2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 06/27/2023

Abs light comes on as well as loss of traction control and hill assist. Steering is more difficult, and the speed ohmmeter will not work. This is the second time this has happen. First time mechanic replaced bad speed sensor on drivers' side front wheel and everything went back to normal it only had around 6k miles on it. Now it has around 7. 5k on it and it has happen again. Have not taken it in for repair yet.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 04/12/2022

While driving, the speedometer dropped to zero, the car milage displayed as ------, the abs light turned on, the traction control light turned on, and there was a warning that the hill assist was unavailable. I was driving with 4 children in the vehicle and was unable to discern if it was an actual safety issue or an electronic malfunction. We suspect a wheel speed sensor on one of the four tires has failed since an internet search shows this is the likely culprit but it hasn't yet been confirmed.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 05/12/2021

Vehicle failed to go into park when putting shift lever into the park position. Vehicle actually went into reverse instead even though the shift indicator showed the vehicle was in park. We could not shift the vehicle out of reverse. This was the result of a broken shift cable. This is the 2nd vehicle of the same model we have had this happen with. We will be reporting the other vehicle as well.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 12/10/2020

On two different occasions the dash indicator stated as follows: "pre-collision assist not available". When this error message appears, the car does not accelerate properly. The transmission seems to fluctuate between gears, and the car will not accelerate, and the vehicle seems as if the pre-collision alert is engaging or attempting to engage, but does not however, stop the vehicle, rather, the vehicle hesitatingly or haltingly will not accelerate properly upon pressing the accelerator pedal. On both occasions , I immediately stopped the vehicle in a safe location, turned the vehicle off, and turned the vehicle back on again. It seems as if the computer module is reset upon turning the vehicle off and then on again. Upon turning the vehicle on again, in both instances, the problem disappeared. However, the most recent instance of this problem, upon turning the vehicle back on, the error message disappeared, and the acceleration of the vehicle returned to normal, but the yellow engine light remained on, until restarting the vehicle the next day.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 10/04/2020

The vehicle failed to shift into reverse causing the vehicle roll down hill when the driver expected to back up. The driver was able to stop the vehicle without incident. It turns out the shift cable broke that links the shifter to the transmission. We had it repaired (replaced) by a local shop. The vehicle is available for inspection if necessary, but has been repaired. We have had two of these break on two different vehicles of the same model and year. This happened on this vehicle at 127000 miles. There were no warning indicators illuminated before this incident occurred.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

On Saturday August 1, 2020, me and my wife drove a car after work around 6:30pm. This Ford Transit Connect has been driving a month since we bought it. When we took on the road with around 30miles speed 10minutes after we left, suddenly a warning message came up said that "pre-collision assist not available". As we saw the message we had never seen before, we slightly reduced a speed below 25miles and kept driving. We slowly push an accelerator to speed up again, however suddenly we heard clunk sound, and the car shook back and forth. Rpm indicator move abnormally. We tried to find a right place for pulling off a car, however we couldn't find it immediately. Around 3 miles drove, we pull off a car and turned engine off. After a while, turn it on again. A warning message is still on. A car still shook back and forth while we drove and return to home.

The first failure was with 36,366 miles in a snow storm. The second failure was in traffic on the freeway. No notification from Ford that this is a known problem has been forthcoming. The replacement part Ford installed the first time was also bad and has failed at 113,214 miles. This is a dangerous failure, going from 65 mph to 5 mph in moments. All the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated immediately after the failure occurred. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle a couple of times and the vehicle returned to normal. 12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

Engine fault service now message appears, srs, traction control, and information warning lights illuminate. Vehicle looses power, the accelerator pedal in non responsive, and engine begins very rough idle. Have experienced this issue twice in three days on the freeway at speeds of 65-70mph. After coasting to the side of the road and coming to a complete stop, turning the vehicle off and then back on seems to correct the issue long enough to drive to the dealership. Vehicle was purchased new in June of 2016. Currently has 13,100 miles on the odometer.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 01/12/2017

While driving at an estimated and constant 70 mph on the highway, the car beeped and "engine malfunction" displayed on the dashboard. The vehicle then suddenly lost power and began to shake violently. The smell of burning oil was present in the cabin. Given the speeds, this was dangerous. I had to coast across a lane of traffic and come to a stop in a grassy area to avoid blocking the highway. Had there been traffic, this would have been impossible. The car at the time was approximately three months old. The car had to be towed to a dealer. The dealer is repairing the car and has indicated that the throttle body needed to be replaced (under warranty). The dealer asserts the cause of the burning oil smell was that the car was due for an oil change.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

I purchased a 2013 Transit Connect from a Ford dealer this fall. Still under Ford warranty and purchased extended warranty through Ford. Today we got our first snow and while driving the tcs kicked in and basically disabled the vehicle. I was unable to move, so while I had my foot on the accelerator the vehicles tvs light was on but the vehicle would not move. I opened the owners manual and looked for the tcs shut off button listed in the manual and my vehicle does have one. So now I realize I am in a dangerous situation because I cannot move and other vehicle including two wheel drive cars are driving around me. I just invested $20,000 in a vehicle for my business ( heating/cooling/electric) and I cannot even get to the customers house with and inch of snow on the ground. I was able to finally reverse to a driveway and after 30 minutes get the vehicle to move down the small grade. I literally was able to drive a 14 year old Honda civic that cost $3200 up the slight slope that a like new with only 32k miles on it Transit Connect would not go. I feel this is a safety hazard and I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle. So far the local dealership and Fords customer care line have no answers for me. Why in the owners manual is there a listed tcs shut off button and a location on my dashboard for it but no part # or option to add it to my vehicle. I invested in this Ford for my business and now I cannot even get to customers homes. I am afraid to drive it now and not sure what to do since the dealer has no answers and Ford had none either. I cannot believe that the engineers at Ford motor company did not think to out this tcs off button on all vehicle equipped with tcs and that the NHTSA has not fined Ford motor company they have not issued a recall. , how can engineers designe a vehicle for the USA that will not move in an inch of snow?.
