The rearview camera system intermittently fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. At times, the screen remains black or frozen instead of showing the live rear view. The camera and wiring are still installed and available for inspection upon request. When the rearview camera fails, I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. This creates a risk of collision with objects, other vehicles, or pedestrians—particularly in driveways, parking lots, or areas where children or pedestrians may be behind the car. The lack of a working camera significantly reduces rear visibility and situational awareness. The issue occurs intermittently, and while I have experienced it multiple times, it has not yet been officially diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center. However, I have learned that similar camera failures have been recalled for the same make and model from 2015–2025, which suggests the 2014 model may also be affected by the same defect. No, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives specifically for this issue, but it is available for inspection if needed. There were no warning lamps, error messages, or prior indications before the failure. The issue began occurring a month ago and has continued intermittently since then without warning.
Back up camera doesn't work most of the time, and some times it's upside down!!!! should be under the current recall, but my make/model year isn't covered!!!.
Ford recalls vehicles due to issue with rearview cameras, because their rearview cameras can go blank or display a distorted image. According to the national highway traffic safety administration, this a safety issue. I have a 2014 Ford Taurus sel with the rearview camera can blank and give me a msg to contact my dealer or display a distored image. I have contacted Ford on this problem and they responded with they will note it. I feel that since this is a safet concern that my vehicle should be included in the recall. My vehicle only has approx 52,000 miles on it.
The backup camera will sometimes produce a grainy image or prompt a warning the camera isn't working. This issue has been noticed for other vehicles and issued a recall for the Ford Taurus but doesn't cover my vehicles year, 2014. The 2015 recall affects 2015 and later Tauruses, 25v695000.
Please note that from the time I purchased the vehicle brand new the doors and roof have leaked. The same garage has continued to try and glue the molding in the outside. Now the back window area had the cloth sagging down. I was told it was a design problem and that the police car Taurus was experiencing the same problems. After having a problem trying to steer the vehicle,I pulled over to the side of the road and put the car in park. Suddenly the steering assist notification appeared and I could not move the steering wheel. I had the car towed to the Ford garage that services my car. Upon checking all available literature on the 2014 Taurus the failure of the steering is a common problem. Ford has recalled Taurus models up to the year 2013 but not 2014. . I contacted Ford and they gave me a case number to document my concern in the event of a Ford issued recall. How many complaints do they need before the problem is corrected by Ford and not the consumer spending up to 4000. To fix the problem. Perhaps it is a design defect.
Water pump failure causing a major leak. Because the vehicle is designed to have the water pump run on the timing chain and the oil pan right underneath the water pump, the coolant leaks right into the oil pan and coolant enters the engine. I was driving on a back road and had to abruptly pull over on the side of the road because the driver assist screen said “engine coolant overheating. ” this was the first and only time this message appeared. There was smoke coming from under the hood. Numerous mechanics that I’ve spoken to said that if I drove it any longer, there’s a good chance the engine could blow. So now I’m looking at a $3,000+ repair for this. Realistically, any other make and model (that was designed with common sense) with a failed water pump should cost $500-1,000. And won’t run the risk of ruining your engine on top of it. I spoke to several Ford dealers and third party mechanics. Every one of them knew exactly what I was talking about like they had seen this many times before. The third party mechanics refused to fix it because it’s an 11+ hour labor none of them said there are any pro’s to having the water pump connected to the timing chain. But there are many con’s to this design. Sounds like negligence on behalf of the engineers who designed all the 3. 5l and 3. 7l v6’s in the Fords. Luckily, I was going between 20-30 mph on a backroad when this occurred. Otherwise, this could have ended very badly and I’d like to prevent this from happening to anyone else in the future.
Hvac system has malfunctioned. The system turns on but no fan motor, heat, a/c, or defroster. Fogged windows have caused dangerous driving conditions an independent service center has confirmed this problem all other information is unknown.
Ford has just announced a recall for certain model year Taurus and fusion vehicles regarding malfuntion of the backup camera. My 2014 Taurus is not included in the recall, notwithstanding the fact that it exhibits the same malfuntioning characteristics as those included in the recall: sometimes presenting a black screen, sometimes presenting an upsidedown image, and occasionally presenting a correct image. The camera began exhibiting these characteristics about four years ago. I believe that the recall population should be extended to include the 2014 Taurus.
Went to start car again after driving it for 10minutes. Would not start. Hit the start button and nothing. The engine light came on. I tried to jump the car, thinking battery. However, nothing had to get a ride home at 11pm in the rain and towed it into the shop in the morning. Still waiting on outcome. Fran k, ocala FL.
This is about my transmission. It is doing the same grinding sounds as the recalled Ford f150's however it is not on the recall list. My car is the 2014 Ford Taurus.
Back up camera goes out sometimes.
Michelin 4 dry rotted tires on a 2014 Taurus sel with less than 36,000 miles were taken off the car due to mechanics requested that they weren't safe on the highway. Tire info is as follows: pilot hx mxm4 99h p235x55xr18 dot ap3 002x 4060-751 -00 . Went to costco and had 4 new tires installed. Expect a re-imbursement from michelin.
As I was driving down the highway at 70 plus mph my car lost acceleration power this makes the 3 time it has done this, but this time I was stuck in the fast lane with now power because a car was in the slow lane, I was stuck I had to throw on my emergency blinkers and wait before I could get over to the shoulder I had cars locking it up behind me about hitting me. This is very very dangerous. As I was looking up what it could be I have seen multiple complaints about this, I don't understand why this hasn't been looked into my car is a 2014 car with less then 50k miles.
Car vibrates at speeds between 50 and 65 mph. Had tires balanced no improvement. Tires about 50 percent remaining tire left. All road conditions.
I have had to have my drivers window worked on twice. It tends to squeal loudly when putting down, as if glass rubbing metal. This happens, no matter if you are sitting, rolling, etc. Ford has adjusted twice now under 36k.
I had this car for about 8 months in 2015 and it had carbon monoxide leakages. I sent this car to 2 different dealerships and they told me the car had no issues. I had symptoms of severe headache, blurred vision and confused state of mind all conditions associated with carbon monoxide poisoning. I bought industrial grade detectors but they did not pick up anything. However when my doctor ordered blood tests they showed serious exposure to carbon monoxide. I had the fire department come in at test my residence but there was no evidence of carbon monoxide leaks. I finally gave up the car and bought something else. My blood work came back after a retest about a month after I let the car go. I have not had these symptoms since then. This is a clear indication that the car was the problem and yet no dealership helped me out. I drove 100 miles a day in that car and I am sure had I just kept it something catastrophic would have happened. I am reporting this now due to reports of several Ford explorer recalls. My point this that this issue is not limited to Ford explorers. Ford Taurus at least 2014 needs investigated as well as peoples life are at stake. I can provide blood work reports if needed.
This vehicle is used as a fleet vehicle. The vehicle was sitting in a parked driveway at a residence. The vehicle was in park, and turned off. The vehicle broke free, rolled down an embankment, over the edge of the embankment striking the shoulder of the roadway. This impact caused sever damage to this vehicle. According to the operator, the ignition switch was in the off position, and in park. It should be noted that there has been problems with the ignition switch in the past/.
During my vacation in the USA 2014 I bought the used car with the named VIN. The car was exported from the USA to switzerland. He is still in service until today. The car is not listed in your database. I can't imagine, that this car escapes from the "screen", after exporting, like "out of sight, out of mind". I am aware of various recalls for this type of vehicle and I suspect that my vehicle is one of them. There has not been an incident so far, but why am I not hearing anything? it's a matter of principle. Sincerely yours [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When we come to a stop (not moving at all) and ease up on the break the car moves forward. This has happened three times causing accidents. One time the car moved into the house causing damage to the car, garage door and knocking bricks off the front on the house. Two other times, at stop signs, the car moved forward and bumped into the car in front of us. I am afraid this will happen again causing more damage. Have you heard of this happening with other cars? this happens to both my husband and myself. We are not driving this car any different then we have any other car.
