Seven problems related to tire tread/belt have been reported for the 1997 Ford Thunderbird. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

While driving heard a noise from right rear tire. Then, when going home found out that tire had already separated, and left rear tire was starting to separate. They were firestone wilderness tires, size p275/70r15.
