Failure Date: 10/21/2025

Jerks when accelerating, loses power, hesitates backing up, brake on left front does not release and overheats, right back brake following suit. Took into repair shop for brake service. Quote the inspection "front passenger caliper seized no flow from house caused caliper to lock up. " was advised after rear right brake was found to be developing the same symptoms to have it towed to dealership for further inspection--risk of brake failure increasing likelihood of crash was cited as reasoning to default to dealership and no longer drive the vehicle.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 07/09/2022

The abs control/hydraulic unit failed over a period of months. At first I thought it was a master cylinder issue and replaced that but it did not cure the problem. My wife had an issue several times where she thought the transmission was acting up but I could not replicate it, until the brakes really started to lock up. It got to the point where the brakes would stay locked up after any application and would slowly release after five to fifteen minutes. I had the dealership look at it and explained what I had found. If you cracked the metal brake line to hose connection at the right front and left rear, the brakes would release. The dealer did not agree with me, they wanted to replace the entire base braking system. I pulled it out of the dealer and took it to an independent repair shop. The part is presently in the hands of the repair garage but has a core charge on it. The component has not been inspected by anyone. No warning lamps appeared at any time.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 12/10/2020

On two different occasions the dash indicator stated as follows: "pre-collision assist not available". When this error message appears, the car does not accelerate properly. The transmission seems to fluctuate between gears, and the car will not accelerate, and the vehicle seems as if the pre-collision alert is engaging or attempting to engage, but does not however, stop the vehicle, rather, the vehicle hesitatingly or haltingly will not accelerate properly upon pressing the accelerator pedal. On both occasions , I immediately stopped the vehicle in a safe location, turned the vehicle off, and turned the vehicle back on again. It seems as if the computer module is reset upon turning the vehicle off and then on again. Upon turning the vehicle on again, in both instances, the problem disappeared. However, the most recent instance of this problem, upon turning the vehicle back on, the error message disappeared, and the acceleration of the vehicle returned to normal, but the yellow engine light remained on, until restarting the vehicle the next day.
