The contact owns a 2015 Ford focus. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently shut off. The contact stated that the failure had occurred in 2020. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump and failed modulator. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,916.

2 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while her husband was driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact's husband had to physically push the vehicle to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic initially diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel pump. The fuel pump was replaced however, the failure recurred twice after the replacement. On the third failure, the modulator was replaced due to the modulator over heating the fuel pump. Upon investigation, the mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

3 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact had replaced the fuel pump module. The vehicle began to function properly. The vehicle had not been taken to a dealer or certified mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

4 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2020

The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph after moving off from a traffic light, the vehicle jerked while the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle decelerated independently. The rpm decreased and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump module failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 75,100.

5 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2020

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. Contact stated that after parking the vehicle, they attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence where an independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle. The dtc code was p0627 (fuel pump failure). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline), however, the VIN was not included. The contact manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

6 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact pulled off to the side of the roadway and restarted the vehicle to resume normal driving. Additionally, the contact also stated that the vehicle failed on several occasions to start-up after multiple attempts. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where they discovered that the vehicle had a defective fuel pump which the contact had replaced. However recently, while driving 44 mph the failure returned and the vehicle stalled without warning. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). No further assistance was provided. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 73,436.

7 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. While driving 5 mph and making a turn, the vehicle stalled and the oil change message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot and the tow truck driver stated that the fuel pump was inoperable.
