1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear passenger’s side sliding door unexpectedly opened. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the rear passenger’s side door latch had failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired under a recall related to the failure; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2023

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Transit Connect. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v502000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the front driver's side door unexpectedly opened. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated he immediately shut the door closed while depressing the brake pedal; however, the failure recurred several times while driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 391,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2021

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that he was unable to close the front driver’s side door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the driver’s side door latch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 79,006.

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2020

The contact owns a 2014 Ford transit. The contact stated while driving various speeds, the hatch inadvertently opened. The contact also stated that on several occasions the hatch would lock and failed to unlock when needed. The contact stated that the door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic stated that there was nothing needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20v331000 (latches/ locks/ linkages). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to another local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that the sliding door did not latch. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
