Unknown Or Other problem #1

I am writing today to express grave concerns for my 2002 Ford Thunderbird. It is my understanding that Ford motor company has extended the warranty for model years 2003-2005 for the coil over plug (cop) ignition system, but has chosen to omit the 2002 model year even though a majority of 2002-2005 Thunderbirds were produced in model year 2002. My concern is that many owners of the 2002 model year have experienced cop failures which have rendered their cars virtually inoperable without notice of the impending failure. To take this a step further, imagine driving on a high speed interstate and have the system fail. The car is designed to go into "limp" mode whereby the car cannot go any faster than 25 mph. This is a disasterous accident waiting to happen! not only is this a safety issue, it the repairs are costing owners of my 2002 cars in excess of $1,500 where owners of newer models are covered for 10 years/100,000 miles free of charge for the exact same failure. This inequity must seriously be investigated and corrected by the NHTSA!.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Car has apparently had a recall on the plastic intake manifold for 7 years. I have owned the car for over 2 years, but have never received any information on this defect. While driving the care apx. 60 miles from my home, my daughter and I were left stranded when the intake manifold started fountaining water and antifreeze all over my engine. The crack is big enough that no liquid would stay in the car, and I could not baby it home. It took an entire day stranded in a strange city to find someone who would haul the car all the way to my home. Ford motor company will not honor recall because it expired 4 months prior to incident.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

1997 Ford Thunderbird with a 4. 6 liter ohc engine that has a cracked intake manifold. The engine has 81,000 miles and the plastic intake manifold cracked and leaked antifreeze all over the engine. The replacement part costs $541. 00 from the local Ford dealer, and the labor to replace will cost around $550. The replacement part is made out of plastic except for the part that is cracked (thermostat housing) which is made out of aluminum. Ford knows there is a problem with the plastic intake manifold, and has had a recall on on certain model 4. 6l engines. Unfortunately, I was informed by Ford today that my 1997 Ford Thunderbird with a 4. 6l engine is not covered because the engineers at Ford motor company have not included the serial number (VIN) for my Thunderbird in their recalls. Surprisingly, the part that is defective in my car and will cost over $1000 to repair is not covered under their recall/warranty program. This part is the exact same part that is installed in all of the other vehicles that are allowed a replacement/recall. Due to my rotten luck, my car's VIN has not been included unfortunately. Since the replacement part has replaced the plastic thermostat housing with aluminum, it is clear to me that someone at Ford motor company recognizes a design flaw in the original plastic intake manifold. Please advise me of anything that you can do to help resolve this problem. Thank you for providing a resource to expose these types of problems. Wes hardin.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Intake manifold is cracked and leaking engine coolant. I have not had the vehicle repaired due to the cost. I searched the internet for recalls on this and found the TSB# 97m91. I called Ford and spoke with philomena, id #3157 and was told this was an extended warranty and that they had notified me in writing in February 98. Found the letter on the internet in a pdf file dated may 1998. So, according to Ford, they notified me a few months before they were notified????? I never received any recall notice or any information on this. I'm sure if I would have, I would have taken it to the dealership to get it corrected (who wouldn't?). My warranty on this ending Feb. 17, 2003==was told I was 6 months too late to get it covered under warranty. Is there something I can do about this - or am I out of $675. 80?.

There is an extreme glare mirrored on the windshield, caused by the material the forward part of the dash is made of. The defroster vents from the dashboard are also present creating black spots in the line of sight.
