1 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Ford Thunderbird

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

I've owned my 2003 Thunderbird since it was new. It now has 65000 miles and is driven only 2000 miles a year, over the last 5 years. During this period, I have had all 8 coils replaced, one at a time. The first time was within the first 1000 miles. Generally it occurs while driving in traffic, being on the freeway or on local streets. The engine starts to misfire and not function. After the 3rd or so incident, I was informed that Ford recognized the problem and would honor the repair. The only problem with this, knowing of the problem, they refused to replace all at the same time. In other words, they would only replace when the coil malfunctioned, this now has occurred 8 times. Now my motor has failed and needs to be replaced. My understanding is that when the coil malfunctions the corresponding cylinder also is not functioning properly. Again, the car only has 65000 miles and has never been mistreated. The cost to replace the engine is almost $10,000. This motor is a Jaguar production 3. 9 model. Done when Ford had a brief relation with Jaguar. To say the least, I am very disappointed with Ford and their lack of taking responsibility. By the way, when they replace the motor, the old coils will be reinstalled on the rebuilt engine.

3 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Ford Thunderbird

Failure Date: 08/11/2009

Coil and plug failure in traffic - my car experienced intermittent stalling in traffic and misfiring on the highway. Luckily, I was able to start the Ford car and move me and the Ford car out of harms way. Ford recognizes the issue with the 2003 and in may of 2008 Ford covered the 2004 and 2005 Thunderbirds but is ignoring the 2002. I had two of the eight coil on plug assembles replaced and I am concerned that any one of the next six will again fail on the road.

8 Car Stall problem of the 1996 Ford Thunderbird

Failure Date: 01/19/2000

In 1998 I started having car problems, a mechanic told me that fluid was getting past the head gasket. In January of 1999 I had to have the engine replaced by heritage Ford. I recently read an article in the paper that said there was a defect in the 3. 8l motors causing this to happen. I called Ford motor CO. & heritage Ford & was told that since my car wasn't on their list they can't help me. They have already announced publicly there is a defect with the same motor we had & I feel they should reimburse us also, not because of the model of our car but the kind of motor they sold us. We have had numerous problems since they installed the new motor, & have had to bring the car back at least 5 times & of course pay a bill each time, the car still spits & sputters in hot weather. Can you help us???.
