While the vehicle was parked, it started to roll back with the vehicle being turned off, and the emergency brake up. Contacted dealer. The vehicle jumped a parking block and hit a fence, which hit the windshield, cracking it. The vehicle went under the fence and the fence scratched the vehicle from the front to the back. It damaged the front bumper, front lights, hood, fender, vent screen, left wiper arm, right to left wipers, lift gate, rear lights, and possible suspension damage. The total estimate is 3026. 15.
Parking brake is defective. Consumer hears a clicking noise when he engages parking brake, and feels that brakes may not hold vehicle while parked on a slope. *note: consumer owned a 1994, Geo, Metro that rolled backwards while parked on a slope. Consumer stated that both brake mechanisms were identical. Please provide additional information/attachments.
Vehicle was parked facing uphill in the driveway,the parking brake was applied and the manual transmiison was in neutral. The car was parked and locked at approximately 3:30 pm. At approximately 7:10 pm the car rolled backwards down the drive and across the state highway and stopped against the guardrail, blocking traffic. My son heard a commotion and noticing the car, went to move it off of the highway. He returned to the house, got the car key and proceeded to drive the car back to the driveway. He noticed that the parking brake was not applied at that time. He very rarely drives this car and would notice that the brake was not on.
Vehicle was placed from drive into neutral. Consumer, therefore, enganged the emergency parking brake in which the vehicle rolled back freely. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to check vehicle. Please provide any further details.
