Seat Belt problem #1

The seat belt buckle/latch in the backseat is a dangerous defective design that can cause injury. It is available for inspection, see photos provided. Merely taking a seat can result in a bruised or broken coccyx. The car was parked when the incident occurred. No, the problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. No, the component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance reps or others. No, there are no warnings or messages. The danger is inherent in the design.

Seatbelt failed, did not restrain the driver. Available for inspection. Steering wheel was the only item stopping the drivers momentum not at this time. No warning.

T-bone a four door vehicle at 55 mph. The seat did not stop me. The belt did not catch and will not retract. It is laying on the driver seat. Air bags did not deploy. The front end of my vehicle hit the side of the other vehicle crushing the front of my vehicle. Nether safety restraint worked.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that the passenger seat belt locked in place with no room to move, making it feel like the passenger would be strangled. The contact called the hassett Ford, located 3530 sunrise hwy, wantagh, NY 11793, (516) 785-7800 and was told that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the five year warranty expired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. Fe.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt would not disengage from the buckle and would not retract. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated the seat belt mechanism would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
