, the engine calmed down and it was like nothing ever happened. It drove normally again. The car is going back to a Ford dealer for inspection but there is clearly a potentially fatal manufacturer defect in this vehicle.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

Try to stop vehicle at a stop sign, but it continues to go with motor revving. Have to put car in neutral to keep it from going through the stop sign. Ford refuses to believe me, because it doesn't show up on their code reader. This happens randomly, and a mechanic must witness it for them to acknowledge that it happens. I do not have my foot on the brake and gas at the same time, and a floor mat is not on the accelerator.
