Check Engine Light On Problems of GEO Tracker

Check engine light has been on since 9/30/02 when the pc module was replaced in my 1998 Geo chevy Tracker. I have taken it back to roger whitley Chevrolet just about every other week from October to January 3, 2003. They have checked everything possible but cannot fix the problem. I was told not to worry it will not affect anything. If this is true then why do we need this system. I believe the problem might possibly be the pc module they installed is defective. The maintenance supervisor said that is not possible but yet he has checked the wiring and numerous other possibilities, but the light remains on.

Engine stalls at stop lights, lack of power in cold temp. Engine check light blinks on repeatedly. Both dealership and Chevrolet say they need to reprogram the computer but at this date they don't have one written to fix it, I've owned this car for less then 20 days and its been in for repair twice, is this considerd safe when a car stalls at traffic lights, also it has a very rough idle.

While driving vehicle shimmies and the engine light comes on. Also, steering becomes hard and then the engine shuts down. Dealer repaired vehicle and the clutch shaft shattered twice, consumer owned vehicle for 3 years and has taken it to dealership approximately 20 times.
